A New Passage to India

WISEWorking Internships in Science and Engineering

Objectives 2-3 months internship at institutions of higher education and re-search institutes in Germany with German doctoral students, scien-tists or professors as part of on-going research projects.

Target Group Students pursuing Bachelor degree/ Dual degree/ Integrated pro-grammes in subjects like engineering, mathematics, natural sci-ences etc.from selected Indian Universities (see list attached)

Duration Duration of 2 up to 3 months, but not exceeding 90 days

ScholarshipValue

A monthly financial assistance of Euro 650 * contributing tosubsidise living expenses.

A lump sum travel subsidy of Euro 550.

Compulsory health insurance covered by DAAD.

*The monthly instalment will be calculated on a daily basis.

Requirementsand Conditions

Indian students:

pursuing full time Bachelor degree programme at one of the

selected Indian Universities (see list attached) who are en-rolled in their 5thand 6thsemester at the time of application.

or pursuing full time Dual Degree/ Integrated programme at

one of the selected Indian Universities (see list attached)who are enrolled in their 5th, 6th, 7thand 8thsemester at thetime of application.

Aggregate marks of 85% and above or CGPA 8.5/10 and aboveof completed semesters at the time of application.

The applicant must be a registered student of his/her institu-tion.Acceptance cum invitation letter from a German Professor forthe internship. Only one invitation letter will be accepted.

Private research institutes and private companies cannot beconsidered under this programme as a German host institution.

German language skills arenot mandatory.

Candidate must be a resident of India and an Indian national.

Applicant must have a valid Passport at the time of application.

2copies of letter of motivation from the student (min 1 page).

2 scannedcopies of the invitation letter from German host onhis letter headsigned by the German Professor.

2 scanned copies of the form Approval Form by German Hostto be filled and signed by the German Professor.

One reference letter from senior academic mentor from the ap-plicants field of study on the proforma available on our website or on his letter head.

2 copies of all chronologically arranged university/collegesemester mark-sheets.

ApplicationProcedure

The application submission process is online. The link is availableon the DAAD New Delhi website.The deadlinefor submission of applications is 01stof November.Important:

DAAD will not consider incomplete applications.

The application form will be considered incomplete without thesignature of the applicant on Page 3.

Only the best of the candidates will be selected.

Following guidelines are mandatory to read through before filling the applica-tion form:

As the online application formis a standard format for all the DAAD schol-arships, kindly read the announcement carefully before filling your details.Those columns which are not relevant to your current profile should be left

blank. Page 4 & 5 of the application form are irrelevant for the WISE pro-gramme and thus shall not be considered or attached to the application.

The duration of internship should not be less than 2 months and should notexceed 90 days.

The internship dates filled by the student on the first page of the applicationform will be binding.

The first and last name filled in the application form must be identicalto thename in the Passport.

Please paste a passport-size photograph on Page 1 of every copy of the ap-plication form (at the designated space).

Please ensure that you have duly signedPage 3 of the application form be-fore sending them to us.

No further requests for change in internship dateswill be entertained exceptfor the situation where exam dates clash with the internship dates. For this theexamination calendar signed by the Head of the Department will be required.

The Certificate of Enrolment (ZAV) form needs to be filled by the studentand attested by his/her parent University.

The form No Objection Certificatemust be signed and stamped by theHead of the department/ relevant authority of the parent institution. (Kindlydownload the No Objection Certificateform from the DAAD New Delhi web-site. The path is: DAAD ScholarshipsWISE- Noc.pdf.

Only one invitation letter must be attached with the application form. Kindlyfill the name of only one Host University in the application form (Point 7). Theapplication will be considered invalid if two or more invitation letters are at-tached to it.

The summary of the research project should be written in the form Ap-proval Form by German Host or on a separate sheet (min 10-15 lines).Thename and email address of the person supervising the intern must be clearlywritten in this form.

The referees title and academic status should be clearly indicated in therecommendation letter (along with official rubber-stamp). This should beCONFIDENTIAL(in sealed envelopes) and should be recent-dated.

All copies of the semester mark sheets must be attested; attested Englishtranslation, if the originals are in Hindi; Attestation can be done by a gazettedGovernment officer.

Kindly refrain from attaching certificates of extra-curricular activities and Xthand XII class mark sheets/ certificates with the application documents.

The internship periodshould always commence at the beginning of a monthand preferably end at the end of a month. This is just a suggestion since rent-al agreements in Germany are generally arranged for full months. However, ifdue to certain unavoidable reasons it is not possible to start the internshipfrom the first day of the month one can opt for other dates also.

If your university has various campuses all over India, kindly mention thename of your campus also in the NOC form under Address of the Indian Un i-versity.
