Transcript of D. Martinez 10/03/13 GALS Science Symposium Oct 3, 2013.
Mobile Evaluationwithin DPI
•Smart Phones – display screen too small, poor visibility in sunlight
•iPads – rigid development environment, doesn’t work well in sunlight, pricey
•Netbooks – heavy, needs work surface for keyboarding, old technology
•Tablets – 10”, 7” – preferred for easy interaction

Nexus 7 - Tablet developmentData Mgmt signs out tablet to Crew Leader by tag numbers – i.e. Team 1 gets Tablets # SI026812, SI026813 for the day.Assumptions: We will have the entire database loaded on this so they will be able to
look at the overall map of the cores, and see the map for those Z grids. Maybe GPS points and/or driving instructions on how to get to the
different Cores. In the field, team turns on and completes Daily Team Info
•Provides Team Members (name or G###) that will be using that Tablet for the day•All transactions will be tagged by the Tablet SI#### and the Team Members (name
of G###)When you begin, you know what Core/Grid you are going to work OR you can search
for an address to find the property to begin.•You can then tap on Z grid map for it to bring up your property or see the list of
properties. •It will then alert you if there are any Refusal, No Waiver or Comments that you need
to be aware of. •It will ask them if they Want to Proceed and if so, it will capture date and time of
starting inspection •They can then record the details of their inspection actions taken on the property:
snails collected yes or no amount of bait applied any additional comments
•Once they are done they can hit Complete it will save the record and prevent them from ending with any missing data. ( )
•It will capture date and time of completed inspection.•It'll been returned to the Grid map indicate that the property has been completed. •We will need to have a way home which they can capture 24 hour notice is so they'll know which properties they can return to after 24 hrs. •Other Reference documents/tools?•Public Service Announcement videos
