Q Customer and Competitor Analysis

Type of work: Research, Analysis and Presenting

Date: January- March 2014

Strategy: To research, analyse and evaluate information on GSK customers and competitors

Objective:

To produce a set of materials on GSK customers and competitors to be used to produce a short presentation to present back to the GAPPA team

Involvement:

I will source all of the information and put it in a easy to read format to be presented at a later stage

Tactics:

- Using ‘Theyworkforyou.com’ to find parliamentary mentions of customers e.g. Tesco’s and competitors e.g. Johnson & Johnson on subjects such as; agriculture and farming, Scottish devolution, Health and Nutrition and legalised substances (Alcohol and Nicotine)

- To search customers websites for any relevant information e.g. using their corporate responsibility documents to find out which charities they are most aligned to

- To draw parallels between GSK values and those of our competitors and customers

- To produce a short (One slide) summary of information on our customers e.g. mission statement, purpose and values

- To search new sites such as the BBC and The New York Times for any customer or competitor mentions

Evaluation:

This work has since been developed into a full PowerPoint presentation and has been sent to members of the GAPPA team.

Reflection:

I really enjoyed working on this project as it encouraged me to work on my own, using all resources that I could find.

I found the topic really interesting as well and I learned a lot about the political processes of different customers and how they can be influenced by parliamentary decisions.

If I were to do this project again I would focus my search a lot better from the very beginning. There is a lot of information on these topics but not everything was relevant to my objective.
