European Central Bank(ECB) Rate DecisionPound May Fall as BOE ExpandsQE, Euro Eyes Draghi CommentsMonetary policy announcements from theEuropean Central Bank and the Bank ofEngland are in focus in European hours.

Economists expect the BOE will maintain itsasset-purchase program at 375 billion, but aplausible case for an increase in stimulusseems to have emerged. Februarys MPCmeeting minutes showed three policymakers(King, Miles and Fisher) voting to boostpurchases by 25 billion. Last week, DeputyGovernor Paul Tuckerlikewise seemedreceptive, saying he was open to doing moreand adding that nobody on the committee

thinks that QE [is not] a useful instrumentanymore. That means the doves need tosecure just one more vote on the 9-memberMPC to get their way. Such an outcome islikely to weigh further on the British Poundand we continue to hold short.
