Financial & Economic Wrap Up

Biotechnology major Biocon and pharmaceutical

company Mylan N V on Thursday announced the

launch of their insulin biosimilar Semglee, indicated

for the treatment of diabetes, in Australia. "We are

extremely excited to enable affordable access to

Semglee, a high quality biosimilar Insulin Glargine, co-

developed and manufactured by Biocon Biologics, to

people with diabetes in Australia. We are committed

to use our science, scale and expertise to shift the

access paradigm for patients in need of insulins across

the globe," Biocon Biologics CEO Christiane Hamacher

said.

Raymond is aiming to have a retail network of around

2,000 stores across all its brands in the domestic

market by 2021, as the fabric and fashion retailer

expands in smaller towns, a top company official said.

The company, which opened its 1,000th Raymond

branded store in Surat on October 2, has plans to add

another 500 stores in the next two years, taking the

total count to 1,500 branded stores across India.

Raymond currently operates a network of 1,500 stores

across all the brands in 600 cities.

Troubled private sector lender Yes Bank is in advanced

stage of capital raising from investors, including global

tech majors, to grow the balance-sheet that has been

consciously shrunk in recent months, says chief

executive Ravneet Gill. The exercise will result in the

new investor/s picking up stakes above the regulatory

cap and the RBI will have to take a call on a "non-

conventional" investor coming on board. The mid-

sized lender has been passing through a barrage of

troubles since August last year when the RBI refused

to give co-founder and chief executive Rana Kapoor a

new term and instead asked him to leave the bank by

January 31, 2019, governance lapses.

The government has been pushing its plans to divest

its stake in many major public sector units (PSUs) to

meet its disinvestment target of Rs 1.05 lakh crore for

FY19. Aside from already considering the sale of India's

second-largest state refiner, Bharat Petroleum Corp.

Ltd (BPCL), a group of secretaries have also consented

to the strategic stake sale in BEML, Container

Corporation of India (CONCOR) and Shipping

Corporation of India (SCI).
