Pregnancy/Birth to 24 Months Project(P/B-24)
Goal• To begin examining topics of public health importance for women who are
pregnant and infants and toddlers from birth to 24 months of age.The work• The current work includes conducting a small number of systematic reviews on
diet and health for infants, toddlers, and women who are pregnant.– Human milk and infant formula feeding– Introduction of foods– Complementary feeding– Dietary patterns during pregnancy
• Reviews will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and made publicly available on our website later this year.
• This project will not include dietary recommendations or advice.

DIETARY GUIDELINES FOR AMERICANS• Food-based recommendations released jointly by USDA and
HHS every five years.• Promotion of 2015-2020 edition continues.• New factors to consider as we look ahead to the 2020-
2025 edition:– Recommendations from Health and Medicine Division study – Agricultural Act of 2014
• Process for developing the 2020-2025 edition kicked off in November 2017 with a series of listening sessions. – Comments and transcripts available at:
