Intel486™ Microprocessor Family Programmer's Reference Manual

The high integration Intel486 microprocessor maintains binary compatibility with previous members of the x86

architectural family, but it also possesses many enhancements. Among them

are new instructions that speed up the manipulation of memory-based semaphores and on-chip hardware that ensures cache consistency and provides hooks for mUlti-level caching. The most recent member of the family, the Intel486 DX2, incorporates new speed doubler technology that enables the chip to operate twice as fast as surrounding components.

PACKAGING INFORMATION 1/4

Packaging Handbook The industry move towards surface mount technology, denser packages, printed wiring boards, and systems has increased the requirement for detailed IC packaging information; this publication consolidates all relevant data for the IC package user in one place. It describes the process flows involved in manufacturing both plastic and ceramic packages; electrical, thermal and mechanical data by package family; shipping and handling information; and a thorough discussion of surface mount technology, handling and assembly information for surface mount components. In addition the handbook includes, in its entirety, the Packaging Outlines and Dimensions Guide.

Surface Mount Technology Principles and Practice, by Prasad This practical book explains the background of surface mount technology (SMT), how to use it, and supplies the information needed to use it most effectively. It describes how to build internal and external SMT infrastructures, manage risks, and set up implementation strategies and investment requirements. It covers the technical design issues involved with components and substrates and their impact on cost, quality and reliability, as well as SMT manufacturing. 640 pages.
