Following our inquiry and sharing of new knowledge, we have developed our shared understanding of how New
Zealands unique culture, values and beliefs, shape who we are:We are brought up in our unique culture which supports us to challenge ourselves and encourages us tostick to things until we are the best we can be. Every child dreams of becoming a representative of ourcountry.
We dont give up and we believe in ourselves- because we have been brought up to believe this and wehave really good role models in NZ who model this to us. We have a can-do and problem-solvingattitude. We are not so much about money and possessions but are more about the people. We careabout the people around this. We are very proud of our country and our people. We are very friendly and

Inspires and represents NZ and New Zealanders; native
and it gives a symbol of light (leaves silver underneath &
dark green on top); worn on clothing. Flag: Four stars = our place in the Pacific Ocean; the
blue = the blue sky and sea around us. It represents our
country in the world. Union flag = our historical
foundations with Britain. Coat of Arms: Southern Cross = our place in the South
Pacific Ocean; Three ships = NZs sea trade; sheep =
farming; wheat =agriculture & industry; crossed hammers
= mining; Maori chieftain & European woman = our people;
crown = Majesty, Queen of NZ
Haka: Maori heritage; unique and national expression;traditional & respectful ritual; song & dance (forceful
actions); used to challenge, welcome and honour; shows
