This programme was hosted to recognize, reward the efforts and contribution of women, youth and people with disabilities on food security as well as to promote job creation, economic growth and poverty alleviation. Categories of the Awards for are Best Female worker, Best Subsistence Producer, Top Entrepreneur: Smallholder, Top Entrepreneur: Processing, Top Entrepreneur: Commercial, MEC's Special Award as well as Overall Winner Award. MEC Manketsi Tlhape congratulates the winners and wishes them well ahead of the national competition. The 2016 Provincial DAFF Female Entrepreneur th Awards programme coincides with the 60 anniversary of the 1956 women's march which saw a turning point on the role of women in the struggle for freedom and society at large. Today women from all walks of life became equal partners in the struggle for a non-racial and non-sexist South Africa. The programme seeks to improve the status of women and to empower them to be in a position to change lives.
