Personal Involvement: Participated in randomisation of patients' at risk of developing pre-

eclampsia into study group receiving vitamin C and control group. I analysed data and

presented the results.

Outcome: The study was published in Ain Shams medical journal and I was awarded Master

2. The role of endometrial Leukemia Inhibitory Factor gene expression in failure of

implantation after Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection. Ain Shams University Maternity

Hospital, Cairo, Egypt.

Personal Involvement: Collected endometrial samples from 60 patients having failed

implantation after ICSI and 30 controls, liaised with histopathologist for testing LIF gene

3. Intradermal sterile water injection in management of pain during labor. Ain Shams

Personal Involvement: Randomised 60 patients to cases receiving intradermal saline

injection as pain relief in labour vs controls. I analysed the data.

4. Blind vaginal versus cervico-vaginal fetal fibronectin testing for prediction of preterm

birth. A comparative study. Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital, Cairo, Egypt.

Personal Involvement: Obtained two different vaginal swabs from 50 patients with

threatened preterm labour, analysed the data.

5. Intrauterine insemination timing after hCG administration in unexplained infertility.

Role: Audit lead, Proforma designing, data collection, analysis &

presentation of retrospective audit over one-month period (December 2015)

of all patients delivered in Warwick Hospital

Outcome: . At least 23% were mobilised and 65% had their catheter out

more than 6 hours after delivery with regional anaesthetic with average of

10 and 10.4 hours respectively. 60% of women were discharged by day 1;

18% were inpatients for >/= 3 days, the majority of which had EMCS or

instrumental deliveries. 20% of women had no clinical reasons that could

have delayed discharge. 3.2% re-admission rate.

31/07/2015 Management of Ectopic Pregnancy Audit

Warwick Hospital

Role: Proforma designing, data analysis, setting recommendations and audit

presentation. Retrospective audit over twelve-month period (Jan 2014-Dec

2014) of 26 patients with ectopic pregnancy. I performed literature search,

data extraction onto specially devised audit tool and analysis using SPSS,

PowerPoint presentation in departmental audit meeting.

Outcome: 98 % compliance with diagnosis and confirmation of ectopic

pregnancies, diagnostic capabilities were high and guidelines were

followed, recommendations were made and implemented for introduction of

serum Progesterone as an accurate diagnostic tool.

05/12/2014 Management of PPROM Audit

Warwick Hospital

Role: Data collection, analysis, writing report, recommendations and audit

presentation. Retrospective audit over six-month period (Oct 2013- Mar

2014) of patients with PPROM. I presented in departmental audit meeting.

Outcome: 100 % compliance with inpatient management and steroids

administration. 50% compliance with informing paediatrician of admission

and only 25% of patients were kept under observation for 24 hours.

Recommendations focused on adherence to guidelines and communication

with paediatric team and SCBU.

01/06/2012 Multiple Pregnancy and Birth Audit

Warwick Hospital

Role: Data collection, analysis & writing report. Retrospective audit over

four-month period (Oct 2011- Jan 2012) of 9 patients with twin

pregnancies.

Outcome: Recommended schedule was followed in 89% of cases. EFM

was done in 100%. All deliveries were attended by obstetric registrar and

two midwives. Position of second twin was checked in all the cases.

Management plan was only documented in 44% of health care records The

paediatrician was informed in 78%. Syntocinon infusion was only used in

56% of cases and only 33% of birth notes were fully completed.

15/07/2013 Management of massive PPH Audit

Warwick Hospital

Role: Data collection, analysis & writing report. Retrospective audit over

six-month period (Jan 2013- Jun 2013) of 13 patients with massive PPH.

Outcome: Blood loss was documented in 100%. Initial management was

done in 100%. Calling for help was done in 85% of cases. Major PPH

proforma was used in 77% of cases.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE Ongoing Active participation in preparing and delivering some weekly teaching

sessions to junior doctors as per the rota.

Active participation in Trust’s bed-side teaching as well as instructing

medical students and junior doctors in theatre and in labour ward

management skills.

Active participation in Departmental meetings to discuss topics of

special interest as well as case presentations in the presence of senior and

junior medical and midwifery staff.

Warwick Hospital for outpatient surgical management of miscarriage.

I designed a guideline and presented the project in local Gynaecology Group

meeting

Ongoing Enhanced Recovery Programme implementation, auditing and designing

forms to be used with each Caesarean section to ensure the midwives are

complying with Enhanced Recovery components and to be used for re-audit.
