MATHWe will use a math workshop model which will consist of a daily warm up, mini lesson, and guided groups.
Textbooks are used as a resource only and are available through Launchpad on the AES website
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday for all math students.

FCS uses a reading and math screener called FastBridge
that will help us plan for instruction.
Administered three times a year to all students.
First screening - August
5th graders take the IOWAs, Georgia Milestones, Formative
and Summative Assessments.
The TAG department does its own screening for TAG
which will begin during the second semester.
Assessments
What is AES Time:
30 minute block of time for enrichment and
intervention based on student needs.
Grouping will change throughout the year.
AES Time will take place during the Science/SS block.

Students in TAG will be given an opportunity to
complete classwork as needed.
TAG Days
iReady, and iRead are all available through LAUNCHPAD
on the AES Website.
Microsoft 365 is available on the AES Website through
student online resources/ LAUNCHPAD as well as
throughout our 5th grade website (HOMEWORK). It will be
used this year on a regular basis.
TECHNOLOGY
Project Based Learning is a teaching method in
which students gain knowledge and skills by
working for an extended period of time to
investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging
and complex question, problem, or challenge related
to grade level standards.
PBL
DBQ is an acronym for Document Based Questions
and is a teaching method in which students gain
knowledge and skills by using a variety of documents
(primary & secondary sources) to research and
respond to an authentic, engaging and complex
questions using evidence from multiple
resources. Questions are related to grade
level standards.

Test = 50% A = 90- 100%Classwork/Quizzes = 40% B = 80 - 89%
Homework = 10% C = 70 – 79%F = Below a 70%
Recovery is for students that do not earn a 70 or above on
assessments. Students will be remediated and will have the
opportunity to retake the test to earn up to a 70%.

Friday Folders will go home the 2nd and 4th
Friday of the month.
Please review papers, sign the coversheet, and
return the entire packet on Monday.
