9880 • HDTV Enclosed Cat 5 Receiver (YPbPr, digital/analog audio) Perfect for situations where a wall plate form factor is not practical, the 9880 delivers the same signals as the 9878 and 9879, but in a self-contained, metal box form. Perfect for digital signage, wall-mounted displays, and other unique applications. Does not include an RF pass-through.

9878 • HDTV Wallplate/Receiver (dual-gang, YPbPr, digital/analog audio) Audio Authority’s first of its kind active Cat 5 wallplate has been imitated, but never duplicated. This two-gang plate takes two Cat 5e RJ-45 inputs, and offers component video, analog audio, digital coax audio, and an IR pathway. Powered from the Cat 5 bus, so it doesn’t require unsightly external power adapters. Also includes an RF pass-through for antenna connections (separate coax required).

9879 • HDTV Wallplate/Receiver (single-gang, Decora®, YPbPr, digital/analog audio) The second generation of Cat 5 wallplate from Audio Authority – the 9879 offers the same signal pathways as the 9878, but fits it all into a single-gang, Decora-style wall plate. Includes three colors of Decora inserts: white, ivory, and almond. Does not include an RF pass-through.

802-567 / 802-568 • Bus Cables (for AVAtrix and SixDrive, 4 or 7 port)System bus cables for AVAtrix expanders. The AVX-562 ships with a 802-567 which has two open expander ports available. The seven port 802-567 cable allows installation of up to five 1170, 1172, and/or 1176 expanders on the AVAtrix.

1172BK • AVAtrix Audio Breakout AdapterAllows the easy connection of whole-house audio amplifier components. Tracking mode outputs the audio from what a particular zone is viewing, while Source mode duplicates the source audio outputs for interfacing with a whole house audio amplifier matrix. Connects via internal system bus cable. Model 1191 rack ears included.

1109 • IR InjectorAllows IR control signals to be sent from an IR device near the AVAtrix out to IR emitters connected to wallplate IR jacks. Connections for up to six wallplate/receivers.

AVP-11 • UniDrive™ Cat 5 HDTV Point-to-Point ExtenderTransmit HDTV signals over Cat 5 to a destination up to 1,000 feet away from the source with our point-to-point UniDrive Cat 5 HD system. The AVP-11 carries component video, analog audio, and digital audio signals, and includes a three-wire pathway for IR control. Compatible with Audio Authority Cat 5 wallplate/receivers. Also available with 9879 Decora style receiver (AVP-11D).

HDP-11 • Cat 5 HDMI Ultra Long-Range ExtenderTransmits HDMI signals over Cat 5e/6 cables up to 450 feet, supporting 1080p and embedded stereo audio. Adjustable gain and EQ for maximum picture quality over long distances. Two Cat 5e/6 cables are suggested, but only one cable may be required in many installations.

EDP-11 • Cat 5 HDMI ExtenderThis all-digital extender transmits HDMI signals over Cat 5e/6 cables up to 150 feet, supporting HDMI 1.3 features including 1080p, 36 bit Deep Color, and lossless audio.

9A60 • VGA to Component Video Transcoder Audio Authority’s first product made for the home is still relevant today – this VGA to component converter converts from RGB to YPbPr colorspace without signal degradation. It does not change timing or resolution. The 9A60 may be incompatible with some laptop PCs, and may require additional software (not included) and/or changes to video card settings.

9A65 • Component Video to RGB Converter This component video to VGA converter is rated for resolutions up to 480p, and converts from YPbPr colorspace to RGB. Not recommended for use with high definition signals.

1362 • Composite / S-Video to YPbPr / RGB Converter Upconverting from composite or S-Video to component video has never been easier. The 1362 converts to either YPbPr or RGB output. An onscreen menu overlay assists in setup.

1365 • RGB to YPbPr / YPbPr to RGB Scaler Perfect for converting PC (VGA) outputs to component video. The 1365 accepts a wide range of common computer resolutions, and the onboard video processor cross-converts the input to 480p, 720p, or 1080i output for easy compatibility with consumer television displays.

1184 • Active Signal Hum Eliminator Eliminates video and audio hum caused by AC-line noise due to ground loops in coaxial cabling. Active circuitry isolates the input and output grounds, so the bandwidth is not limited by inductance, and the 1184 is not lossy as is the case with passive transformers. The 1184 strips DC from component or RGB video, and clamps black level to 0 volts.

979T • Analog to Digital Audio Converter Converts analog audio signals to digital coaxial or digital optical audio. The 979T is a high qual-ity ADC (Analog to Digital Converter), allowing for simple audio signal conversion with no degra-dation, and supporting variable sampling rates for maximum fidelity. Output is 2.0 channel PCM at 48KHz or optional 96KHz sampling rates.

979R • Digital to Analog Audio Converter Converts digital coaxial or digital optical audio signals to analog L/R audio. The 979R is a high-quality DAC (Digital to Analog Converter), allowing for simple audio signal conversion with no degradation, and supporting variable sampling rates for maximum fidelity. 1182 • Passive Video DC Blocker Some video sources leak DC voltage onto their component video outputs – this can interfere with the picture data, causing a poor image. This DC blocker maintains the original picture quality while removing the DC interference.

The AVAtrix Model AVX-562 is an HD matrix that delivers component video, digital audio and stereo audio signals for distributed video and home theater systems. Any of six sources may be routed to multiple remote wallplates or to the main output at any time. Each of the AVX-562’s outputs is terminated at a wallplate/receiver which provides a connection point for component video, digital audio, and stereo analog audio. Audio Authority’s innovative balanced line architecture, along with our Active Gain Equalization (AGE) technology, allows the signal to be transmitted up to 1,000 feet while preserving high definition signal clarity and vibrancy.

The Model AVX-562 is easy to install right out of the box with virtually no setup or assembly required for basic installations. The system is loaded with all the features and options needed for complex installations as well. It ships with its own IR remote control, and the AVAtrix IR and RS-232 control codes are available for download from Audio Authority as well as several remote control companies. Each source input can be given a custom name that is displayed on the fluorescent display. A flash memory slot allows easy firmware upgrades and provides a way for installers to quickly perform setup tasks using a PC for configuration.

Audio and video signals are carried on two Cat 5 cables to each wallplate/receiver. The wallplates are powered from the head end over Cat 5 – no power connection required at the zone. A return pathway for IR signals is included in the Cat 5 cable run. This pathway allows the AVAtrix to be remotely controlled via IR, and it also delivers discrete IR control signals to the sources.

The 1172 Audio Interface is a breakout adapter that allows the easy connection of whole-house audio amplifier components. It provides digital and analog audio to independent audio systems with integrated switching or systems with dedicated zone amplifiers. Connects via internal system bus cable and four jack screws.

Bus Cable for Adding More than Two Expanders

The AVAtrix has an internal ribbon bus cable that allows for two expanders (802-567). If you plan to add three to five expanders, the seven-port 802-568 bus cable is required.

Send IR Signals to or from the Head EndThe 1109 IR Injector allows IR control signals to be sent from a device near the AVAtrix out to IR emitters connected to wallplate/receiver jacks. Connections for up to six wallplate/receivers with each pathway operating independently to enable a mix of incoming and outgoing IR signals. Requires no power source.

The Model 1172 Audio Interface plays well with others—other whole-house audio systems, that is. The 1172 provides an audio breakout point for Audio Authority® AVAtrix HD Cat 5 Matrix systems to connect to an independent audio distribution

system of any brand that accepts stereo analog audio or digital audio. It can be used in two different ways: Source Mode, for use with an advanced audio system having its own integrated switching; and Tracking Mode, ideal for an audio system employing dedicated amplifiers for each room or zone. The Model 1172 Audio Interface is a companion product to the

AVAtrix HD Cat 5 Matrix Systems, such as the AVX-562 shown above.

The 1172 provides six audio source outputs to a whole-house audio

system to enable coordination of a room’s audio program with the

video program being received on an AVAtrix Cat 5 wallplate/receiver.

The 1172’s audio outputs, routed from audio/video sources connected

to the AVAtrix, thus complement any audio-only sources directly

connected to the audio distribution system. Audio signals from the

sources are also available at the wallplate/receiver outputs.

MODEL 1172: HOW IT WORKS

Tracking Mode is used with whole-house audio systems where the audio for each room is provided by an amp or receiver dedicated to that room. In this mode, each 1172 output switches its content along with the AVAtrix so that the audio distribution system’s output automatically matches what is playing on the video display in each room. In this way, when a video source is routed to the AVAtrix wallplate, the matching audio can be heard through the room’s speakers.

The Model 1172 supports two modes of operation: Source Mode and Tracking Mode. Both modes allow for infrared communication from the AVAtrix wallplate/receivers in each room back to a whole house audio system.

Source Mode simply supplies audio streams from the six AV sources residing on the AVAtrix to a whole-house audio distribution system. In Source Mode, it is the audio distribution system that selects which audio stream is to be sent to each room and also controls the AV sources resident on the AVAtrix.

The Model AVM-71 SixDrive™ incorporates the key signal paths necessary for premium audio and video distribution systems. Consisting of an 1171 MultiDriver and six 9879 Wallplate Receivers, the AVM-71 system distributes component video

In addition to the 9879 Decora-style wallplate/receiver (above, center) that comes with the AVM-71 system, Audio Authority offers the option of using the 9878 stainless steel, dual-gang wallplate (left) or the enclosed 9880 receiver (right). The three can be used in any combination with the 1171 and 1170.

Audio Authority’s unique selection of thoughtfully designed Cat 5 receivers are easy to install, and provide all the necessary signal types for

HD entertainment systems. Component video, digital and analog audio signals are carried on two Cat 5e/6 cables to each wallplate/receiver.

The active circuitry in the wallplates is powered through the Cat 5 bus, so no additional power supplies are needed at the wallplate locations.

The Cat 5 bus provides a pathway for a 3rd party IR remote control signals. IR signals from receivers at the zone locations are output on the

IR jack on the 1171 rear panel. In addition to the IR jack on the front of the wallplate, the 9879 has a unique auxiliary IR jack on the rear,

allowing IR to be easily routed inside the wall.

Driver and two 9879 wallplate/receivers, the DuoDrive distributes component video up to a resolution of 1080p, as well as both digital and analog audio, over two inexpensive, easy-to-install CAT 5 cables from a single source to two remote locations. Each of the two Model 9871 Driver outputs works over a pair of inexpensive, easy to install Cat 5 cables. The wall-mountable 9870D system accepts digital and analog audio, and HD component video inputs.

The Cat 5 outputs from a Model 9871 driver terminate

at 9879 wallplate/receivers, (or 9880 self-enclosed

receivers) which provide a remote connection point for

an HDTV video and/or audio sound system. The active

circuitry in the wallplates is powered through the Cat 5

bus, so no power connection is required at the remote

zone. Each receiver can be adjusted to compensate

for the cable length up to 1,000 feet. Component

video, digital and analog audio signals are carried on

two Cat 5 cables to each wallplate/receiver. A control

signal pathway for a 3rd party IR remote system is also

part of the Cat 5 bus. This pathway allows the desired

source to be selected remotely via IR.

DUODRIVE SYSTEM OVERVIEW The 9870D is comprised of the Model 9871 RCA-to-Cat 5 Driver and the Model 9879 wallplate. These products enable distribution of audio, video and IR control signals on Cat 5 cable runs of up to 1,000 feet. The buffered Cat 5 bus outputs on each 9871 drive one or two 9879 wallplates.

To expand output capacity of the system, connect together an unlimited number of Drivers using an Audio Authority Kit 46. The 9879 offers a wallplate/receiver form factor to fit a standard single-gang electrical box. DC power for each wallplate is supplied through the Cat 5 cable from the 9871’s power supply.

In addition to its Cat 5 outputs, the 9871 RCA bus output may be used as a pass-through output for a nearby HDTV and/or home theater.

The UniDrive delivers HDTV signals from a single source to one remote location up to 1,000 feet away. Unlike passive balun systems, the UniDrive employs Active Gain Equalization (AGE), dramatically extending range and signal integrity. In addition to HDTV audio and video signals, the UniDrive has a 3-conductor pathway for infrared control signals. This pathway can be used for signals traveling in either direction.

The system includes one Model 9880T Cat 5 Transmitter, and one Model 9880 Cat 5 Receiver. The cable length compensation adjustment on the receiver allows the installer to fine tune image quality over long Cat 5 runs. The Model 1391A Extender allows HDMI™ 1.3 signals to be transmitted over long runs of up to 130 feet without signal

loss or degradation. Its exceptional performance solves the problems of increased capacitance, signal attenuation, and display recognition when long runs of HDMI cables are used. The 1391A features an innovative DDC (Display Data Channel) correction circuit that prevents corruption of the low-speed data bus in an HDMI transmission — one of the major causes of HDCP handshake problems. It also equalizes the high speed video channels to insure the perfect image transmission expected when using HDMI. Many HDMI extenders equalize only the high speed video and clock signals, but Audio Authority’s 1391A treats high speed video, clock, and the DDC channel for maximum performance, making it an effective solution for custom A/V integrators.

the colorspace from VGA to component video, so it works well

when the source output is already in the resolution required by

Many satellite receivers and cable boxes do not offer simultaneous output on YPbPr and composite outputs. To distribute the same signal to TVs with HD component inputs as well as TVs with composite or S-Video inputs, a quality down-converter is required. The Model 1361 converts an HD component or PC video signal to standard analog NTSC or PAL video. Output is either composite and S-Video or standard definition component (YCbCr) format, with a simultaneous HD pass-thru. The Model 1361 settings are controlled via front panel push-button, an IR remote or an RS-232 interface and its over-scan feature allows you to fill the entire video screen.

Video Convertors/Scalers — solutions for mixed signal distribution systems

Some high definition signal distribution systems include one or more standard definition sources. To distribute these signals to HDTVs, a quality scaler is required. Audio Authority’s Model 1362 scaler converts a standard analog NTSC or PAL video signal to high definition component video (YPbPr). Input may be either composite, S-Video, standard definition component (YCbCr), or RGsB format. Output may be YPbPr or RGBHV.
