Route 10/66 werd meer dan een tijdelijke

tentoonstelling door samenwerking met The Beach, dat sinds 2007 in Nieuw-West

culturele projecten ontwikkelt. Zoals het web-platform Nieuw-West Express, dat werd ingezet

bij het vinden van kunstenaars en ontwerpers in Nieuw-West. Middels Nieuw-West Express, koppelingen met social media en Mediamatic

IkCam, is Route 10/66 voor een breed publiek toegankelijk gemaakt. Het werk van tenminste 66 kunstenaars en ontwerpers uit Nieuw-West

wordt hiermee ontsloten. Bovendien blijft de verwijzing naar de deelnemers

en hun werk en netwerken, na afloop van de tentoonstelling voortbestaan.

Het project is mede mogelijk gemaakt door een financiële bijdrage van Stadsdeel Nieuw-West.

The Beach, Hélène Bergmans & Brigit Vermeulen Initiators Hélène Bergmans and Birgit Vermeulen implemented Route 10/66 in cooperation with Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, assistant project leader Annelike Kaagman and font designer Artur Schmal. ‘We live and work in the postal code area 1066 in Amsterdam, an “undiscovered” area where many cultural and creative innovations have been created. It is a challenge to merge many disciplines and show the art and design that Amsterdam Nieuw-West has to offer’. Route 10/66 is more than a temporary exhibition because of the cooperation with ‘The Beach’, that develops cultural projects in Amsterdam Nieuw-West since 2007. One of its projects is web platform ‘Nieuw-West Express’, which is used to find artists and designers in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Because of facilities as ‘Nieuw-West Express’, social media and ‘Mediamatic IkCam’, Route 10/66 is accessible for a wide range of visitors. The work of at least 66 artists and designers from Amsterdam Nieuw-West will be unlocked. In addition, the reference to the participates and their information and networks will survive after the end of the exhibition.The project has also been made possible by the financial support of ‘Stadsdeel Nieuw-West’.

mogelijk mensen uit Nieuw-West en daar buiten te laten zien. In de toekomst hoop ik nog meer

Route 10/66 staat voor het postcode gebied van Dutch Design Hotel Artemis,

maar verwijst natuurlijk ook naar de legendarische Route 66 die

de Verenigde Staten doorkruist. De expositie Route 10/66 doorkruist dan

ook geheel Amsterdam Nieuw-West en laat werk zien van een groot aantal

kunstenaars uit dit bijzondere stadsdeel.

Route 10/66: 10 exposanten/66 kunstenaars - ontwerpers

Stadsdeel Nieuw-West is een bijzonder deel van Amsterdam. Naast veel groen en mooie architectuur zijn er ook veel kunstenaars en

ontwerpers die in Nieuw-West werken of wonen. Er gebeurt veel waardevols in Nieuw-West en

dat willen we laten zien en verrijken door middel van het project Route 10/66. 66 kunstenaars

- ontwerpers worden tentoongesteld op een expositiewand dat dient als een visueel overzicht

van de rijkheid aan creativiteit in Nieuw-West. Van de 66 kunstenaars - ontwerpers krijgen er

10 de mogelijkheid om hun werk tentoon te stellen in Dutch Design Hotel Artemis.

Route 10/66 is een gecombineerd initiatief van Stadsdeel Amsterdam Nieuw-West,

Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, Hélène Bergmans Design en Brigit Vermeulen.

Dutch Design Hotel Artemis: Design & ARTemis expositie is een uniek

concept waarbij elke drie maanden de gehele begane grond van Dutch Design Hotel Artemis

een verrassend ander uiterlijk krijgt. Elke expositie heeft zijn eigen thema. Artemis biedt

hiermee een platform aan zowel beginnende als gevestigde Nederlandse kunstenaars

en designers om hun werk te tonen aan een veelzijdig publiek. Gasten kunnen naast de kunst

ook genieten van heerlijk eten en drinken in restaurant ‘De Stijl’.

Route 10/66 stands for the postal code area of Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, but of course also refers to the legendary Route 66 crossing the United States. In the same way the exhibition Route 10/66 crosses this particular part of town which is called Amsterdam NewWest. The exhibition presents work of a large number of artists from this district. Route 10/66: 10 exhibitors / 66 artists - designers ‘New West’ is a special part of Amsterdam. Besides the large amount of greenery and beautiful architecture many artists and designers live and work in Amsterdam New-West. Much is happening and created here and we would like to show and enrich this with the project Route 10/66. The work of 66 artists - designers

will be exposed on an exhibition wall. This wall serves as a visual overview that shows the rich creativity in Amsterdam New-West. 10 out of the 66 artists - designers get the opportunity to exhibit their work at Dutch Design Hotel Artemis. Route 10/66 is a combined initiative of Stadsdeel Amsterdam Nieuw-West, Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, Hélène Bergmans Design and Brigit Vermeulen. Movements of a City Het project heeft als uitgangspunt de steeds veranderende stedelijke

omgeving. Waar constant wordt gebouwd en afgebroken, waar oud

en nieuw in elkaar overvloeien. Door middel van transparante

papieren sculpturen van verdwenen, toekomstige of bestaande gebouwen en hun omgeving wil ik verschillende periodes van een stad samenvoegen

in één beeld. Door de transparante sculpturen naast, voor en achter

elkaar te plaatsen zie je vaag de schaduwen doorschijnen uit het

verleden, heden en toekomst. Ik maak gebruik van mijn eigen observaties,

maar ook van beeldmateriaal van het internet en uit archieven. Van daaruit

maak ik schetsen die ik vervolgens uitwerk in papieren sculpturen. In het

laatste stadium van het werkproces gebruik ik vaak fotografie.

Movements of a CityStarting point of this project is the ever-changing urban environment. Places where things are constantly built, demolished and rebuilt. Places where old and new merge in extraordinary ways. By creating transparent paper sculptures of buildings and their surroundings during different periods in time, thus creating locations that are, that will be or that have been, I want to map different eras of a city in a single image. By layering the transparent sculptures you will be able to see the vague shadows of many faces of the city through time. From my own observations and images from the internet and archives, I create sketches which I then develop into paper sculptures. Eventually these sculptures are photographed.

By means of photography I create a frame within which I can layer nuances of realism.

Kesemy design is the ceramic studio of Kesem Yahav, a designer that lives and works in Amsterdam. Her ceramic studio has been launched in Amsterdam in 2009 and since then she creates unique ceramic pieces. She studied Ceramic design and Industrial design in Bezalel Academy for Art and Design in Jerusalem Israel. In her studio she creates a small series from clay using different techniques; wheel throwing, molds and hand building techniques, She works with a great sense for aesthetics and each item is a unique handcrafted piece of art. Every piece is special and when seen them in person, you can appreciate the detailing and attention in it.

There are two collections displaying in the expo, the first is the Art deco jewelry collection, this collection is inspired by art deco geometric motifs, Ethnic influences and classic Art Nouveau elements. This combination of styles creates a funky design of jewelry, big and bold and rich in texture and shapes. The clay material gives it an earthy nature touch. The jewelry made out of low fire clay, the pieces are entirely hand crafted and molded, each one is unique and hand form. The pieces made from molds of crystal glasses and plates. This new jewelry collection comes in silver 925 and gold chains.

The second collection on the expo is the Texture vases, this collection of vases and containers are hand made and molded, as nature has always been a strong inspiration in her work she appreciate the quiet, simplicity and innocence it has to offer. In The leaf vases collection the images of the leaves created by pressing the leaves into the clay, the impression left is extremely detailed showing the vein formations in the leaves. The texture vases are designed and made from different textures that are pressed into the clay, the vases are all about color, texture and a playful combination of two and three-dimensional features.

Nature has always been a strong inspiration in my work I appreciate the quiet, simplicity and innocence it has to offer.

Kesemy Design is de keramiek studio van Kesem Yahav, een ontwerper die woont en werkt

in Amsterdam. Ze opende haar keramiek studio in Amsterdam in 2009, waar ze sindsdien unica in

keramiek vervaardigt. Ze studeerde Keramische- en Industriële Vormgeving aan de Bezalel Academie voor

Kunst en Vormgeving in Jeruzalem, Israël.In haar studio creëert ze kleine series uit klei met

gebruik van verschillende technieken: gedraaid op de pottenbakkersschijf, met behulp van mallen of met

de hand opgebouwd. Ze werkt met groot gevoel voor esthetiek en ieder stuk is een uniek handvervaardigd kunstwerk. Elke object is speciaal. Wie deze werken

ziet beseft de gedetailleerdheid en aandacht waarmee ze zijn gemaakt.

Op de tentoonstelling zijn twee collecties te zien: de eerste is de Art Deco jewelry collectie,

geïnspireerd door geometrische Art Deco motieven, met etnische invloeden en klassieke Art Nouveau

elementen. Deze combinatie van stijlen resulteert in funky vormgegeven sieraden, groot en uitgesproken,

rijk in vormen en texturen. Het materiaal klei geeft deze sieraden een aards, natuurlijk karakter.

De sieraden van deze nieuwe collectie worden geleverd met een gouden of zilveren (925) ketting.

De tweede collectie op de expo heet Texture Vases. Deze collectie van vazen en houders is met de hand

gemaakt en in mallen gegoten. De natuur is altijd een sterke inspiratiebron geweest in haar werk. Zij waardeert de rust, eenvoud en onschuld die

de natuur biedt. In de collectie bladmotief vazen werden de afbeeldingen van de bladeren aangebracht

door die in de klei te drukken, waardoor zeer gedetailleerd de nervatuur van de bladeren wordt weergegeven. Het gaat bij deze vazen om kleur en

textuur, de stukken vormen een speelse collectie twee- en drie dimensionale ontwerpen.

De natuur is altijd een sterke inspiratiebron geweest in mijn werk. Ik waardeer de rust, eenvoud

en onschuld die de natuur biedt.

Frederike Top has her own studio in product- and concept design which is based in Amsterdam. Her designs consist mainly of interior products, but she also designs for the public space. Except designing under her own name, Frederike designs for various labels such as Dark, Zuiver, Wever&Ducré and Present Time. A recurring theme in her work is light. Seized by the elusive nature of light she plays endlessly with the experience of it. From the source of light, shadow, lightcolour and -strenght she tries to create a site- specific atmosphere in the spaces she designs for, often through small interventions which have a major impact. Products of her hand have an extra dimension, little surprises that will only be discovered when they are used. Caleidoscope is a lighting concept designed by Frederike Top. It’s character lies in the contrast of simple construction, combined with the unexpected. At first glance the lamp’s façade appears non-intrusive and plain, while further inspection reveals an array of infinite patterns and colour. The generated shapes and sense of infinity reflect the same principles and wonder of a kaleidoscope. Flown up is a series of lamps which makes your mind wonder. Due to the lamps shapes and silhouettes they look as if they are blowing in the wind. The perfect amount of atmospheric light gives you a feeling of mystery that strengthens the feeling of enchantment from these lamps. Frederike made a series of 10 Flown Up lamps (S, M, L) as a ‘limited edtion’, available at Frederike Top Design. Flown Up is also part of the collection of Zuiver: www.zuiver.nl

Haar ontwerpen bestaan hoofdzakelijk uit interieurproducten maar ook ontwerpt

ze voor de openbare ruimte. Naast werk onder haar eigen naam ontwerpt Frederike voor verschillende labels zoals Dark, Zuiver,

Wever&Ducré en Present Time.Een terugkerend thema in haar werk is licht.

Gegrepen door het ongrijpbare karakter van licht speelt ze eindeloos met de beleving ervan. Vanuit schaduw, lichtkleur en –sterkte

probeert ze een sfeer te creëren in de ruimtes waarvoor ze ontwerpt, vaak door middel van kleine ingrepen welke van grote invloed zijn.

Caleidoscope lijkt een lamp gekenmerkt door eenvoud. De buitenzijde laat de

constructie van de lamp goed zien en doet niet vermoeden dat aan de binnenzijde

een geheel eigen wereld zichtbaar wordt. Binnenin de lamp onthult zich een tekening

welke spiegelt tot in het oneindige; een grafische afbeelding speelt met

de omgeving. De patronen die in de reflectie ontstaan werken volgens het principe van

een caleidoscoop.

Flown up is een serie zwarte staande schemerlampen gebaseerd op klassieke vormen. Het beeld werkt vervreemdend

door de lijnvoering en silhouetten: ze lijken te waaien in de wind. Ook het zachte licht

waardoor een bepaalde geheimzinnigheid opgeroepen wordt draagt bij aan deze

vervreemding. Flown Up is een serie die een eigen wereld oproept.

Frederike Top heeft 10 lampen per maat gemaakt (S, M, L) als een ‘limited edition’,

The transparent woven objects made by Rita Kok are the result of many experiments on the weaving loom. Playing with the spatial possibilities of warp & woof she creates a subtle play of threads, light and space, with often surprising effects of depth and contrast between light and shade. Playing with threads and with materials such as linen and silk, horsehair, angling line or even guitar strings: the element of play in the work of Rita Kok leads to fascinating results.The structure of her works is made even more visible if the work of art is hanged at a short distance from the wall. Within the rhythm of rectangles Rita sometimes adds fine lines consisting of loose, curling or waving metal strings. Viewed from a distance, the woven compositions of threads, colors and forms seem to be suspended in space. But no shade without light of course.

Rita puts sunlight on a pedestal: ‘It is an amazing gift of nature which is given to us daily. I love and cherish the four seasons of the year; time and time again a different play occurs between light and shade. That is why my work is never statical; it’s alive!’

De transparante weefsels van Rita Kok zijn het resultaat van veelvuldig experimenteren op het weefgetouw. Spelend met de ruimtelijke mogelijkheden

van schering en inslag creëert zij een subtiel samenspel van draden,

licht en ruimte, met vaak verrassende effecten van diepte en van contrast

tussen licht en schaduw. Het spelen met draden, het bespelen

van materialen als linnen en zijde, paardenhaar, vissnoer of zelfs gitaarsnaren: het spelelement

in het werk van Rita Kok leidt tot fascinerende resultaten.

De structuur van haar werken wordt vaak nog beter zichtbaar als het licht doorlatend weefsel op een

kleine afstand van de wand wordt opgehangen. Binnen het ritme van rechthoeken brengt Rita soms fijne lijnen van bijvoorbeeld loshangend,

krullend of golvend metaaldraad aan. Op afstand lijken de geweven

composities -van draden, kleuren en vormen- te zweven door

de schaduwen die zij in de ruimte werpen. Maar geen schaduw zonder

licht. Rita geeft het zonlicht een ereplaats.

‘Het is een prachtig cadeau dat we elke dag van de natuur

krijgen. Ik houd van de vier jaargetijden; telkens wordt op

een andere manier heel mooi gespeeld met licht en schaduw.

Daardoor is mijn werk nooit statisch: het leeft!’

Elly Baltus works in sculpture, medal art, graphics and video art. She studied Art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam and received her M.A. in Fine Art from the University of Wales. She receives many commissions from the Netherlands, Germany and further afield, including South Korea and the Dutch Antilles. Her medals are shown in many international exhibitions and are collected by museums and collectors from all over the world In her sculptures, Baltus assembles ordinary materials and objects and transforms them into new forms and statues. The newly found sculptures are then cast in bronze. Without losing their essential significance, soft materials are changed into hard and light materials become heavy. In this way, the spectator experiences a visual distortion in perception. Elly Baltus maakt beelden, penningen, grafische kunst en

videofilms. Zij studeerde aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam en

behaalde een M.A. in Fine Art aan de Universiteit van Wales. Bronzen

beelden van haar hand staan op verschillende openbare plekken in

Nederland en in het buitenland. Haar penningen worden geëxposeerd

op nationale en internationale tentoonstellingen en zijn aangekocht

door musea en verzamelaars in binnen en buitenland.

In haar beeldhouwwerk assembleert Baltus gebruiksvoorwerpen tot

nieuwe vormen. Na afgieten in brons transformeren zachte materialen in harde en wordt licht zwaar, zonder

de essentie van de oorsprong te verliezen. Hierdoor ontstaat een

visuele vertekening.

In haar werk laat ze zien hoe de ontmoeting tussen klassiek en

modern, traditie en experiment leiden tot nieuwe ontwikkelingen in haar

beeldhouw- en penningkunst.

Rens Bouma has been designing, constructing and exposing temporary airworks and inflatable architecture since 1985. She also gives airworkshops for both starters and professionals. Her studio is situated in Amsterdam New-West, at the well-known “Nieuw en Meer” area. The “Cloudshape” is the first part of a larger floating work, called “New Laptops”. The work is based on ideas and sketches developed in 1996 by Rens Bouma in close co-operation with painter and inflatable artist Max Diemont (1946-1998). “New Laptops” is a set-up of nine floating, white and semi-transparent cloudy shaped figures with cloudy laptops. The weight of the inflatable skin is low. These clouds will float if inflated with heliumgas, not only inside buildings, but, if the weather is fine, also outside in the open. The idea for this work originated halfway the nineties of the past century, when the first expensive laptops came onto the market, accompanied with a lot of commercial superlatives, even though their performance was not really astonishing yet. Euphoria was huge. By this new technology in the future everybody would be able to work anywhere!

Rens Bouma ontwerpt, bouwt en exposeert sinds 1985 tijdelijke luchtwerken en opblaasbare

architectuur. Daarnaast geeft zij luchtworkshops, zowel voor beginners als voor professionals.

Haar atelier ligt in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, op het Kunst- en Bedrijvencomplex “Nieuw en Meer”.

De “Wolkfiguur” is het eerste onderdeel van een groter werk met de titel “Nieuwe Laptops”. Het werk is

gebaseerd op ideeën en schetsen uit 1996 van Rens Bouma in nauwe samenwerking met schilder

en opblaaskunstenaar Max Diemont (1946-1998).

“Nieuwe Laptops” is een zwevende installatie bestaande uit negen witte en half-transparante

wolkvormige figuren met wolkvormige laptopkoffers. De opblaasbare wolk-omhulsels wegen zo weinig, dat

ze kunnen opstijgen met heliumgas. Het werk kan niet alleen binnen worden tentoongesteld, maar bij goed

weer ook buiten worden opgelaten in de lucht. Het idee voor dit werk ontstond halverwege de negentiger

jaren van de twintigste eeuw, toen de eerste peper-dure laptops met veel zakelijke superlatieven op de

markt werden gebracht, terwijl de prestaties nog niet echt opzienbarend te noemen waren. De euforie over

de nieuwe technologie was groot: in de toekomst zou iedereen overal kunnen werken!

Gésine Hackenberg (born 1972 in Germany) is a contemporary jewellery artist. A basic theme in her work is placing ordinary objects of use in the perspective of jewellery. She reflects their emotional value and possible position on the body. Her pieces are based on craft techniques and various materials that tell their own stories about preciousness and adornment, like ceramic tableware, (precious) metal, Japanese Urushi lacquer and glassware. They refer to the validity of traditional themes and their heritage. In the same time, they merge concepts like jewellery, ornaments and objects of use.

Gésine Hackenberg’s lives and works in Amsterdam. She was trained as a goldsmith in Germany and studied jewellery design at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Pforzheim (Germany). In 2001 she received her degree from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. She received several grants from The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture as well as other international awards. Her work is published in numerous international publications and included in collections such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (NL), the Victoria and Albert Museum (UK), the Mima Middelsbrough Institute of Modern Art (UK) and the Museum of Arts and Design, NY (USA). Currently she is Visiting Professor at the MAD-faculty in Hasselt (Belgium) and teaching since 2008 technical metalsmithing classes at the Vakschooledelsmeden in Amsterdam.

Gésine Hackenberg (geboren 1972 in Duitsland) is ontwerper van autonome sieraden. Haar werken

gaan over de (intieme) relatie tot gebruiksvoor-werpen, hun emotionele betekenis en mogelijke plek

op het lichaam. Ze zijn gebaseerd op ambachtelijke technieken en verschillende materialen die hun eigen verhalen van kostbaarheid en sier vertellen zoals oud

serviesgoed, (edel)metaal en glaswerk. Ze verwijzen naar de geldigheid van traditionele thema’s en erfgoed

in het heden maar ook naar de versmelting van begrippen zoals sieraden, sierobjecten

en gebruiksvoorwerpen.

Gésine Hackenberg volgde een opleiding tot edelsmid en studeerde sieraad design in Duitsland. In 2001

behaalde zij haar diploma aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie te Amsterdam en richtte daarna hier

ook haar studio op. Als sieraadkunstenaar ontving Gésine diverse stipendia van het Fonds BKVB

en internationale prijzen. Werk van haar is aangekocht door o.a. het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam,

het Museum of Arts and Design in New York (USA) en het Victoria&Albert Museum in London (UK).

Haar werk is te vinden in diverse publieke en particuliere collecties en internationale galeries.

Vertegenwoordiger in Nederland is Galerie Ra te Amsterdam.

Vanaf 2008 is Gésine verbonden als docent aan de Vakschooledelsmeden in Amsterdam en voor

het academiejaar 2011/12 aangesteld aan de MAD Faculty in Hasselt (B).

(Chief Seattle) In these works of Leoniek Bontje (Purmerend, 24-12-1969), you see women. Women who look tempting and self assured, like Brigitte Bardot in ‘Et Dieu... Crea la Femme’. These women look strong, beautiful and lovely. They are made of threads, so they are also vulnerable and changeable.The threads are like the lines of a drawing. But they are also symbol of ‘the web of life’. They represent the way of life, the relationships and connection between people. “For me, the threads represent the desire to be together, the connection between people. The threads can capture you, but they can also guide you like they guided Ariadne out of the labyrinth. The threads tight you down and by cutting they give loose ends, so they also represent life lines for me”.Leoniek Bontje studied Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 2008. She showed her work in different places and galleries. You can also see her work in LIFE the Gallery in Amsterdam (14 April until 26 May 2012) and in Galery37 in Haarlem (14 and 15 April 2012). In deze serie van Leoniek Bontje (Purmerend, 24-12-1969) staan vrouwen centraal.

Verleidelijke, zelfverzekerde vrouwen, zoals Brigitte Bardot in ‘Et Dieu... Crea la Femme’.

De vrouwen zijn sterk en kwetsbaar, lieflijk en soms wat grillig. Ze neemt een afbeelding van een vrouw als uitgangspunt, vaak uit de media, dus meestal een perfecte vrouw, die

ze bewerkt met naald en draad. Na bewerking blijven er alleen nog maar contouren, lijnen en draden over. Zij geven de vorm weer van

een vrouw maar ze kijkt op haar eigen manier, een beetje scheef. Ze is niet meer zo perfect....

De draden zijn als tekenlijnen, maar staan ook symbool voor het ‘web van het leven’,

voor de levensweg en voor de relaties tussen mensen. Die verbindingen en lijnen geven een verlangen weer van samenzijn, delen, één-zijn.

“Mijn draden geven het verlangen weer van verbonden te zijn met elkaar. Het zijn

netwerken, verbindingsdraden. Maar ze staan ook voor vastzitten of juist loskomen. In

draden kan je verstrikt raken, maar je kunt ook de draad van Ariadne volgen, als een leidraad

die je altijd de weg uit een doolhof laat vinden. Zo staan ze ook voor levenslijnen.”

In 2008 studeerde Leoniek Bontje af aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Ze

werkt als beeldend kunstenaar en exposeert op verschillende locaties. Daarnaast werkt ze als illustrator voor magazines en maakt ze foto’s, video’s en genaaide werken, vaak

gecombineerd in installaties. Binnenkort is haar werk te zien bij LIFE the Gallery te

Amsterdam (14 april t/m 26 mei 2012 ) en in Galerie37 te Haarlem tijdens verkoopdagen

van Winkeldochters op 14 en 15 april 2012. Leoniek Bontje wordt gerepresenteerd

door We are Void te Amsterdam.

Ik ben grafisch ontwerper en eigenaar van ontwerpbureau ‘hollandse

meesters’ en nieuwsgierig naar wat ik nog meer kan. Appelschuur is een project waarbij ik mezelf de ruimte geef om mijn grenzen te

verkennen. Ik werk zo veel mogelijk intuïtief. Appelschuur is ook letterlijk een schuur in de gigantische tuin van

mijn vader in Appelscha. De ruimte vult zich langzaam met voorwerpen

die ik ontwerp en maak.

De éénminuutfilms laten de schoonheid van achteloosheid zien.

Een registratie van een moment. Het beeld met het geluid

van die minuut. Bladeren verzameld in een plastic zak. Het bewegende

gordijn in een doorleefd Spaans hotel. Een dansend broodzakje in de wind.

Het is wat het is.

I am a graphic designer and owner of ‘hollandse meesters’ and wonder what else I’m capable of. Appelschuur is a project in which I allow myself to explore my limits. I follow my intuition as much as possible. Appelschuur is literally a huge shed in the garden of my father in Appelscha. The room slowly fills up with items that I design and make.

The one-minute films show the beauty of negligence. The registration of a moment. A picture with the sound of that minute. Leaves collected in a plastic bag. The curtain moving in a weathered Spanish hotel. A little bread bag dancing in the wind. It is what it is.

The purity of ordinary life in 1 minute. It is what it is. (stil)
