CURSORS 2020 Compile your thoughts

Cursors 2020 is a national level student lead technical fest under the guidance

of the faculty convenors and coordinators. The prime motive of having these

technical fests are to enhance ones technical , behavioural and managerial skills

by students being the participants of the events and organizers for the events.

Thus, the fest provides a great platform for everybody to expose their skills.

The underlying spirit of Techfest was "to promote technology and scientific

thinking and innovation" .

Cursors provides platform to students in many events. Cursors is equipped with

a guest lecture that introduces all the participants to the latest and emerging

technologies. Different styles of coding contests for students like code hunt ,

code war , code dual and a one weeklong contest fortnight coding for the

competitive programmers. A poster and paper presentation were the other

platforms where students can talk about their research work and their idea.

A brain-storming session where people who are willing to be the future

entrepreneurs could discuss their ideas and can learn a lot mutually with other

participants as well. An Entrepreneurship program that helps students to lead

their own business in the future is also organised. Besides that participants

were also given a platform to elucidate their project works in project expo. A

technical quiz for the participants to test the general knowledge of the

participants. Each event had its own judgement panel and an evaluator board

that finalizes the winners and runners. Prize money is given for all the winners

and runner and consolation prizes for the other participants.

Non-technical events respecting the domain of fine arts like singing , dancing ,

painting, short film making, and photography are organised.

Events to enhance student’s general knowledge and linguistics skills like quiz

and mock parliament were organised.

Page 5: CURSORS 2020 - cse.anits.edu.in · 3 Program Outcomes Graduate Attribute1: Engineering Knowledge PO-A An ability to apply the knowledge of basic engineering sciences, humanities,

5

Realizing the value of mother earth and in order to save her, a guest lecture was

organised, and also a plastic expo will be conducted where students will build a

model for reusing plastic and project their ideas.

To enhance ones analytical and problem-solving skills , events like puzzles and

riddles , digital treasure hunt etc were scheduled.

To make it more entertaining tiktok challenges , live games and treasure hunt

were scheduled. Food stalls provide the continuous supply of delicious food.

The last icing was sports which had badminton, koko, basketball, cricket, and

indoor games like chess and carroms.

Cursors is a festival of knowledge that depicts the best for the students. Cursors

is a good platform for students of other colleges as well, to learn more and

expose their skills. This legacy is being continued since 2010 and we heart fully

wish this continues …

2. K. Tanooja, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

Artificial intelligence has helped man to a greater extent. Many day-to-day

activities of human are monitored by automation of systems. Image processing

combined with AI has yielded many fruitful results till date. This is a sample

paper where parking in residential areas is made easy by using image processing

aided with AI. In residential areas like apartments, where many number of

vehicles enter and leave the parking area, this system can be established. The

main idea is to permit the vehicles that belong to the residents of the apartment.

The security gate should be opened to only fixed number of vehicles. This is

monitoed using AI. As the car approaches near the security gate, the sensor

established in the gate will be activated and camera connected to the sensor

clicks the picture of the license plate of the vehicle. The image of the license

plate will be processed and converted to string and stored. These strings are

compared with the previously registered vehicle numbers of the apartment. If

the vehicle number is previously registered, then the security gate is opened and

the vehicle can enter. Else the vehiclke has to be poarked outside. In this waty,

seurity can be provided to vehicles in residential areas.

Abstract:

Traffic collisions in India are a major source of deaths, injuries and property

damage every year. Accidents can occur anywhere, anytime therefore it is

necessary to develop a system to avoid accidents. Now-a-days accidents are

happening more frequently due to globalization, lack of attention, drowsiness,

fast speed of vehicles. To overcome this problem the system has been

developed in a simple manner using microcontroller, ultrasonic sensors. This

proposed system thoroughly scans if there is any possibility of a collision.

If there is any collision detected the system automatically applies brakes in

order to prevent the collision .This system plays an important role in avoiding

the road accidents.

2. S. Prathyusha, III/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

Cloud computing is a way of computing, where most of our data is stored in the

cloud, i.e , the Internet. A computing capability that provides an abstraction

between the computing resource and its underlying technical architecture (e.g.,

servers, storage, networks), enabling convenient, on-demand network access to

a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly

provisioned and released with minimal management effort. The goal of cloud

computing is to apply traditional super-computing , or high-performance

computing power, normally used by military and research facilities, to perform

tens of trillions of computations per second, in consumer-oriented applications

such as financial portfolios, to deliver personalized information, to provide data

storage or to power large, immersive computer games. To do this, cloud

computing uses networks of large groups of servers typically running low-cost

consumer PC technology with specialized connections to spread data-processing

chores across them.

Abstract:

Virtual Reality is regarded as a sort of computer technology to create a

simulated environment. Virtual Reality places the user inside an real 3D

experience, instead of viewing infront of the screen by simulating even our

senses by using omni directional tread mills, head sets, special gloves .These

creates an illusion for the user. Virtual Reality is attracting greater attention

from researchers and professionals. VR is proving its worth especially in

education, health care, military, business, sport. Considering an example of

medical colleges, students can be trained using VR.A virtual learning

environment is created for the students to understand the lectures that are given

theoritiaclly. Similarly entertainment industry which is a multi-billion dollar one

running is around this technology. This technology has both entertainment and

serious uses and becoming more wide spread. We can even expect more

innovative uses of this technology in future . The main aim is to create an

awarness regarding this technology and to provide a natural ,free flowing form

of interaction which resulting a memorable experience.

Title: “Artificial Intelligence In Medical Field”

Authors:

Abstract:

The future of „standard‟ medical practice might be here sooner than anticipated,

where a patient could see a computer before seeing a doctor. Through advances

in artificial intelligence (AI), it appears possible for the days of misdiagnosis

and treating disease symptoms rather than their root cause to move behind us.

Think about how many years of blood pressure measurements you have, or how

much storage you would need to delete to fit a full 3D image of an organ on

your laptop? The accumulating data generated in clinics and stored in electronic

Page 31: CURSORS 2020 - cse.anits.edu.in · 3 Program Outcomes Graduate Attribute1: Engineering Knowledge PO-A An ability to apply the knowledge of basic engineering sciences, humanities,

31

medical records through common tests and medical imaging allows for more

applications of artificial intelligence and high performance data-driven

medicine. These applications have changed and will continue to change the way

both doctors and researchers approach clinical problem-solving.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is computer science that uses algorithms, heuristics,

pattern matching, rules, deep learning and cognitive computing to approximate

conclusions without direct human input. By using AI, researchers can take on

complex problems that would be difficult – or almost impossible – for humans

to solve. Because AI can identify meaningful relationships in raw data, it can be

used to support diagnosing, treating and predicting outcomes in many medical

situations. AI has the potential to be applied in almost every field of medicine

including drug development, patient monitoring and personalized patient

treatment plans.

Top 4 applications of AI in medicine:

- Diagnose diseases

- Develop drugs faster

- Personalize treatment

- Improve gene editing

Similar to how doctors are educated through years of medical schooling, doing

assignments and practical exams, receiving grades, and learning from mistakes,

AI algorithms also must learn how to do their jobs. Generally, the jobs AI

algorithms can do are tasks that require human intelligence to complete, such as

pattern and speech recognition, image analysis, and decision making. However,

humans need to explicitly tell the computer exactly what they would look for in

the image they give to an algorithm, for example. In short, AI algorithms are

great for automating arduous tasks, and sometimes can outperform humans in

the tasks they‟re trained to do.

Advances in computational power paired with massive amounts of data

generated in healthcare systems make many clinical problems ripe for AI

applications. Below are two recent applications of accurate and clinically

relevant algorithms that can benefit both patients and doctors through making

diagnosis more straightforward.

Authors:

1. Gayathri Kolluri, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

In today‟s context text is the most common means through which information is exchanged

.Now adays all the industries are running after the implementation of raw text. Even vast

amounts of new information and data are generated everyday through economic , academic

and social activities. Techniques such as text and data mining are required .It‟s the trending

topic which is spreading across the world. Text mining is the process of deriving high quality

information from text . The high quality information is typically derived through the devising

the patterns and trends through means such as statistical pattern learning . It depends on the

present trending topic and varies according to the demand. It is the discovery of new ,

previously unknown information , by automatically extracting information from different

written resources like websites , books , emails, reviews etc. It is rearranging the raw data

which is already present and producing new techniques and algorithms.

Authors:

1. N. Sai Chaitanya, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

2. K. Sneha Kiran, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

It is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. It is a subset

of digital currency and doesn‟t have any physical representation. It doesn‟t have

a central regulating authority instead uses a decentralized system to record

transactions and manage the issuance of new units, it relies on cryptography to

prevent fraudulent transactions. Bitcoin is currently the largest blockchain

network, followed by Ethereum, ripple, Cardano etc. Blockchain is an open,

distributed ledger that can record transactions between two parties efficiently in

a verifiable and permanent way. It is a continuously growing list of records,

called blocks. Each block typically contains a cryptographic hash of previous

block, a timestamp and transaction data.

Blockchain mechanism:

Blockchain is comparable to unfinished book. Blocks have timestamp has book

has pages. A new block is always added after the block with the most recent

timestamp. A transaction occurs only once it is included in a block and added to

chain. Current state of block is downloaded, synchronized, made available by

large number of computers worldwide. To take care of correct and valid

transactions “consensus mechanism is followed by nodes.

Abstract:

Every time a technology reaches its limit it gives way to a new technology.

Now that we can see the classical computer has been reaching its limits and its

time to welcome a new technology. Classical computer fails in solving many

real life problems because nature has many states but classical computer has

only two states, on the other hand quantum computer has also two states but

both states can exists simultaneously due to q-bit.

This is an entirely new approach for computing, exploits the laws of quantum

mechanics for novel quantum computers, which enable the use of fast quantum

algorithms. The Quantum computer will have quantum bit memory space

termed qubit for several computations at the same time. If large-scale quantum

computers can be built, they will be able to solve certain problems

exponentially faster than any of our current classical computers (for example

Short‟s algorithm). Quantum computers are different from other computers such

as DNA computers and traditional computers based on transistors. Some

computing architectures such as optical computers may use classical

superposition of electromagnetic waves, but without some specifically quantum

mechanical resources such as entanglement, they have less potential for

computational speed-up than quantum computers

Title: “Smart Signaling System”

Authors:

1. Christina Nelapudi, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

2. Satya Kalyani, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

Traffic congestion is one of the biggest problems faced by densely populated

cities. Generally we come across the problem at a junction where we find

emergency vehicles struck in the traffic due to high density traffic. The ideology

of this system is to sense the presence of emergency vehicles within certain

range by setting appropriate conditions for the traffic signals to react

accordingly. This is implemented by detecting frequency of that vehicles

heading towards the traffic signals by using sound sensors. Once the sound

frequency is detected, the respective lane is provided with necessary signal for

Page 36: CURSORS 2020 - cse.anits.edu.in · 3 Program Outcomes Graduate Attribute1: Engineering Knowledge PO-A An ability to apply the knowledge of basic engineering sciences, humanities,

36

the emergency vehicles to pass the lane. As a result, the anti-clockwise traffic

controller system is disturbed to provide efficient results and again its execution

is made normal. In a scenario where the presence of emergency vehicles is

detected in more than one lane, First Come First Serve(FCFS) criteria is being

used. This paper presents a Smart Signalling System to specify the design of a

secure and well organized traffic flow, to assign a proper way ensuring a

promising result for moving of emergency vehicles smoothly.

Abstract:

MORE THAN 20 per cent of patients needing emergency treatment have died

on their way to hospital because of delays due to traffic jams and uncooperative

motorists, National Institute of Emergency Medicine (NIEM) secretary-general

Anucha Setthasathian said.

Similarly many are losing lives due to traffic delays. Recently we have seen lot

of deaths in a year and these are increasing day by day, which is due to increase

in population, from the data we have collected from the internet, one of the

survey has shown atleast a dozen people especially who injured in road

accidents lost their lives in bilaspur ( April 2016 – October 2016) while on the

way to hospitals. This might be a small count of people but these deaths have

shown a major life change to their families as some of their lives have turned all

of a sudden, their children and family need to work for their survival in order to

fulfil their basic needs.

We took a step in solving the problem by clearing the traffic and provide a way

for ambulance to reach the hospital faster instead of waiting in the heavy traffic.

Whenever an ambulance approaches a traffic signal and enters into a fixed

radius, automatically the traffic lights get altered so that the way is cleared by

not creating any disturbance in the traffic.

2. Madugula Sunila, ANITS, email: [email protected]

3. Madugula Nuthana, ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

The project “Twitter Scraping” has its primary goal is to identify the best tweets

among all the available tweets for a particular topic in twitter app. Twitter is a

micro-blogging site where users can broadcast status updates of 140 characters

or less. Considering a scenario of movie review, where a maximum of people

watch the movie post their feedback through twitter. There are scenarios where

a good movie gets negative feedback or a bad movie is encouraged. In order to

provide genuine reviews this project called Twitter scraping is helpful. Through

this project, the mechanism in which best tweet is found is by the number of re

tweets or likes for a tweet. Usually, people tend to show their opinion indirectly

by supporting or opposing others statement. Taking this into consideration, this

project has chosen a method to find out the tweet that got most number of likes

or re tweets and declare it as the best tweet. Apart from movie reviews, this

project can be used in various other areas like product reviews, identifying

rumors etc. Firstly, the tweets are gathered by selecting a particular domain

using a key word related to the domain. By scraping all the data related to the

domain, the tweet that has got more number of likes or re tweets is identified

and best tweet is declared.

Authors:

1. P.Aneel Kumar, ANITS, email: [email protected]

2. G. Vijay Satvik, ANITS, email: [email protected]

3. B.Venkat Sai Kishore, ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

The education sector is considered to have many security breaches.

Educational institutions have become more prone to cyber hacks due to:

Financial gain, data theft etc. The core idea of every hacker is to gain personal

data or financial credentials to withdraw money. With schools and colleges

handling a large number of student fees, they are susceptible to cyberattacks.

What else than hacking personal information and sending them to the third

party? Well, this is what hackers do! Since schools and colleges are

incompetent in handling a huge amount of sensitive details of students during

admission, so this sector will become a prime target for cyber frauds in India.

Every individual would like to secure his/her personal information by not

revealing it to others unnecessarily. But we do not insist in giving information

to the educational institutions. So all the important data will be stored in the

institutes. As educational institutes are the only industries with low security

measures, this is the place where hackers can easily penetrate to collect

enormous data. So there is a need to secure the data using advanced algorithms

like, Elliptic curve cryptography and AES.

3. A. Harshini, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

4. P. Rohitha, II/IV ANITS, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

Technology has grown tremendously but risk of life is still constant. Since ages,

there‟s a saying called “Prevention is better than cure”. Similarly protecting our

lives is very important. Here is a system to prevent accidents especially major

accidents that happen on hill stations. In hill sations there will be number of

curves and hairpin bends and the accident rate and death rate is increasing day

by day and the drivers may not have the possibility to view the vehicle

approaching in the opposite direction.

To reduce the accidents in the hill stations and to expand their lifetime are the

two major considerations in our project. Our idea is to place sensors that are

outfitted with the battery powered devices on hill stations. It is impractible to

change the battery for all the devices if the network is implemented in huge

area. As per the statistics researchers estimate that the world‟s fleet will reach 2

BILLION motor vehicles by 2020.Usually drivers are not aware of the vehicles

coming the opposite direction with curves and hair pin bends , In order to avoid

these accidents we are introducing INFRADED SENSORS. When a particular

vehicle reaches in the range of the sensor the infrared rays detect vehicles and

led glows on the opposite side . The entire system is programmed and

automated. By seeing the intensity of the LED light, driver can become alert of

the vehicle and drive carefully thereby preventing the accident.

Title: “E-Mail Spam Filtering Using Machine Learning”

Authors:

1. G. D. S. R. Abhishek, Vignan Institute of Information Technology Duvvada,

Abstract:

In recent times, unwanted commercial bulk emails called spam has become a

huge problem on the internet. The person sending the spam messages is referred

to as the spammer. Such a person gathers email addresses from different

websites, chatrooms, and viruses. Spam prevents the user from making full and

good use of time, storage capacity and network bandwidth. The huge volume of

spam mails flowing through the computer networks have destructive effects on

the memory space of email servers, communication bandwidth, CPU power and

user time. The menace of spam email is on the increase on yearly basis and is

responsible for over 77% of the whole global email traffic. Users who receive

spam emails that they did not request find it very irritating. It is also resulted to

untold financial loss to many users who have fallen victim of internet scams and

other fraudulent practices of spammers who send emails pretending to be from

reputable companies with the intention to persuade individuals to disclose

sensitive personal information like passwords, Bank Verification Number

(BVN) and credit card numbers.

To effectively handle the threat posed by email spams, leading email

providers such as Gmail, Yahoo mail and Outlook have employed the

combination of different machine learning (ML) techniques such as Neural

Networks in its spam filters. These ML techniques have the capacity to learn

and identify spam mails and phishing messages by analyzing loads of such

messages throughout a vast collection of computers.

In Content based filtering user can create automatic filtering rules and to

classify emails using machine learning approaches, such as Naïve Bayesian

classification, Support Vector Machine, K Nearest Neighbor, Neural Networks.

This method normally analyses words, the occurrence, and distributions of

words and phrases in the content of emails and used then use generated rules to

filter the incoming email spams.

Title: “Search Engine Result Refining”

Authors:

1. Chandrasekhar, VIIT, email: [email protected]

Abstract:

Crawling is the discovery process in which search engines send out a team of

robots (known as crawlers or spiders) to find new and updated content. Content

can vary it could be a webpage, an image, a video, a PDF, etc. but regardless of

the format, content is discovered by links. Search engines process and store

information they find in an index, a huge database of all the content they‟ve

discovered and deem good enough to serve up to searchers. When someone

performs a search, search engines scour their index for highly relevant content

and then orders that content in the hopes of solving the searcher's query. This

ordering of search results by relevance is known as ranking. In general, you can

assume that the higher a website is ranked, the more relevant the search engine

believes that site is to the query. It‟s possible to block search engine crawlers

from part or all of your site, or instruct search engines to avoid storing certain

pages in their index. While there can be reasons for doing this, if you want your

content found by searchers, you have to first make sure it‟s accessible to

crawlers and is indexable. Otherwise, it‟s as good as invisible.

Swatch Bharath Campaign The faculty and the student members of the department of Computer Science

Engineering ,ANITS has lend their hands to the janitors in maintaining the

ambience , cleanliness and hygiene for a hygienic environment.

Elucidating that hygienic maintenance of our mother earth was the basic thing

that should be learnt by everyone and such are the things that are to be first

learnt in either schools or colleges , an initiation was taken by the head of the

department of computer science engineering , Prof. Dr. R. Sivaranjani followed

by many other faculty members and student body communities of ANITS.

The motive of clean ANITS and green ANITS is that if we attempt and try to

keep ANITS clean, then automatically that would help India to be green. A

Green environment is a result of the cleanliness which we should help ANITS

in doing so. the main aim of the Clean ANITS Green ANITS is to stop the

unlimited cutting of the trees and to decrease the production of pollution. The

Mission is about planting more and more trees to bring the greenery and fresh

environment back. The recently started Together We can Team , Computer

Society of India team and ACM teams of ANITS student branches help their

hand to the welfare. Doing anything together is fun and so is cleaning and

maintaining our personal hygiene with the best minds of ANITS.

All of them are provided with cleaning resources and they are provided with

masking resources. The other members who lead their hand are Dr. M.

Ramakrishna Murty, Dr J. Hyma, Dr. K. S. Deepthi, Mr.s S.V.S.S. Lakshmi,

Mr. G. Eswar Rao , Mr. G. Sathar, Mr. P. Krishnanjaneyulu , Mr. R.Kiran in

collaboration with the NSS team of ANITS.

Prof. Dr. R. Sivaranjani also mentioned that this is the best way to get some

physical fitness , break and relaxation from work and the best time to socialize

with either students or faculty as there would be a very less time in professional

hours.

Dr. K. S Deepthi and Mrs. S.V.S.S Lakshmi mam also addressed the gathering

that Swatch Bharath is not just keeping our environment clean but also our

hearts and souls , our thought process and mind too. They advised all the people

who gathered to practise meditation and Yoga to keep ourselves healthy

physically and psychologically. The session was ended with the same joy and

enthusiasm as how it started. Few students mentioned that they had good time

and better interaction with their favourite faculty.

Heading for Extinction Talk Many of the faculty and the student members from the department of CSE has

realized the emergency and the danger we are in with respect to the computer.

Most of them people addressed that they are glad they are living in new

generation where the technology is highly developed with best infrastructure but

deep inside , we are ruining every one of us ourselves. “The everyday pollution

we do is that simple invisible mass suicide we are committing. We are because

of our mother and now we are declaring a war on her, as if we were a joke” said

master Gopisetty Prudhvi Raj who was an environmental activist and a IV/IV

CSE of ANITS.

Understanding the depth of the situation and need of environmental awareness

Prof. Dr. R. Sivaranjani , Dr. J. Hyma , Dr. K.S Deepthi, Dr. M. RamaKrishna

murthy, Mr.s S.V.S.S. Lakshmi, Ms N. Lokeswari, Mr. G. Eashwar Rao and

Mr. S. Joshua Johnson supported him by all means to do whatever he can do.

With best research and hard work , that student organised a session addressing

all the freshmen from all the departments about the climate crisis with his friend

Ms Deepsri. She is his pal who is a tenth grade student from little angles school

who has been a proactive climate activist in extinction rebellion and a vegan

activist has been protesting from the past 14 weeks pursuing the government to

declare climate crisis and climate emergency. Despite her Central Board of

Secondary Education Board exams ,she took her time to come to the college and

address all the students.

Inspired by her a few of the sophomores and the III/IV CSEs also attended the

guest lecture. She addressed the gathering with the facts and figures elucidating

that those maybe scary. She soothed all the audience after the scary facts

presentation and gave the best methods that could be done to reduce pollution in

our atmosphere. Few of the students immediately joined the extinction rebellion

visakhaptnam chapter.

Impressed , inspired and motivated by her a few people pledged there in the

auditorium that they shall follow the best go green lifestyle.

The event was successfully hosted with the extreme support from fest faculty

convenors , Head of the departments of CSE , Mechanical , Chemistry and

coordinates of the freshmen.
