    ing. At this job, I worked alongside legalcounsel to help negotiate the state employ-ees unions contracts. I also assisted themin arbitrations, mediations and with legalresearch

    Positives & negatives of your job? A positiveof the job is the freedom that supervisorsgive while working on projects. A negativeof the job is the sometime slow responses

    from my supervisors.

    Advice? The advice I would give anyone withan interest in labor law will be to understandthe law adequately, be willing to be exibleand be able to understand people.

    Alicia Thomas, 30Occupation: General Dentist

    School: OSU School of DentistrySalary Range: $115k-$180k

    What do you do? I am currently a PediatricDentistry Fellow at Nationwide ChildrensHospital and The Ohio State University Col-lege of Dentistry. I rotate through ve clinicalsites, providing patients with dental care.The majority of patients that I treat are be-tween the ages of 3 and 18 years of age.

    Job positives & negatives? A positive wouldbe that I am able to make a positive impacton many childrens lives. A negative wouldbe that many childrens dental needs areneglected, for one reason or another, andthe end results are horric.

    Advice? Follow your dream to its comple-tion. A great deal of determination is needed

    to complete all of the schooling and trainingneeded to become a dentist. You can do it!

    What are the positives and negatives of yourprofession? Interacting with people, the frui-

    tion of projects coming to life, and the busi-ness constantly changing. A negative wouldbe that the business is constantly changing.

    Advice? When managing a team, patienceis a virtue, a present, your best friend, adiamond watch etc. Learning the differentskills and speeds in which your team mem-bers work at can be the difference betweensuccess and failure. Learning these skills

    often require patience, understanding andcoaching. Work with your employees, espe-cially when they are still learning the ropes.Things may not always be done right the rsttime, but theres a lot of gratitude that comeswith helping your team grow professionallyand seeing them thrive.

    What are the positives of your profession?Its rewarding to have an impact on otherseconomic future. It allows you to be cre-ative in the delivery of instruction. Teachingprovides the opportunity for the teacher tomentally take their students to places theyvenever been.

    What are the negatives of your profession?Teaching is not considered a reverend pro-fession in the United States. Age of account-ability, students are constantly being tested..

    Advice? Consider teaching abroad to learntheir techniques and instructional strategies.
