The Carnival season is gone and one can already

feel the ‘Kuaresma’ (Lent) winds picking up.

From February 28th to April 30th is the Curaçao

International Kite Festival.

Curaçao’s colorful kite season features workshops

and small kite-flying competitions and culminates

with the Curaçao’s International Kite Festival. See

jumbo kites filling the sky and skillful demonstra-

Also not to miss out this month is the 46th

International Release Blue Marlin Tournament.

This will take place from March 30th to April

1st. Each year about 40 yachts participate in

this event which attracts more than 150 fisher-

men from Venezuela, USA, Aruba, Bonaire and

Curaçao. Curaçao’s International Release Blue

Marlin Tournament involves both individual and

team competitions and is geared towards the

conservation of the species. All billfish weighing

less than 30lb are returned to the sea. First prize

is a grand US$12,000. Registration fee is US$250
