Special emphasis was on robustness of the recognizer for which NOISEX-92 database was used to generate noisy signal ranging from 30dB to -5dB using car noise, speech noise, F16 noise and machine gun noise. Also, some aspects of Audio-visual speech recognition was explored in this research. PhD from Loughborough University, UK (1999-2002) Title: Wavelet-Based Techniques For Speech Recognition Brief Summary: In this thesis, new admissible wavelet packet-based techniques have been developed for the extraction of features from speech signals for the purpose of automatic speech recognition (ASR). In order to establish the robustness of the proposed features, the noise performance is also studied at different levels of signal to noise ratios and a new technique of robust wavelet-based sub-band features has been proposed. Furthermore, a new pre-processing stage based on wavelet denoising is proposed to enhance the recognition performance under noisy conditions. M.Sc. Engg. A new feature extraction technique was used on the pre- processed handwritten Devanagari characters. These features were given to an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based classifier for the recognition of handwritten characters. Qualification Univ./Board Year Percentage (%) M.Sc. Engg. Title: Wireless Body Area Network for Health Monitoring

Duration: 2 years, 2011-13.

Amount: Rs 79.32 lacs

Collaborators: IIT Delhi, AMU and GH Patel College of Engg. & Tech. Gujarat

The aim of the project was to develop Wireless body area network for monitoring vital parameters

of patients in remote locations and requiring continuous monitoring. The system will also facilitate

monitoring of aged patients living in old age holes requiring continuous monitoring of body

parameters like ECG oxygen contents and body temperature while carrying their routine work.

Such system will specially be useful for remotely monitoring patients residing in remote rural areas.
