TributesI was deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Egbert Joseph - ”MyFriend”. I have known Egbert since the 1970s when he would pass through Mont-serrat with his band.

I had the privilege of interacting with him when he would visit the store at whichI worked. He always had a big proud grin and would always give us clerks a jokeor two. If you were having a ‘not so good day’ he would certainly cheer you up.

It was through him that I was able to travel to Antigua and was introduced to hissister-in-law, Irma and other members of the Batchelor family. The family and Ihave been in touch throughout the years. Whenever I visited Antigua I wouldvisit him and he always had a joke for me. I will really miss him.

To his dear wife, Eulyn, children, grandchildren and all other family members, Iextend sincere condolences on behalf of my family. Let’s remember: God isable to keep us.

Rest in peace my dear friend, until that great day when we will meet our Lord.

The times that I spent with 'Gramps' never included a bad one. They were al-ways full of laughs and on most occasions KFC. But one thing that never failedto amaze me was his ability to always smile and convince his grandchildren thateverything was going to be okay. He has always encouraged me to play cricketin particular and to always do what I love to the best of my ability. It is now safeto say that any of my cricketing achievements are devoted to this graciousman. He is a real inspiration and I wish that I had one last chance to talk to himand hear another one of his interesting and adventurous stories.

Grandfather you are my role model and I will make you proud, trust me. Sleep inpeace, and always remember... TRUE LEGENDS NEVER DIE.

You have excelled in all your pursuits in life but your great-est accomplishment, according to you, was becoming a grandfather. I canonly imagine what would be your story for this occasion. Undoubtedly, it wouldinvolve something about your precious grandchildren...”your reason for living.”That final day when we spoke , your concern was for them as usual. They missyou as much as you loved them. By the grace of God we will all persevere andaim to make you proud.

Tributes'“Mek sure you pass ALL your exams nuh! Me nah k wah grandmother and auntyyou have lib yah, if you nah pass dem you can't pass through this doh' yah!"

He spoke those words to me on Wednesday 18th May 2016, the day before hisdeath. The thought of never seeing him again brought tears to my eyes and aterrible ache to my head. He was more than just a grandfather to me. He was afriend, a teacher and a positive role model.

Grandfather, I will never forget your voice as you shouted my name on numer-ous occasions. I will never forget the many times you said your 'I love you's' andyour 'thank you's'. I will never forget the long nights we spent together on thegallery as you told me riddles and stories. I will never forget those two calypsosongs you wrote for me. I will never forget the many times you told me I'm yourfavorite granddaughter; and the times when we were together and you toldpeople "See how she pretty? It's because I'm her grandfather".

Sadly, all I can do is remember but everything happens for a reason, so God'swork shall not be questioned. I'm going to push myself even harder. I promiseyou nothing but success. After all you always told me I'm a Joseph and Josephsare the best. I have a high standard to carry and for you I surely will.

Grandfather I love you and miss you dearly. May your soul rest in peace.

If you personified all the vibrancy, courage, passion, fortitude and happiness onthis planet, I’d guarantee that such a person wouldn’t be half the man mygrandfather was.

His energy was undeniable and we’ve always heard that energy can neitherbe created nor destroyed; rather, it transforms from one form to another. If that’sthe case, and I believe it is, then the man whose life we are celebrating today,in some form, is still with us; that’s physics.

And I know, that his energy, his soul, his heart, is with us and within us becausenothing and no one is ever truly lost forever and that, that’s love.

TributesNever have I felt so much sadness in my heart. I comfort myself everydayknowing that you’re not in any more pain. A month before your passing, I re-call helping you to sit up in your bed and you looked at me, held my hand andtold me how much you were proud of me. I responded with just a smile, butlittle did you know how much those words truly meant to me because you’rethe only one who has ever told me such.

You always insisted that I come to you whenever I needed help with anything.Throughout the years you supported me in whatever way you could. I was al-ways grateful for your help and your words of wisdom. You were a man thatloved to boast a lot! It was quite evident how much you truly loved your familyespecially your grandchildren.

I promise I will continue looking after my cousins and the queen you have leftbehind. I will forever miss you Grandfather.
