Anytown and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

•2016•

Experience the Cheyenne Spirit…

Settled by rugged pioneers following the path of the transcontinental railroad, Cheyenne beckoned settlers who moved into the flourishing town full of rowdy bars alongside elegant opera houses and theaters. From there Cheyenne grew into a business center for the West and, eventually, into the Capitol for the new State of Wyoming.

Cheyenne is a unique city, proud of its rugged past yet continuing to move forward. Outdoor adventure such as world-class mountain biking trails and business developments such as massive computer data centers illustrate this progress.

Come experience our West – in Cheyenne!

Explore Cheyenne…

Suggested HALF Day Itinerary: Go downtown to the Cheyenne Depot. A national Historic Landmark, the depot has been restored to its original glory and is once again a center of activity in the community. Tour the Art Deco lobby and visit the Cheyenne Depot Museum which chronicles the railroad and its relationship to Cheyenne.

In the depot, purchase tickets for the Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley which provides a 90-minute overview to the community and its history. The tour includes stops at various attractions, allowing riders to disembark for the attraction and then re-board the next trolley 90 minutes later.

Upon returning to downtown, spend some time at a couple of true western stores. Try The Wrangler for jeans, boots, hats, and other western apparel or Wyoming Home for its unique Western furniture and artwork. Or catch a ride on the free downtown horse-drawn carriage rides.

Suggested FULL Day Itinerary: Do the half day itinerary PLUS head south nine miles to the Terry Bison Ranch for a horseback ride or a train ride into the middle of the bison herd that calls the ranch home. Back in town, be sure to check out Big Boy 4004, the world’s largest steam locomotive (1.2 million lbs.). It was designed especially for the rugged Cheyenne to Ogden, Utah run.

Or head west 30 minutes to the spectacular rock formations at Vedauwoo Recreation Area, a rich playground for both the casual nature lover and the avid outdoor enthusiast. See page 12 for more information.

End your day watching the free Western skits and escapades of the Cheyenne Gunslingers at 6 pm in downtown Cheyenne (June-July). Then enjoy the Bit-O-Wyo Horse Barn Dinner Show in the beautiful mountains west of town (July-Aug). Or catch the Old-Fashioned Melodrama at the Historic Atlas Theater where you can cheer the hero and hiss the villain (July). Close down the evening with live music and dancing at the Outlaw Saloon or Cadillac Ranch Bar.

Get Out and Play!

Those who relish a four-season climate will enjoy Cheyenne. Here, you’ll find landscapes painted with rich fall colors, snow-capped winters, vibrant summer flowers and blue spring skies. And breath deeply; the American Lung Association routinely ranks Cheyenne its #1 “Cleanest Air” U.S. City.

Just west of Cheyenne, adventure awaits! A well-defined system of trails serve as bike and hiking paths in the summer, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and fat biking trails during winter; streams and reservoirs offer fishing and boating; and spectacular rock formations provide climbing and photo opportunities! The International Mountain Bicycling Association has designated the trails at Curt Gowdy State Park as “Epic”— their designation for the best trails in the region.
