After their recent success in their sell out tour in Bristol,

Cardiff, London, Birmingham, Newcastle and Liverpool ‘A Band & A Banjo’ have given us all of the inside info about their tour and what they get up to along the way, they have also given us the lowdown on how they came together, from meeting in a small pub in Kent, to their sell out tour success. “A Band & A Banjo didnt always have three members, at first they were a four part band,” explains the lead singer, “in fact they used to have four members however the fourth member pulled out at the last minute, however the rumour that he is to re-join is not true but he will perform with us at an exclusive gig next year. ‘The Old Barn’ pub is where I used to meet up with some old friends from school; we were all about twenty-three by now, in a full time job, however I was the only one still pursuing my dream of singing. I used to do small gigs in ‘The old Barn’, only a few people used to turn up though and I never made enough money, so I gave it up and started looking for a job too. To my surprise I met by a manager of the record label, ‘Fishing With Monsters’ in the bar one day, he was looking to put together a new, freshband, I asked my friends if they would join me, they said yes, and ‘A band & A Banjo’ were born, It was the kick up the backside we needed.” “We started off in small bars and clubs, as our profile expanded we were performing in some of the more well-known clubs, after a hard struggle we were performing in the major academy’s, and we had our first CD out, ‘An Unknown Journey’. To our delight our music was now on Zane Lows radio show we even had a bBC Radio One Extra Live Lounge appearance. We even had a manager, he would organise everything, we would just have to turn up; we were offered last year a one month tour around the country, we took it as being a wild road trip, well we were all single, we had no commitments, we couldn’t say no."

“Bristol, cardiff, London, Birmingham, Newcastle and Liverpool, were our destinations, the date was 30/09/2012 and our first gig started the next day, only the essentials in my suitcase and our tour bus was kited out with the latest gadgets. We were on the road; our first gig was in London and our manager had already planed an early morning radio chat show interview to promote the London gig, even though the gig was sold out, that was half of the day shortened already, and the gig would be in a few hours, we decided to go shopping, it turned into being more eventful than we expected, we lost Aaron in the shopping precinct and I left my shopping in the café’. We found Aaron and my shopping and the gig was to start in an hour, we couldn’t wait.”

“It wasn’t too long before we had already completed the whole tour, it went so fast, however we still had Liverpool O2 Academy and whilst in the tour bus we used to play, the old classics, ‘onopoly’, ‘Cluedo’ and ‘Connect 4’, obviously not the actual board game, it was all done virtually. Our tour bus was quite cool, I didn’t really want to get off each time we stopped, it had built in ‘I-pads’ on the tables, a surround sound system, Built in Wi-Fi access points, it was a nerds.

Women Talking Foolishly 9/10

The W.T.F’s new CD, ‘Killing Monsters’, topped the Current Music Magazine charts this month. Their music style is very much like ‘The Ticking Clock’s’ style, an urban, Dub Step feel, but, using classical instruments, like the clarinet. It is a very intersting collaboration that defiess all of the laws of music, we rate it 9/10, however, it is rated 8.5/10 online, although the charts tell the story, have your say at www.current.co.uk, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Dancing With Hero’s 9.5/10

Their new single ‘Eating Superman’ has blown us away; it follows several different genres, in one Jazz, Classical, Rock, Pop and Dub Step. We feel here at current magazine they are following in the footsteps of Queen, their collaborations have an edgy feel, but it really works. We give it 9.5/10 and it really deserves it, for their achievements they have earned the Current Magazine Bronze award, Current Magazines ‘Favourites’cann be seen at www.current.co.uk/favourites.

Not Human 7/10

Even though Not Human Have earned the ‘Chip off the Block’ award we feel their new single ‘Fishing In The City’ was really bad. It was a new style for them that didn’t work; they said “we wanted to go in a new direction” explains lead member, Jon. However they said that they are starting their new CD soon, you can read the full article on page 18, or go to the websites www.current.co.uk/articles/nothuman.
