While working in Audit & Assurance Department of the firm and progressing from Audit Assistant to Senior Audit Associate position, my professional experience includes full scope statutory audits and half year reviews (of listed and unlisted companies), special assignments, audits of specialized entities, compliance reviews, financial statement preparation etc. My responsibilities included:

Planning and executing the audit in accordance with applicable International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) and KAM (KPMG Audit Manual)

Obtaining understanding of entity being audited, its environment and its internal control. Evaluating their operating effectiveness in order to determine overall reliance on entity’s internal control system.

Carrying out risk assessment procedures. On the basis of risk assessments and with the consultation of engagement manager, designed audit programs, test of control procedures and substantive procedures to address assessed risks.

Ensuring compliance of financial statements with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Accounting Standards (IAS’s) and related interpretations (IFRIC’s & SIC’s) as applicable in Pakistan.

Ensuring compliance of audit clients with applicable corporate and taxation laws. These include compliance with Companies Ordinance 1984, Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and industry specific regulations.

Analysis and review of financial and non-financial information for reasonableness of strategy, amounts and disclosures to be presented.

Verification of audit assertions associated with different financial statement items and considering their compliance with accounting standards

Preparation of management letter, identifying control weaknesses, relevant regulatory non compliances and accounting system deficiencies, their implications and recommendations.

Finalization of audit and drafting of deliverables. Reporting to group audit teams and coordination of the audit work with the team members during multi

location audit engagements. Assists in on the job training and coaching of junior team members and reviewing their work performed

and getting it reviewed by Engagement Manager and Partner. Liaising with the management of entity being audited and discussing auditing and accounting issues while

maintaining cooperative relationships.
