Personal Statement

I graduated University almost 3 years ago with a BA Honours in English Literature with Psychology, gaining an upper 2:2 result. Since university I have been developing my skills within the online/content marketing field. Throughout my experience so far I have developed a specific interest in digital content based work with the absolute passion to carry my skills into a magazine publishing environment.

I am a self- motivated, competent person who has a dedicated and strong work ethic. I work very well as a part of a team, yet I also thrive upon working independently. I am not perturbed to ask for help when necessary, whilst applying my quick learning abilities. Furthermore I am resourceful, creative, optimistic and passionate in joining a creative online magazine publishing company where I can make my roots.

I started off at this job as a web and content co-ordinator and a couple of months in I was offered the chance to launch their new international Australian website single handed, which was, and still is an exciting challenge. This past year I have been growing the site across many aspects, the main focus has been ways to increase traffic, increase google rankings and to grow the websites domain authority. Whilst building a presence out in the Australian market and being vigilant with current events and news from down under.

This role has exposed me to so many online marketing skills, and I am progressively becoming very knowledgeable and experienced in areas such as;

*Website management

*Search engine optimisation (SEO) and writing content with best practise in mind

*Content Marketing

*PR Outreach & Link Building

*Dealing with clients who wish to be featured on site

*PPC

*Tools such as Google Analytics, Google Adwords and Facebook Analytics

*Social Media Management across various platforms, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram

This role is a great opportunity for me as it has helped me develop all the valuable skills that I need throughout the next steps of my career.

Public Relations, Copywriter and Social Media Manager (Freelance)

Exposure Ninja Ltd – December 2014 to September 2015:

Exposure Ninja Ltd is an online marketing business that thrives on helping clients achieve the best results through developing their SEO, Web Design, Social Media, PR and Content Writing. My role included:

* Being responsible for, and the representative of 5 clients, covering topics such as health, beauty, fashion, travel, and home & garden.

* Researching content ideas for the client’s online blog and for the articles that will be published as guest posts on online publications.

* Outreaching and pitching to online newspapers, magazines and content sites, building a solid and consistent relationship with the editors.

* Writing up the content and sharing it over their social media platforms.

* Proof reading and editing colleague’s articles before they get published.

* Social media management for a number of clients; forming and implementing strategies in order to sustain brand awareness, generate traffic and engage new and potential audiences. Exposure has supplied me with training materials where I have learnt a lot about digital/social media marketing, where I am continuing to learn and progress.

At home Magazine, 8th September 2014 to December 2014

At home is a TV celebrity lifestyle magazine, providing advice on travel, kids, health, food, fashion, home & garden, beauty, green & eco or even business. The role included;

* Sourcing, writing and uploading content to both websites using the CMS. A good eye for sourcing appropriate, engaging and relevant content is essential.

* Proofing and subbing copy before it goes live, such as competitions, articles, blogs and how to guides.

* Sourcing appropriate images for the content.

* Liaising with PR teams and arranging engaging editorial as well as regular competitions.

* Carrying out interviews and transcribing them for the websites.

* Dealing with the social media platforms for the magazine in order to drive traffic to the websites, through writing informative and compelling social media content, predominately via twitter and Facebook.

Dissertation - Currently completing an independent dissertation based on Children’s Literature within the Late 18 th Early 19 th Century .

Seminar sessions have also helped me to develop good communication and listening skills when having in depth class discussions. Forward planning was also initiated in order to having a successful development of ideas within groups.

Interests;

*Art and Photography; I have portfolios and have held exhibitions when I was attending college, with my ambition to sell my work online in the near future.

*Reading and blogging: A book is always at hand. I read a broad range of literature, such as fiction and nonfiction, thrillers, romance, historical, crime.

*Travel and exploring is becoming a prominent interest, as I have recently come back from traveling around Europe for a month. My travels are cultural as I follow my love for architecture, art galleries and museums which are used as inspiration for my own art projects. I am proud to have shared some of my travel writing as I have had a few articles published online and in print. I have the desire to continue where I left off with that one day, with keen interest in starting my own travel blog.

*I was a part of the Equestrian team at University, in which I look after and ride horses, as well as the possibility to compete. When I am home from University I have stables near my house, where I am trusted and have the responsibility in looking after their horses.
