Multifunctional, stimuli-responsive materials:

- Magneto-electric composites for energy conversion and smart sensors, including composites

of piezoelectric and magnetostricitive materials.

- Technology and physical properties of stimuli-responsive origami patterns, and their appli-

cations in micro- and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS)

Biotechnology:

- effect of magnetic field on mammalian cells and application of multiferroic nanaoparticles

in biotechnology.

Solar energy harvesting- thin film solar cells.

Surface and interface effects in magnetic materials:

- Exchange bias, exchange coupling, spring magnets,

- Surface anisotropy, surface magnetostriction.

Spin dynamics and spintronics:

- High frequency properties of nanostructured materials. In particular, microwave response of

materials in the form of arrays of nanodots or antidots.

- Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with non-collinear spin systems such as helical ar-

rangement.

- Spin dynamics in nanomaterials including thermal stability of magnetization in nanoparti-

cles, superpara-magnetism.

Applications of magnetic materials and methods in:

- information technology, ultra-high density recording media and

- magnetoresistive random access memories;

- microwave devices for wireless communications; smart sensors.

- Non-destructive testing of materials using magnetic methods.

Improving teaching methods in the solid state physics, materials science and applied physics.
