We Asked the Staff...WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING AT DOSOMETHING.ORG?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DOSOMETHING.ORG MOMENT THUS FAR?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CAMPAIGN AND WHY?
WHERE DID YOU GO FOR YOUR SABBATICAL?
I get to take on projects that someone my age would never be allowed to do.
I really like Pineapple Pushups. I wish we could do it for racism AND sexism.
The day we launched Gladiator, which allows thousands of members to be in a competition.
I went to Barcelona in 2015.
DoSomething constantly balances optimizing for max org impact combined
with employee happiness.
I am so excited for Power to the Period and it’s just begun!
I went to Madrid on my last one, next stop is Tokyo.
I love working at DoSomething because of how passionate and smart
everyone is here.
Yo Teach! I used to be a teacher, and it would have been awesome
to have my kids rap to me!
Staff retreat! I’ve embarrassingly been on 3 sabbaticals: Costa Rica, Laos & Colombia.
They were all amazing.
I am not marketing a product, but rather a lifestyle and pathway to personal
transformation.
Give a Spit. We’ve LITERALLY saved lives through that campaign.
I went to Japan to write textbooks and teach dance.

OUR INTERNS ARE (LITERALLY) PROS
3
We LOVE our interns. (And we pay them too!) They represent so many different experiences, identities, and strengths, which is one of our favorite things about them. They’re not here to file papers and go on coffee runs. They’re here to tackle organizational priorities, learn a ton, become best friends, and dominate other orgs in kickball. Meet our summer class: great interns, amazing kickball players.

when the office is hot.
I didn’t know prior to starting the summer internship that I would come to love being
a part of the finance team.
The importance of being accepting of yourself, your abilities, and potential.
DoSomething was an opportunity where I could make actual impact coming out of my
freshman year of college.
The Kitchen - everyone eats lunch together and you can usually
find free food!
I’ve been most surprised by how fast-paced everything in the office is.
I applied here because I wanted an internship that mattered. I haven’t
been disappointed!

OUR CAMPAIGNS ARE CHANGING THE WORLD
4
Our 5.5 million members tackle campaigns that impact causes ranging from homelessness to the environment. DoSomething campaigns are fun and easy ways for young people to serve their communities in a way that doesn’t require money, a car, or help from a parent or teacher. Here are a few of our greatest hits!
Some of Our Greatest Hits
DoSomething members collected over 800,000 pairs of jeans, enough to clothe half of all homeless youth in the US.
Since 2010, members have shared over 343,000 pairs of Thumb Socks to remind their friends not to text and drive.
Members helped 11,753 older adults learn to text, email, video chat, and use social media.
TEENS FOR JEANS
THUMB WARS
GRANDPARENTS GONE WIREDMembers have donated 46,207 pieces of sports equipment, making Game-Winning Drive the largest sports gear campaign in the world. Score!
GAME-WINNING DRIVE

OMG SABBATICAL!
6
After working at DoSomething.org for two years, staff members are granted a four-week (paid!) sabbatical to volunteer anywhere in the world. Staffers give to communities in need, enjoy life-changing experiences, and return with inspiration and knowledge to improve the org.
Where Did You Go?
I worked on an organic farm called Sailing Winward Farm. 90% of Hawaii’s food is
imported and they need more organic farms to help Hawaii conserve native agricultural land
and become food secure.
I conducted research for the Magical Light Foundation in order to inform future projects to provide sanitary napkins to those who do not
have access in Bangladesh and taught English at the Koung Jor refugee camp located at the Thai/
Myanmar border.
I taught vulnerable youth in the Langa Township how to write code for an
organization called Brothers For All.
I helped Inspira-t with communications strategy and funding applications, I created a pitch deck for The
Calala Fund for Women to use to pitch corporate partners.
While volunteering with the Andela organization, I mentored
approximately 30 web developers in training, set up and configured new
networking equipment.
I spent my sabbatical in July volunteering for the Hillary for America campaign. I assisted them in
their text messaging program. Big highlights were sending text updates during the RNC and DNC conventions, as well as sending out the first to
know text about Hillary’s VP pick, Sen. Tim Kaine.

WE WORKHARD AND PLAYHARDER
7
We tackle serious issues, but we don’t always have to be serious doing it. With parties, bake-offs, and bday celebrations we’re always having a good time -- and always eating.
KickballOur summers are packed with all sorts of awesome, out-of-office events. One of our favorite summer events is our weekly kickball game against other NYC orgs we love. Win or lose, it’s always a great time. But mostly when we win.
BAKE-OFFS
PARTY VIBES BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
SPIRIT DAYSSummer bake-offs bring out the best in staff’s culinary skills. Also sometimes, the weirdest. One week’s theme: Shark Week!
Every summer Friday, the interns designate a new Spirit Day theme. Whether it’s twinning, 80s, school pride, or #PladIsRad, we’re showing up and showing out.
Every month, we celebrate staffers’ birthdays with singing, inside-joke-filled cards, and... you guessed it... FOOOOD.
Whether we’re celebrating the winter holidays, Pride, or a big org accomplishment, it’s going down. And yes, there will be food.
TMI is a strategic consultancy that helps clients drive social change through insights and creative solutions backed by data from millions of young people.
In a world of Too Much Information, we say bring it on. Because in that pile of gifs, memes, and tweets, there are brilliant insights waiting to be put into action.
Fueled by DoSomething.org’s proprietary data from millions of young people involved in hundreds of cause initiatives, we uncover what motivates young people to connect with companies and causes they care about.
Since 2013, TMI has earned profits of more than $2.5 million – and 100% of them support DoSomething.org’s bottom line.
TMI STRATEGY GIVE A SH*T.

Some Marketing Partners
The leading online scholarship resource supports our campaigns and helps members use social change to pay for school.
DoSomething members use WHI to connect the things they love to the causes they care about.
High schoolers use the popular app to connect with friends and find new ways to engage with social action through DoSomething campaigns.
Some Corporate Partners
Through our Science Sleuth campaign with 3M, members used their STEM skills to unlock donations to classrooms in need.
We joined forces to help over 73,000 members avoid summer slide by playing the Context Clues game. Players used their reading skills to solve a mystery and unlock real donations to their communities!

We teamed up on the FIRST EVER national period product drive to donate period products to local homeless shelters and help people experiencing homelessness maintain menstrual hygiene and reinvigorate their sense of dignity!
Powered by SunTrust’s onUp Movement, our Spend Your Cheddar Better campaign gave the next generation a strong foundation of financial literacy and confidence.
Our three partnerships have tackled smoking from three different and impactful angles: thirdhand smoke (Four-Legged Finishers), tobacco sales (Take Back the Shelves), and cigarette butt litter (GTFO: Get the Filter Out).
DoSomething has partnered with ESPN on Shred Hate, an anti-bullying campaign, and Game-Winning Drive, the largest sports equipment drive ever.
Our favorite airline has a long history of powering DoSomething campaigns, most recently with Innovation Inspiration, which jump-started the next generation of female scientists.
Grandparents Gone Wired, Senior Story Swap, and other AARP-powered campaign have mobilized members to #DisruptAging and keep seniors connected.
CVS Health and DoSomething teamed up for the Quitters Always Win anti-smoking campaign and Explain the Pain Text, a guide to help members protect their friends from prescription pain med abuse.
