ABOUT YOUR DISTRIBUTION AMPLIFIER 2

The DA1222AT is a 1-in 2-out RGBHV high-resolution video distribution amplifier. It allows theconnection of a single video source from acomputer or interface to one or two monitors orprojectors capable of handling the sourceresolution and scan frequency.

The DA1222AT offers a minimum bandwidth of350 MHz and a typical bandwidth of 500 MHz,allowing it to remain virtually transparent to high-resolution signals.

Though primarily designed to pass an RGBHVsignal format, the DA1222AT can also passRGBS, RGsB, Component Video (Y, R-Y, B-Y), S-Video (Y/C), and Composite Video by using theappropriate channels.

The DA1222AT uses an internal 110/220 Vswitchable power supply. It can be rack-mountedusing optional hardware.

The DA1222AT uses 5-BNC connectors for eachinput and output representing red, green, blue, horizontal sync, and vertical sync signals.

4.1 POWER REQUIREMENTS

The DA1222AT may be used with either 90-140V AC or 200-240V AC for the input for easeof use throughout the world. Always make surethat the fuse box window located above thepower input connector displays the propervoltage of the country where it is being used. Tochange the setting first, unplug the DA1222AT,and then squeeze the clips on either side of thefuse box. Pull out the fuse holder and turn it 180degrees. Reset the fuse holder into fuse box sothat proper voltage is being displayed throughthe window. Re-insert the fuse box making surethat the side clips of the fuse box lock securelyinto place.

4.2 MOUNTING CAPABILITY

The DA1222AT can be easily mounted into anequipment rack. Four mounting holes areprovided on each side of the unit. To mount asingle unit, use Altinex 19”-1U Rack Mount Ears(part # DA1294FC). To mount two units intandem, use an Altinex 19”-1U Rack MountShelf (part # DA1293FC). For mounting underthe table, optional brackets, such astheTM1271, TM1272, TM1273, or TM1274 canbe used.

INSTALLATION 6

Step 1. Before you plug in the power cord intothe unit, please verify that the voltagerating of 110V/220V on the FUSE CLIPlocated on the rear of the unit is thesame as the power outlet.

Step 2. Connect the female end of the powercord to the DA1222AT and plug themale end into the power outlet. Thepower indicator LED on the front panelwill turn ON. This indicates that the unitis operational.

Step 3. Connect the video output of the source(computer, or interface, or any otherhigh-resolution source) to the input ofthe DA1222AT using a high qualitycoaxial-type cable. If the source offers aVGA-type 15-pin HD connector, thenuse a special cable - Altinex part #MS8102CA (15-pin HD Male to 5 BNCMale 6 feet cable) may be used.NOTE: You may have to use aninterface (DA1910SX or VA6855WM)with your source computer to providethe appropriate signal format type andto allow the use of a local monitor. Donot use a Y-cable or monitor breakoutcable to connect the computer to theDA1222AT because this will affect thequality of the high-resolution inputsignal.

Step 4. Connect the output channels of theDA1222AT to the display devices (i.e.monitors and/or projectors) using acable less than 10 feet with theappropriate number of channels.

Step 5. Verify that the picture quality andbandwidth on all displays is good.

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE DONE.

OPERATION 7

The DA1222AT will operate successfully as longas cables are attached properly and othertechnical specifications are followed. There are noother adjustments necessary to operate the unit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 9

No: Question Answer1 What length

of cable mayI use with theDA1222AT?

The outputs of theDA1222AT allow signals tobe driven through 10 feet ormore of cable depending onthe cable quality and thesource signal resolution.

2 What kindsof outputsare offeredby theDA1222AT?

The DA1222AT offers twoindividually buffered outputs.

3 What doesbufferedoutputmean?

Buffered output means thatthe output signal is isolatedfrom the input signal. Theloaded output does notaffect the input, or any otheroutput on the device. Abuffered output may vary interms of the gain or peakingadjustments made to thevideo signal.

4 What type ofsignals cantheDA1222ATpass?

The DA1222AT can passRGBHV, RGBS, RGsB,RsGsBs, Component Video,S-Vide, and CompositeVideo by using appropriatechannels. Video sourcesmay be passed through red, green, and blue channels aswell as the horizontal andvertical sync channels.

5 May I useCAT-5cablesinstead ofcoaxialcables?

No, you can not use CAT-5cables instead of coaxialcables because you willloose the quality of the videosignal. Since there is noisolation of each wire, the

signals will interfere witheach other.

6 What is themaximumresolutionthat I canpass throughtheDA1222AT?

Resolution format describesthe number of pixels andlines in a given video image,as well as the rate at whicheach frame is re-drawn orrefreshed. Offering aminimum video bandwidth of350 MHz and a typicalbandwidth close of 500MHz, the DA1222AT allowsa very high-resolution videosignal to pass throughwithout degrading the qualityof the image.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE 10

• Please make sure that the amplitude of theanalog video signal (RGB) is less than 1.5V.

• Please make sure that the amplitude of theSYNC signal is at TTL level.

• Please make sure that the proper quality ofcables is used to set a perfect picture quality asyour source. Before isolating any problem to theDA1222AT, make sure that all connectors areproperly connected to all cables. Werecommend Altinex made cables for bestresults.

• If a problem arises after continuous usage athigher voltage, higher temperature, higherhumidity, or at other extreme environmentalconditions, please correct the problem.NOTE: The sync pulse voltage must be at least1.4V for proper operation of the distributionamplifier. If lower voltage is used, pleasecontact Altinex for additional information.

• If you do not see a picture on both outputs, make sure that the attached display iscompatible with the resolution of the computer.
