Facilitated establishment of “Safety Management System” (SMS) including arrangements for identifying, reporting, tracking and correcting safety issues and for the initiation of preventive action where necessary. As in-charge of Airfield Safety, was the focal point for all safety related activities, by instituting methods to identify hazards to air safety, carryout risk assessments & suggest risk mitigating measures. Initiated proactive & predictive measures to contain hazards & risks to “Acceptable Level of Safety”. Facilitated decisions on safety related matters. Coordinating and communicating with AAI & DGCA on issues relating to safety (ICAO Doc 9859). Undertaking ongoing review of the safety management system to evaluate its effectiveness and ensuring that improvements are made where required. Enforcing safety regulations.Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF): Monitor functions and role of ARFF A professional guide and link for efficient functioning of the airport rescue and fire fighting services. Trained in ARFF by CFEES, DRDO. Practical exposure in operations dealing with aircraft emergencies, responsible for safe and efficient conduct of rescue and fire fighting operations including adoption of fire prevention methodologies in the airport premises/buildings. Effective coordination with external authorities at a higher level to ensure an effective integrated response to emergency situations in the airport. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of each other’s goals in order to achieve high standards of awareness and preparedness. Fire safety inspections are carried out periodically to identify fire potential hazards and take proactive actions. Facilitate adequate fire safety training and exposure to all staff involved in rescue and firefighting. Emergency & Business Continuity Management (E & BCM): A professional guide and link for efficient functioning of the department. In-charge of Emergency and Business Continuity Management system required to ensure high level of safety and to facilitate quick and spontaneous response to an emergent situation (to protect life, property and sustain business continuity). Conduct of training, mock drills and conduct of audit on a periodic basis as per regulations. Prepare and update the Aerodrome Emergency Plan (AEP).
