professionals to visit South Africa in August 2000 to study primary, secondary and

university teaching of English language, literature, writing, and teacher preparation. April

28, 2000, The goal of “People to People” is to promote international understanding and

co-operation, and it was founded in 1956 by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower within

the context of international peace initiatives.

My article Oasis of Peace: A Community of Moral Education in Israel published in the

Journal of Moral Education, Vol.24, No. 2 in May 1995 was considered for the Charles

De Benedetti Prize in Peace History (Washington, D.C.) in September 1997. They

deemed this article to fit their category of an “exemplary response of an individual to

peace and war issues”.
