Hey Red Bulls, Most of us will be returning, if not already at, school sometime in the near

future. I hope you all had summers filled with service, and are prepared to face the challenges and obstacles ahead. Remember to keep studies your priority (and for those seniors, a proactive start on college applications will greatly help you out) and manage your time wisely. I’m excited for the possibilities of service and leadership that will arise over the next year, and am looking forward to see the various ways that members will step up to the plate.

T-Shirt designs have been chosen and more details will be released regarding the price of the shirts shortly. This year, we will have the option of both crew necks and V-necks! Additionally, be on the lookout for additional division and region gear. Speaking of region events, the Pixar themed Region 1.5 Training Conference will be taking place on October 4th at Steele Canyon HS. It will be an event filled with learning, spirit and tons of fun, and I hope to see you there. Stay tuned to your emails for more information!

Finally, Fall Rally South will be taking place on Saturday, November 15th at Six Flags. This is a huge fundraiser for PTP, and I encourage clubs to raise and donate funds leading up to the event, so we have capital to use for the leadership team auction. This is a great way to get members excited about taking on a bigger role in Key Club.

California State Games By: Miriam Kawy, Mt. Carmel High School

The Track & Field California State Games were held at Orange Glen High

School. I volunteered during the second shift so when I arrived, the event was

already bustling with busy staff. A staff member told me that help was going to

be needed at the clerk table (where the awards were handed out and the

athletes checked in). I was also informed that they help would be needed to

set up hurdles once it was time to do so. We handed out medals and ribbons to

the athletes who qualified. I occasionally checked in an athlete and gave them

their number tag. I spent the majority of my time on this. Throughout the event,

parents would ask us questions about the games, to which we would either

answer to the best of our ability or direct them to a more knowledgeable staff

member. During the last hour of the event, we set up hurdles for the races. It

was quite a hectic event, but it was fun to meet athletes and to watch all the

excitement!!

Father Joe’s Village By: Anna Huang, Torrey Pines High School

We went to Father Joe's Village in downtown San Diego where we

served those in need breakfast. The group and I made sandwiches in

preparation for lunchtime, served milk and soy milk, and helped to

clean up the kitchen and cafeteria when breakfast was over. Our

clean up included sweeping up crumbs, disposing of trash on the

floor of the cafeteria, and putting away dishes and left over food.

Even though we did this pretty early in the morning, the event was fun

and the other key clubbers made it a blast!

Spirit of the Fourth By: Connor Tou, Rancho Bernardo High School

We attended the annual Spirit of the Fourth event, hosted at Bernardo Heights

Middle School. The event was completely funded by donations that were

collected by spirited volunteers that joyfully greeted each and every spectator.

We also helped set up chairs for the VIP section and cleaned up as the event

progressed. Rancho Bernardo’s fireworks event was truly fun and patriotic.

Every attendee was either spreading joy, expressing their patriotism, and/or just

relaxing with their friends and family. After our hard work, we were able to enjoy

the loud spectacle of the anticipated event…the FIREWORKS! The event not

only consisted of an amazing fireworks display, but it also contained a large

variety of food vendors from gyros to funnel cakes to sliders. Spirit of the Fourth

was definitely very anticipated and fun.
