A sail-by around the iconic Statue of Liberty and a celebratory Gala Dinner on board were among the many festivities commemorating the milestone. View press release here. Queen Mary 2 Mid-Atlantic Mercy Mission QUEEN MARY 2 lent a helping hand to celebrated Canadian rower Mylène Paquette in September during a seven-night Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing. The ship responded to a request for aid after Paquette, who was aiming to be the first North American woman to row solo across the Atlantic, was hit by the remnants of Storm Humberto and lost her anchor, satellite phone and other supplies. In response, Queen Mary 2 donated a new satellite phone, two drogue anchors, food and supplies. Thanks to Cunard, Paquette successfully completed her historic journey on 12 November. Cunard Line Honoured with Distinguished Service Award Cunard Line made history in October at the National Maritime Historical Society’s 50 th Anniversary Gala Awards Dinner in New York when it became the first company ever to receive the Society’s “Distinguished Service Award” for its outstanding contributions and efforts to promote maritime heritage.
