Brief review of thermal water exploitation in Marghita

The early 60s brought some good news to our town- geothermal water.

The analysis were made at the International Research Institute for geothermal water in Pisa (Italy) and they were made to determine the average content of groundwater. The results highlighted the quality of these waters, which at that time were compared with those of other famous resorts

These waters are mainly rich in bicarbonate, sodium and potassium , with a tendency to shift toward chlorines and other microelements such as Ca, Mg, Zn, etc.

The above mentioned discovery initially led to the building of a swimming-pool but soon the water was used for therapeutic purposes. This is the reason why during the early 70s a special department for curative purposes was established and then developed within the hospital.

Initially the treatment was related to the thermal swimming-pool, but for administrative reasons in 2000, new establishments for the same purposes were built in the area. This project bacame a dream come true in 2010 when the new unit destined for rehabilitation and medical treatment within „Dr. Pop Mircea” Hospital in Marghita was inaugurated .
