Culture!

AIESEC GUC Is currently number 3 globally; we were awarded "the most innovative LC”, the fastest growing LC in the region" & " the LC of the year across the past 3 years.

Cultural Issue “culture vibes” Project Vision: “Our vision is to provide an opportunity to every youth to act in favor of the society and to inculcate a sense of responsibility.” The base of this project is synergy, unity and coordination. We intend to unite the NGOs, the Culture & Arts sector and the youth and develop a synergy between them.

Our Belief: “To establish a real awareness of the existence and plan the present and future life effectively, man should have enough knowledge of his homeland's history as well as identity and cultural heritage..” Project duration: Minimum duration of 6 weeks.

Maximum duration of 3 months for each intern. (Due to the

nature of interns being students) The organization can ask for an all-year project which is that AIESEC GUC would provide the organization with several interns all year but according to the minimum and maximum durations.

Number of interns: According to organization convenience.

Projects Objectives are:

1. Total understanding of the different cultural prospects in the

Egyptian Society. 2. Promote and Spread Egyptian culture Nationally and Globally. 3. Through cultural values the community get its identity so our main

aim is to showcase our valuable Egyptian culture (Arts, History, Traditions, Languages, Music ...etc.) in order to maintain our identity.

4. Increase the awareness of Multi culturism through melting the

cultural gap between difference nations. AIESEC GUC | DEVELOP, CHANGE and GROW

5. Increase the social responsibility while empowering the Egyptian culture through improving the organizational structure and operations of the partners who we will deal with.

6. Emphasize the importance of arts to the day to day life .

kind of cultural and artistic events.

Why working in a cultural project? 1. Influence by the fascinating Egyptian Arts. 2. Understanding the mystery of the Egyptian

culture and dealing with the Egyptian society. 3. Influencing the society while improving the

Job Description There are different job descriptions for the Cultural projects as our projects tries to tackle the different needs of each NGO. But there is a common aim or common purpose which is promotion and helping in the basic processes for the NGO. Promotion can be either by social media, advertising campaigns, providing workshops , writing articles or designing ads. Some of the basic processes is helping the NGO in archiving or managing their website or blog. Being

interested in culture, sharing the intern’s culture is a main aspect in our project, since our project is

mainly a project that immerses the intern in Egyptian culture, there will be a space

of sharing his culture too. Almost all of the organizations in Egypt have Friday off some of

them have Saturday or Sunday also.

What should be done by the

EP?

1. Preparations sessions will be provided to the intern (Photography, movie making, documenting ,writing reports,

writing reviews on the internet, Social Activism). 2. Organizing events and Ushering

3. Research and documentation (Weekly report including

videos/book/testimonials/blogs /pictures/interviews etc.) of their work + a whole report about his internship.

4. Showcasing and advertising.

5. Field work and field visits.

6. Journalism and Photojournalism.

8. Office work, Administrating and archiving.

9. Marketing and Exposure.

10. Cultural sessions.

11. Planning, promoting and conducting Artistic Events.

12. Participate of all the activities planned by the LC and the

NGOs during internship. Also be prepared to present your country during Global Village.

13. Present creative and dynamic workshops using different types

of Arts in the culture and arts foundations.

1. El Sawy Cultural Wheel:

El Sawy Culture Wheel is a comprehensive cultural center laying on a 5,000 m2 area right under

the 15th of May bridge on Zamalek island.Facts: El Sawy Culture wheel operates all year round, seven days a week from 8 am till the last show ends, offering two to four events a day. It provides culture and art at affordable prices. On an average day about 1500 people visit us, on special days the number many exceed 2000. This results in nearly 500000

visitors a year. In 2009, El Sawy Culture wheel is organizing 25 festivals and contests.

2. El Mastaba Center for Folk Music :

Egypt is a diverse and rich country in every sense and its traditional musical heritage is no

exception. Each of the regions, and ethnic groups that comprise the geographic areas and people of Egypt have their distinct music. This music has always been a part of the Egyptian identity and it reflects the history, the socioeconomic transformations and

collective memory of this nation. El Mastaba seeks to mitigate the threat of extinction facing traditional music by creating an appreciation and awareness of its value to communities and to cultural identities that is expressed in market value, encouraging younger generations to see this as an economically viable profession. What is unique about

this idea is that it sees local communities as the means to achieve change. El Mastaba Centre for Egyptian Folk Music was founded in Cairo in 2000 by Zakaria Ibrahim,with

the aims to preserve, archive, document and develop this music. Link to Organization :

4. Saad Zaghloul Cultural Center:

Saad Zaghloul Museum in Downtown Cairo is a great option for a museum; as it gives insight into the life of

one of Egypt’s most iconic political leaders. He became a national spokesman for self-rule held the post of

prime minister for a time. Zaghloul was highly respected even by the foreign governors he opposed.

The museum is located in the former hous of Saad Zaghloul and his wife Safeya. The house is also known as

‘Beit El Umma’ or house of the nation.

6. Alrab3 (الربع - El Rab3) Alrab3 is mainly focusing on cultural development, and the purpose of its establishment is offering media production services, development of skills as well as organizing exhibitions and festivals.
