The monetary policy committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the second consecutive time cut the benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points to 6% on April 4.

Shastikanta Das is a Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), announced to cut the repo rate by 0.25 percent in the first bi-monthly monetary review of FY 2019-20.

Repo rate is Repo rate is the rate at which the central bank of a country (Reserve Bank of India in case of India) lends money to commercial banks in the event of any shortfall of funds. Reduced repo rate means that loans from banks, home loans, vehicle loans, etc will be cheap.The next meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will be held on 3, 4 and 6 June.
