De Luze Launches Fashion: Tailor Made Wines from Bordeaux

The Bordeaux Wine Council (CIVB), founded in 1948, brings together representatives from the three Bordeaux wine industry families: viticulture, trade and brokerage. The CIVB’s role is to establish permanent contact

between those families to help facilitate shared learnings. Bordeaux wines are sold in over 150 countries with 22 bottles of Bordeaux wine are sold every second!

For the first time at Vinexpo the Inter-professional Council of Bordeaux Wines (CIVB) will be running a series of practical workshops and tastings by its Bordeaux Wine School to help visitors better understand the region’s history and wines.

Bordeaux wine school trainers will run 30-minute sessions, spread throughout the week, on five major themes:

• the fundamentals of the Bordeaux vineyard

• the various families of Bordeaux wines

• matching food and wine• the art of wine blending

• innovations in the sector. These classes will be held in three languages French, English, and Mandarin. The Bordeaux Wine School was founded by the winegrowers and merchants of Bordeaux through the CIVB in 1989. It aims to offer training to professionals and individuals in order to give them the keys to understanding Bordeaux vineyards and to make Bordeaux wines more accessible. For more than 20 years the school has offered a wide range of dynamic, innovative wine courses. 80,000 people are trained annually through the Bordeaux Wine School around the world, making it a leader in France and abroad, with a network

of 200 accredited trainers and 30 partner schools in 20 countries. The Bordeaux Wine School works with both French and foreign wine professionals to ensure its range of courses and education tools are dedicated to the needs of the trade.”Short customise courses are designed for importers, restaurateurs, wine merchants, supermarket buyers and sommeliers to help bring Bordeaux and its wines alive for their customers. The school therefore provides professionals with free of charge tools to enable them to optimise sales and to offer their customers new levels of quality in terms of service and wines.

An international press dinner coinciding with the opening of Vinexpo Bordeaux tonight will be celebrating the 160 years’ history of Grand Crus Classés in Bor-deaux.

Celebrations already took place on 21st April at the Foreign Ministry in Paris, where Minister Laurent Fabius underlined the importance of this industry.

Mr Fabius, who France’s Revue de Vin discerned the “man of the year” award this January, said “Wines represent, beyond our personal tastes, very serious business for our country because they are an important part of the identity of the French people, and the names of the Grands Crus Classés are part of our cultural heritage.”

The Minister celebrated the 160-year anniversary in the presence of Philippe Castéja - President of the Council of 1855 Grands Crus Classés.

Tonight’s press dinner will take place at Château Margaux, which is also inaugurating its new cellars which were designed by renowned architect Norman Foster. It was Emperor Napoleon III himself who, 160 years ago, requested the creation of a wine classification system (Grands Crus Classés). The latter was penned by Bordeaux’s syndicate of commerce and industry in time for The Exposition Universelle de Paris of 1855.

For this anniversary, Editions Glénat have published a book, “Bordeaux - Les Grands Crus Classés 1855”, photographs from which will be exhibited during Vinexpo Bordeaux:• In the public gardens• At the CIVB wine bar• At the Hôtel de Sèze

Fashion is a new premium wine range from De Luze which claims it will help “revolutionise” the Bordeaux wine category. As Bordeaux, it says, represents the “haute couture” of wine it has looked to the world of fashion designers for inspiration for its new range. Featuring a new tall, square shaped bottle, Fashion hopes to step away and stand out on shelf from traditional Bordeaux wines. It claims the three wines in the range, a red, a white and a rosé, have been “tailor made” for the modern, discerning consumer. Each label features a different clothing design to represent the Fashion connection. The red is a combination of 70% and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The white is 100% Sauvignon and the rosé a blend of 30% Merlot and 70% Cabernet Franc. De Luze is part of Grands Vins de Gironde and the wines will be available to taste at Vinexpo along with the group’s other range of wines.

SPECIAL FEATURE: ROSÉ

Barton & Guestier, one of France’s leading producer of premium wines, announces the launch of La Villa Barton Côtes de Provence AOC, an estate-bottled rosé from one of France’s hottest growing category.

An elegant and seductive wine inspired

by the art of living in the South

of France, La Villa Barton Côtes de Provence AOC arrives just in time for warmer weather.

Sourced from the region around St. Tropez, La Villa Barton is a characteristic blend of Grenache (45%), Syrah (35%), Cinsault (20%). It exhibits the classic salmon rose petal colour the appellation is famous for and an aromatic nose revealing fresh fruits and delicate touches of white flowers. With a rich mouth-feel, complexity and creaminess resulting from long lees stirring, the wine is an ideal aperitif or served with light summer meals. Barton & Guestier has long brought wines to the world’s wine drinkers from throughout France’s diverse growing regions. For this release, the company looked to where founder Thomas Barton liked to relax and holiday. “This wine embodies the place where one feels most relaxed; the place where one enjoys sharing special moments with friends and family,” says Philippe Marion, Barton & Guestier’s Sales & Marketing Director.

Since 2005, wines from Provence AOC have enjoyed explosive growth in the US In the past ten years (2005-2014), US imports of Provence AOC wines have grown from less than 40,000 cases per year to more than 500,000 annually. In 2014 alone, the category grew 35% in volume and 47% in value from the year prior. “It is no wonder that Americans are so in love with wines from Provence” says Philippe Marion.

La Villa Barton Côtes de Provence AOC’s eye-catching package features a distinctive and elegant bottle shape, modern label and attractive six-bottle shipper.

THIS WINE EMBODIES THE PLACE WHERE ONE FEELS MOST RELAXED

BENEFITING FROM THIS “INDIAN SUMMER”, THE GRAPES WERE ABLE TO RIPEN PERFECTLY, PROVIDING A STUNNING VINTAGE.

at Vinexpo

Barton & Guestier Launches “La Villa Barton” New Côtes de Provence Rosé celebrates lifestyle of the South of France

Introducing Clarendelle rosé 2014: the first rosé in the history of Domaine Clarence Dillon. Clarendelle is drawn off from Merlot and Cabernet vats after a short maceration and is inspired by the clarets of old. This is a truly gastronomic, fruity and fragrant wine reflecting elegance and balance. THE 2014 VINTAGE: AN EXCEPTIONAL YEAR IN BORDEAUXAn exceptional and sunny September provided the winemakers with the ideal harvest conditions. Benefiting from this “Indian summer”, the grapes were able to ripen perfectly, providing a stunning vintage. 2014 will be remembered as a very good year in Bordeaux.

2014 Clarendelle Rosé is a blend of wine made from directly pressed juice and bled from vats of macerating red wine in equal parts. The wines were racked at the end of the fermentation, but some lees were left behind in the vats for three months for further ageing.

TASTING NOTES:At first one is charmed by the wine’s beautiful pale pink colour. On the palate one discovers intense aromas of blackcurrant, passion fruits and wild strawberries. The mouth-feel is quite vivacious and silky, culminating with an enchanting freshness… A decidedly seductive wine!
