Complete appraisal of: Climate Smart Agriculture in Tanzania (by Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa-AGRA); and Tanzania Agricultural Partnership, Phase II (by Agricultural Council of Tanzania-ACT). Both programmes focused on CSA and improvement of the value chain for smallholder farmers in the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT), the Breadbasket of the country. This included all elements of input to farmers (seed, fertilizer, etc.), increased production (emphasis on Conservation Agriculture), post-harvest losses and access to markets; and advocacy and policy issues. The Team provided substantiated advice on changes and improvements to the new programmes. Meeting with central stakeholders and partners in Dar es Salaam, and extensive field travel in Mbeya Region, meeting with farmers and stakeholders at local level.
