Culture Night 2019 Returning on Friday 20 September 2019, Culture Night is a UK and Ireland-wide initiative where local arts and cultural organisations, venues and public spaces open their doors to the public to host FREE entertainment, as part of a celebration of arts, heritage and culture.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are hosting a number of groups right across the district in this year’s Culture Night celebrations which are packed full of music, dance, song, art, craft & language events so you have no excuse not to wrap up in culture!

Singing in Irish8pm

Ceoltóirí na hÓmaí (singing in Irish group) meet weekly in Strule Arts Centre to sing popular traditional songs in Irish with musical accompaniment.

Culture Night in Dún Uladh6pm - 9pm

From 6pm we will have Irish Language Events for kids. This will be followed by a County Youth Session in our Teach Ceoil at 7.30pm. We encourage all to attend this exciting night of cultural and creative events!

Enniskillen BID with Big Telly will host a special event on Culture Night to share ideas on their development of an Enniskillen based theatre game. A mini performance will be delivered with feedback and encouragement from participants welcomed.

In addition Across the Lines (The Glens Centre Manorhamilton) present I AM FROM; a multi-media exhibition bringing together creative outputs of two cross border and cross border projects.

Fermanagh Folktales8pm

Authors Carlo Gébler and Seamas Mac Annaidh will be reading a selection of stories from their upcoming Fermanagh Folktales publication; a collection of folklore from the county. These stories are from and for adults; they are not children’s stories and are definitely not for the faint hearted!

Florence Creighton will demonstrate basic crochet stitches beside her display of crochet items made by a diverse group of women who meet weekly in Lisnaskea Library.

Celebrating Ulster-Scots Melody Music8pm

An indoor concert celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the Omagh Protestant Boys Flute Band, the only melody flute band in the district. Complete with replica Royal Marine uniforms this Ulster-Scots marching band will delight the audience with their melody music and a special drum display by their talented drum corps. Compere and conductor will be Mr Willie Hill. Free refreshments will be available to all those in attendance.

Artsland International Artist in ResidencePerformance: 7pmWorkshop: 7.30pm

Randel McGee is an internationally recognised storyteller and puppet performer from California, USA. He will be sharing some favourite stories that the whole family will enjoy, combining lively storytelling with amazing designs cut from paper while the tales unfold. Stories will also be shared using simple shadow puppetry based on the Chinese tradition.
