Daily Writing #16

The toughest decision for me that I had to make since coming to UNCC was if I wanted to

continue to keep running with the 49er running club. I was heavily involved with the group the

first semester of the year, mainly because I only had 13 credit hours so had a lot more free-time

and I gave most of it to going running each day. I helped with a few things that the group was

required to do like assisting in races and selling cookies and cupcakes by the student union. A

couple weeks into the start of the second semester is when I found it more difficult to commit to

the group because of the classes I was taking and the times I had them. At first I was still

enjoying running with the group, but after a while I felt the toll of my classes taking effect. I

didn’t want to go run at 5 anymore because it would still get dark around 5ish and I had many

assignments due in one night most nights. I don’t go as much now because I prefer to get more

sleep when I can and try to study for my classes. It was hard for me to pick between going

running with people I enjoy being around but be dead tired, or try to gain some sleep back

sleeping before some of my classes and not being sore some of the time. I probably won’t be

devoted in the coming semesters either because I will be taking 15 credit hours next semester and

I also plan on working, which will most likely further contribute to being even more tired.
