Current Middle and Junior High School Attendance Boundariesfor 2017-2018 School Year
DZG-95887(M2)
Your opportunity to be heard!
The Clark County School District's Board of School Trustees understands attendance boundary changes can be difficult for families and communities. To ensure their concerns are heard, the Board established the Attendance Zone Advisory Commission (AZAC). The members of AZAC are volunteers, parents, and concerned citizens appointed by the Board of School Trustees and the Superintendent of Schools to represent their individual districts. AZAC members review attendance boundaries each year and recommend changes to the Board of School Trustees.
Your input is a valuable part of this process. At public input meetings, proposals are presented which AZAC is considering for attendance boundaries in your area. They, along with school district staff, will be on hand to hear and consider your comments and suggestions. AZAC then formulates a final attendance boundary recommendation which will be forwarded to the Board of School Trustees for their approval on February 21, 2018 at pm. This recommendation 5:30could be any variation of the proposals presented in this flyer, including no change to the current boundary.
If you wish to share your opinion, but are unable to attend the public input meeting, please mail your comments to AZAC, 1180 Military Tr i b u t e P l a c e , H e n d e r s o n , N V 8 9 0 7 4 , E m a i l u s a t [email protected] or visit our web-site: http://azac.ccsd.net. To speak with an individual AZAC member, please leave a message on the AZAC Hotline at 702-799-0239. Your AZAC member will return your call.

Please note, as of the 2018-2019 school year, Thurman White Middle School will expand to a full dedicated magnet program, Academy of the Performing Arts and as a result of the new magnet program implementation it is necessary to reassign incoming 6th grade students starting the 2018-2019 school year. Beginning with the incoming 6th grade students for the 2018-2019 school year, students must apply for, and be accepted into, the Thurman White Middle School Academy of the Performing Arts. All 6th and 7th grade students assigned to and enrolled Thurman White Middle School for the 2017-2018 school year, will be allowed to continue at Thurman White Middle School Academy of the Performing Arts for the duration of their middle school career.
The Thurman White Middle School attendance boundary will be dissolved in phases, dissolving one grade level per year, beginning with the 6th grade in the 2018-2019 school year, and will continue until all grades, 6-8, have been reassigned.
Phasing Program
This attendance boundary change will occur in phases, by reassigning one grade level each year until all grades, 6-8, have been reassigned. Beginning with the 6th grade phasing will be implemented at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. An option for older siblings to attend at their younger siblings' designated school is provided, with transportation, if eligible as indicated in Policy and Regulation 3531. Future annual assessments of the area demographics will be conducted and may result in canceling program by implementing the entire attendance boundary adjustment, as approved, at once.
