Bearclaw in the freezerI heard that hotel owners in China, Shanghai keep a real bearclaw hidden in the freezer. This so the owner of the hotel can give the claw as a gift to an important guest. This because the bearclaw stands for power and respect, and it is the most precious gift you can give to someone else.

M What to wear? Some colors have different meanings for Hokkien. The most familiar one is red which symbolizes prosperity/luck. This is important to remember when publishing or designing products. Black is a big taboo color because it is connected to funerals and bad luck. Try to avoid wearing black especially completely black outfits during celebration days like Chinese New Year, Birthdays and Weddings.

M Rude to touchIt is not appropriate to touch Hokkiens on their shoulder, also don’t touch them in any other way. This strongly applies to all Chinese in general, it is a big offense to tap/touch someone on the shoulder. It is said that by touch/tapping someone’s shoulder, you would put out one of three holy flames inside the person’s body. This will cause a lot of bad luck to that particular person.

Main goal of this platformTo get a cultural heritage that has unique information,is structured and mapped thanks to the users who generated the content themselves.
And achieve the 2 main question points when I started this project • How to let people post on this platform? • Let people see each others culture through each others eyes?
Primary goal of this projectMake people post their manners on this platform

Promoting this platformWhere to promote it?
• Social media! Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin • Airports, where people from all over the world hang out • Embassy’s of China and Holland (for now) • Cultural events • Travelling agencies • Business meetings or conferences • Online groups and communities
By promoting the platform on these places people from several social layers arecontacted. This so a wide variety of people will visit the platform.

Promotion how?Dig into social media and its strength Creating profiles and interact with people online to draw theme to the platform. React on their questions and manner related posts on Twitter and Facebook. But also by making a Linkedin group so business people are more easy to connect. The social media will be: Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin
A campaign By creating a campaign where I want to provoke people with Dutch and Chinese cultural background I hope to pursue theme to set things straight and come to visit the platform. The idea is to show a manner, or to mention something about a culture which is absolutely not true. In this way I want to give people the feeling that they have to set things straight or correct this issue about their culture. By showing the link to the platform people will get the chance to react on the manner at the platform and share their true story and vision. When they visit the website they will see more manners and questions and I hope this will trigger theme to keep visit this platform. This campaign can be promoted at the following places:
• Airports: • Embassy’s of China and Holland (for now) • Cultural events • Travelling agencies • Business meetings or conferences • Online groups and communities
