This is Paul (hold up doll #1) and this is Silas (hold up doll #2). God helped Paul and Silas GO and TELL everyone everywhere that Jesus wants to be their friend forever.”

STORYTELLER: “One day, Paul and Silas were walking around town telling everyone that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Let’s GO and TELL with them!”

(Repeat the rhyme a few times or as long as the children are interested and then continue.)

STORYTELLER: “Well, the mean king didn’t like that! He didn’t want Paul and Silas telling people about Jesus. He got so mad that he put Paul and Silas in a small room and put a guard by the door! They couldn’t get out! (Place dolls in the shoebox.)

“Paul and Silas started singing songs to God because they loved God very much. While they were singing, the ground began to shake. It shook so hard that the walls of the room fell apart. Paul and Silas were free! (Pick up the dolls) Yay! They could run away!

“But they didn’t run away! They stayed and told the guard that Jesus wants to be his friend forever. Then they went and told his family that Jesus wants to be their friend forever too.

STORYTELLER: “Thank you for being such great listeners today. Now let’s put our hands together, close our eyes, and talk to God.

“God, we know sometimes it will be hard to GO and TELL others about Jesus. Thank You for helping us. Thank You that Jesus wants to be our friend forever. I pray every child in this room will follow Jesus and want to GO and TELL others about Him. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

1. Around the World “Tell the World” is an activity that encourages the use of fine motor skills as

children construct a heart shape earth.

What You Need: Inflatable globe.

What You Do: Before the activity: Sit in a circle with the kids. Show the globe to the kids and explain what it is.

During the activity: Say the Memory Verse as you pass it back and forth to each other.

At the end of the activity: Say the Bottom Line with the kids.

What You Say: Before the activity: “Look at this ball I have. (Turn the ball all around and point out which areas are land and which areas are bodies of water.) This is a globe. A globe shows all the earth. We live right here. (Point to your country.) And all this blue is water. Isn’t the earth amazing? God made all of it! Today as we say our Memory Verse, let’s pass this earth ball to each other around the circle.”

During the activity: (Start passing the ball.) “‘Go and make disciples of all nations,’ Matthew 28:19. Great! Keep going! (Repeat as many times as desired.) Super job!”

At the end of the activity: (Hold the globe up in the air and spin it slightly.) “Great job saying the Memory Verse today! The Bible says, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations.’ Our verse tell us to go everywhere—even all over the world—to tell people that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Jesus loves us and wants to be our friend forever! Who wants to be your friend forever? (Pause.) Jesus wants to be my friend forever!”

At the end of the activity: Say the Bottom Line and write their name on their paper.

What You Say: Before the activity: “Hey, friends! Come over and sit with me! Today’s story was about two of Jesus’ friends named Paul and Silas. Paul and Silas loved traveling around telling everyone everywhere all about Jesus. Let’s make a picture telling about the story.”

During the activity: “In our Bible story today, we heard how God helped Paul and Silas GO and TELL everyone everywhere that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Color in the night sky on your picture. One day, Paul and Silas were walking around town telling everyone that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. They said, ‘Jesus is my friend. Oh, yes, it’s true! Jesus is my friend. And He’s your friend, too!’ Well, the mean king didn’t like that! He didn’t want Paul and Silas telling people about Jesus. He got so mad that he put Paul and Silas in a small room and put a guard by the door! They couldn’t get out! Can you show me where Paul and Silas are? (Point to the picture of Paul and Silas behind bars.) That’s right! But Paul and Silas started singing songs to God because they loved God very much. While they were singing, the ground began to shake. Hold up your pictures and shake them with me. (Demonstrate.) It shook so hard that the walls of the room fell apart. Did your walls come down on your picture? (Pause.) Paul and Silas were free! Yay! They could run away! But they didn’t run away! They stayed and told the guard that Jesus wants to be his friend forever. Then they went and told his family that Jesus wants to be their friend forever, too.”

At the end of the activity: “Paul and Silas wanted to GO and TELL everyone everywhere about Jesus, no matter how hard it was. They knew God would always help them. God will always help us GO and TELL, too, because He wants everyone everywhere to know that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Who wants to be your friend forever? (Pause) Jesus wants to be my friend forever!”

What You Say: Before the activity: “Our Bible story today told us that we are to go and tell everyone about Jesus, even when it’s hard. Let’s use our pompoms to say our cheer today. Spread out and get ready!” (Pass out the pompoms.)

During the activity: “Start shaking your pompoms! (Run in place) Go! (Hands over head) And tell! (Run in place) Go! (Hands over head) And tell! (Lean forward with elbows out. Roll fists over each other while swaying side to side.) Who wants to be your friend, your friend? (Lean forward with elbows out. Roll fists over each other while swaying side to side.) Who wants to be your friend? (Pump right fist in the air.) Jesus! Again!” (Continue as long as interest holds.)

At the end of the activity: “That was so much fun adding the pompoms to the cheer! The Bible tells us to go and tell everyone that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Sometimes it will be really hard to do, but Jesus can help us do hard things. So tell me: Who wants to be your friend forever? (Pause) Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Super! Say it again and this time shake your pompoms! Who wants to be your friend forever? (Pause.) Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Fabulous!” (Collect pompoms and send home.)

4. Pompom “Pompom” is an activity that reintroduces the Bible story while children prepare

At the end of the activity: Say the Bottom Line together with a pompom shake, and put pompoms aside to take home.

What You Say: Before the activity: “We learned today that Jesus loved His friends Paul and Silas so much and helped them when things were hard. Jesus loves us very much and wants to be our friend forever, too. Jesus is there to cheer us on, so let’s make a pompom!”
