Chapter 1:22 “Meaningless! Meaningless!”
says the Teacher.“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.”
is a humanly incurable disease that ultimately leads to death
8 All things are wearisome, more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.
9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be
done again;there is nothing new under
the sun.
10 Is there anything of which one can say,
“Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago;it was here before our time.
John 4:27-38
John 4:27-3827 Just then his disciples
returned and were surprised to find him
talking with a woman.
John 4:27-38But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why
are you talking with her?”
John 4:27-3828 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back
to the town and said to the people,
John 4:27-3829 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever
did. Could this be the Christ?”
John 4:27-3830 They came out of the
town and made their way toward him.
John 4:27-3831 Meanwhile his disciples
urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
John 4:27-3832 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you
know nothing about.”
Like drug addicts, Christians are always obsessed with finding the next “high”.
John 4:27-3833 Then his disciples said
to each other, “Could someone have brought
him food?”
John 4:27-3834 “My food,” said
Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to
finish his work.
John 4:27-3835 Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then
the harvest’?
John 4:27-38I tell you, open your eyes
and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
John 4:27-3836 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even
now he harvests the crop for eternal life,
John 4:27-38so that the sower and the
reaper may be glad together.
John 4:27-3837 Thus the saying ‘One
sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to
reap what you have not worked for.
John 4:27-38Others have done the
hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of
their labor.”
