During the Month of July we Key Club at Rancho still helped out in the school’s guid-ance office to organize. Our job was to help clear the senior’s final transcripts and informa-tion in order so we can send it out. We all had shifts that were a hour long, where we either filed, put the correct information together, or cleaning out the office for our office lady. We helped her out so much her summer work was put off to ease and only made her worry about the upcoming freshman information. Also we helped out with the registration packet that was helped out by the Rancho’s personal ASB for them to needed hours for ASB camp. Although as a Club we did not go out to help people in the county, we decided that we should serve the school that has provided Key Club with everything we have asked for.– RanchoAlamitos.

Past Events

On June 28th, our club attended a Surf Rider’s beach clean-up on 17th street. Despite the event taking place bright and early on a summer day, a surprising amount of members came out to help. Collectively hauling our purple latex gloves and eco-friendly trash bags, we strolled onto the shores of Huntington Beach to start the project. It soon turned into a friendly compe-tition, diving after bottle caps and candy wrappers. Even though it wasn’t an enormous group of members that attended the event, we were able to collect at least eight pounds of trash all together. Truthfully, five of those pounds came from one member, but that just goes to show how spirited Key clubbers can be, even at 9 AM during summer. I personally enjoyed this event because of how well we worked together for a small group of members. Not wanting to be there for the whole four hours, we labored away; making sure the beach was spotless as fast as possible. US Open was probably a huge motivating fac-tor, but it doesn’t matter because we got the job done.– La Quinta

Beach Boomba

Beach Boomba was a BLAST! We started of the day with a beach cleanup picking up as much trash as we could find, After that there was a yoga session in which everyone could stretch their body and prepare themselves for a day filled with fun. After we got lunch, we held our monthly DCM in which we cover im-portant topics. Afterwards everyone got ready to watch the tug o war, and the watermelon eating contest. Then in the afternoon, every-one equipped themselves with water balloons as we play a huge game of capture the flag. When the water war was over, we instantly hopped to our next event, which was the pie-ing of the LTGs. I gotta admit, it felt good to shove a pie into my LTG’s face. After the messy creamy pieing, we settled down and got ready for the Bonfire. Overall the day was really fun, all the money went to PTP so I know I went for a good cause and I cant wait till Beach Boomba next year.

Concerts In The Park

Hi guys! So this month, my article topic will be about Concert in the Park at Fountain Valley Recreation Center! This isn’t going to be quite happy, but its something I would like to get off my chest before I explode from keeping it in.. Anywho! I really did not appreciate the attitude that was directed to me when I was confronted about a situation that I wasn’t aware of at the moment. I was the only one left, and they had taken all their anger on me, and it was way too much to handle, and I don’t believe I deserved it. I didn’t like the dirty looks I was receiving from adults, and how no one asked for my perspective, instead they just assumed and left me standing there near tears. I stayed an hour after my shift shocked and overwhelmed. I understand things didn’t go as planned, but I believe it didn’t have to go that far. WHOO, weights lifted from my shoulders! I feel extremely good now! HOW DO YOU GUYS FEEL?! -Jennifer Do La Quinta

2012-2014 District Project: Project Jumpstart

This year starts off an amazing new project for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District: Project Jump Start. This 2-year project is geared towards providing children from ages 0-5 a jump start during the most crucial years of an infant’s life. Project Jump Start is a great way to give back to your communities and give infants the jump start they need to succeed, one baby step at a time. The potential of Division 4 North is more than enough to make an impact on our communities through Project Jump Start. Project Jump Start allows children to have a successful childhood, and to one day grow to be competent, caring leaders like each and every one of us are today. By providing this support to young children, we are giving them the opportunity to grow and be-come strong-willed individuals. Not only does this project affect our communities, but it goes as far as to provide a benefit to children internationally. By focusing on children’s education, health, safety, and wellbeing – we will be giving children all around the world equal opportunities to have a fresh and vibrant be-ginning, a jump start. Now here’s the fun part: how to get involved. Simply, by finding a project, or even better, making your own. Working with local organizations is a great way to get involved in the District Project. Even Key Club International’s service partners: UNICEF, Children’s Miracle Network, and March of Dimes support our objectives in Project Jump Start. The amounts of service projects are endless, so what are you waiting for? I’m looking forward to hearing about your club participating in Project Jump Start. By submitting articles, visuals, and a de-scription of your project to Jimmy Fung [email protected] , you have a chance to be spotlighted on the CNH Cyberkey for the whole district to see your involvement in the District Project. To-gether, Division 4 North can make an im-pact: one baby step at a time.
