Memorial is a member of a consortium of Canadian universities offering students the opportunity to spend a full academic year in Nice in the South of France. This program offers an exceptionnal opportunity to enjoy a year of immersion and study in France and to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of French culture and civilization. Memorial students meet other students from other Canadian universities, currently, the Universities of Western Ontario, Guelph and Windsor. ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAM: Applicants must have completed French 2101 before the beginning of the Fall semester when they would leave for France. Completion of other 2nd year French courses before the beginning of the Fall semester, especially French 2601 and 2602, will strengthen an application. WHAT YOU WILL STUDY:

Students participating in this program

complete a total of 10 courses.

 

Four of these are taught by a faculty

member of one of the Canadian

universities involved in the program (one

course each semester being a French

language course, the other a course in an

area of expertise of the instructor).

 

The remaining three courses each

semester are chosen by the students

from those offered at the Université de

Nice.

ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM, STUDENTS ARE AWARDED

12 credit hours for specific Memorial

courses (FREN 3102, 3103, 3507 and

3508);

 may be awarded up to 18 unspecified

or specified credit hours at the 3000

level for courses offered by the

Université de Nice upon application

to the Department Head.

WHERE YOU WILL STUDY:

Students will study at the Carlone

campus which houses the Faculty of Arts

and Humanites of the Université de Nice

Sophia- Antipolis.

* Please ask the Department Head for

permission if you are registered in the

Honours’ program, and want to take a

4000 level course
