Alaslamu Alikum,
My name is Rania Zeithar, this is my fourth year working with the ICN Afalah Academy team,
and my second year as the Arabic team lead. In the other hand this is my sixth year working in
public schools with the Kendall County Education Cooperative.
We all know the importance of learning Arabic for our religion and understanding the holy book of the
Quran. As an Arabic team at ICN Alfalah Academy, we totally understand all the challenges we and the
parents face to teach our students and kids the Arabic language, as a third language for the majority of
the families. Especially we try our best to teach Arabic as a new language for students in different
grades in 50 minutes per week. Our mission can be successful , just with your help and cooperation.
We built our Arabic curriculum depending on all of these points
1- The importance of Arabic for reading and understanding the Quran.
2- Arabic is mostly a third language for the students and we need to teach it in short time.
3- The fact that we need our student to love the Arabic and love coming to the weekend school.
Pre-K to 2nd
grade
In these grades we focus on the Arabic letters, the look and the pronunciation. Also we teach
our student the Arabic numbers to 10, the long vowels (Horoof almad) and the short vowels
(Altashkeel). We try to add Arabic fun games in each class so the students can learn with fun
way.
3rd
grade to 7th
grade
For these grade we teach more Quranic Arabic. We always review all the basic Arabic in the
beginning of the year, then we try to focus more on the words and the sentences mostly from
the Quran. In our curriculum also we teach the rest of the numbers in Arabic or at least the
students would be able to identify the Arabic numbers in English. Also we teach some
important Arabic grammar in the 6th
and 7th
grade. We also add projects, activates and Arabic
games to the Arabic classes.
This year we started the Arabic adventure program. We go around the classes and make Arabic
competitions with games and questions and give gifts and prizes for the students who
participate, also I try my best to give a chance to every students to participate in the Arabic
Adventure program. I also tell the students “The best way to win is to pay attention to your
teacher, and do your homework, so you can answer more questions and get more prizes.”

As Arabic team we also understand that we are in Islamic school, so we try to make
conversations with the students and encourage them to ask questions and find the best answer
for their questions. So we can built the best relationship between the students and their
teachers.
Thank you so much for your help and support and we still need them for the best benefits for
our children isA.
