The news- letter offers a glimpse of students activities and achievements, faculty achievements, industrial in- teraction and overall development of a department in a semester. I congratulate the entire “Cutting Edge” team for publishing this edition and extend my congratulations to all the contributors. I believe that newsletter is a medium that will bridge the gap between achievements and publicity. MED NEWS WE WELCOME

Mr. Pradeep Gupta, has joined as Professor in MED. He has done B.E,

M.Tech and Ph.D (Thesis submitted) from MNIT Jaipur. He is a project man-

agement Professional from PMI, USA and has done ICWA(I) and Diploma in

German. His area of interest are Energy Management, Energy Audit, TQM,

Operations Research etc.

Dr. Krishnendu Roy, has joined as associate professor in MED. He is B.Tech,

ME, Ph.D( University of Cambridge). His area of interest are HVAC conven-

tional, HVAC—Radiant and mechanical system design for desalination.

The ball mill consists of one

turn disc (sometimes called turn

table) and two or four bowls.

The turn disc rotates in one

direction while the bowls rotate

in the opposite direction. A ball

mill is a type of grinder used to

grind and blend materials for

use in mineral dressing

processes, paints, pyrotechnics,

ceramics and selective laser

sintering. It works on the princi-

of the shell. A ball mill con-

sists of a hollow cylindrical

shell rotating about its axis.

The axis of the shell may be

either horizontal or at a small

angle to the horizontal. It is

partially filled with balls. The

length of the mill is approxi-

mately equal to its diameter.
