CYBER CRIMECyber crime is the latest and perhaps the most complicated problem in the cyber world. Cyber crime may be said to be those species, of which, genus is the conventional crime, and where either the computer is an object or subject of the conduct constituting crime. Any criminal activity that uses a computer either as an instrumentality, target or a means for perpetuating further crimes comes within the ambit of cyber crime.

Cyber Crime Cases in MalaysiaIn 2003, police nabbed three people in connection with an Internet banking scam where they had allegedly transferred victims money after exploiting bank systems weakness to obtain victims password. One of the three was an employee of that bank.In 2006, 13 youths were nabbed for online banking scam and phishing, using email and fake websites to lure Internet users into providing their personal banking details, which are then used to steal from their account.Hacking of several Government websires including JPJ, Perak State Government and Parliament websites hacked in 2000. More hackings were affected on several official government websites.Furthermore,the effects of cyber crime in Malaysia was big.Virus attack and information theft offences had resulted in a total of RM500,000 loss to Malaysian companies within year 2001/2002 alone.Most cyber crimes are financially motivated. The impact of the economic downturn and financial crisis could potentially lead to the increase in cyber crime cases globally. With people becoming jobless and unemployed, it can lead to the boom in spam, especially those related to false job offers.Cyber crime causes a great loss in peoples property .computer viruses bring us lots of trouble. Trash mail is always a nuisance to everyone .worst of all pornography may corrupt people especially young people.

Cyber Crime Cases in USARecently three people were held guilty in online credit card scam. Customers credit card details were misused through online means for booking air-tickets. These culprits were caught by the city Cyber Crime Investigation Cell in California. It is found that details misused were belonging to 100 people.Ministry of Defense Satellite Hacked (February 1999). A small group of hackers traced to southern England gained control of a MoD Skynet military satellite and signaled a security intrusion characterized by officials as "information warfare," in which an enemy attacks by disrupting military communications. In the end, the hackers managed to reprogram the control system before being discovered. Though Scotland Yard's Computer Crimes Unit and the U.S. Air Force worked together to investigate the case, no arrests have been made.The 26,000 Site Hack Attack (Winter 2008). MSNBC.com was among the largest of the thousands of sites used by a group of unknown hackers earlier this year to redirect traffic to their own JavaScript code hosted by servers known for malware. The malicious code was embedded in areas of the sites where users could not see it, but where hackers could activate it.Cyber crimes can do serious harm to an organizations bottom line. We found that the median annualized cost of cyber crime of 45 organizations is $3.8 million per year but can range from $1 million to $52 million per year per company.Victims of cyberstalking often experience psychological trauma as well as physicalnd emotional reactions as a result of their victimization.Intellectual property theft in the form of trademark infringement, cyber squatters, and typo squatters had lead to a big loss for the property owners in USA. According a research from American Society for Industrial Security, American business have been losing $250 billion a year from intellectual property theft since the mid-1990s.

CONCLUSIONCyber crime in Malaysia and United States of America quite similar to each other. In both countries cyber criminal seems to be unpatriotic to their country since cyber crime can weaken their country economics as well as the defends system of the particular country. Besides, a lot of fund needed and spent to prevent this cyber crime from being spreaded all over the world. Cyber crime also brings awful effects towards social, economics and politic system of the nation. Thus, cyber crime must be prevented and every regulations to prevent this crime must be strengthen.
