reviews, participate in promotion and tenure reviews, and will participate in the new post tenure review process beginning Spring semester 2012. Organize faculty retreats (2005, 2009, and 2012) and oversee academic program review (2008) and assist in implementation of outcomes. Work with CANR Dean to develop and implement programs.

Other duties as needed. Director, Avian Biosciences Center (ABC) Oversight for University of Delaware Poultry Health System (UDPHS)-focusing on poultry disease diagnostics.

Oversight for UDPHS entry in 2006 in the USDA National Animal Health Laboratory (NAHLN) and related ongoing activities. Includes foreign animal disease (high path avian influenza and virulent Newcastle disease) surveillance funding, testing and reporting.

Oversaw a major overhaul in 2006 of the UDPHS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and extension of UD LIMS to Maryland Dept. of Agriculture Salisbury Animal Health Lab.

Instituted the first Quality Management System for UDPHS NAHLN activities in 2010-a major and ongoing effort. Oversight for UDPHS personnel and facilities in Newark, (C.C. Allen Laboratory) and

Georgetown (Lasher Lab) and histopathology lab (Townsend Hall). Oversight for the Emergency Poultry Disease Response Certificate Program. Initial USAID and USDA FAS funded programs in Romania and Bulgaria led to the current EPDR program. International and US participants visit Newark campus in summer for four days of intensive lecture and hands-on training.

Oversight for ABC USDA Special Grants Program. Funding used to support undergraduate and graduate student stipends and professional salaries. Suspended due to elimination of federal funding.

Oversight for ABC Grants Program This program provided seed funding for researchers and led to development of publications and larger grant proposals. Suspended due to state line funding cutbacks.

Communicate/collaborate regularly with USDA APHIS, ARS, Delaware state agencies (DNREC, and Delaware Dept. of Agriculture), the poultry industry and various media outlets. Service to the Agribusiness and Scientific Community Advise poultry producers in developing vaccination programs to control infectious diseases. Assist poultry diagnostic laboratories in the isolation and identification of avian viruses and

adoption and use of new technologies. Assist biologics firms in the development and evaluation of live attenuated, inactivated, and

recombinant virus vaccines for poultry. Provide avian virus reference strains, field isolates, and antisera to scientists in the US and other

countries upon request. Provide sequencing service for the identification of field isolates of avian viruses from the US and
