DIVERSITYConceptually, diversity may either be

understood as variety, in which all people are regarded as unique individuals, or as

difference, in which specific groups of people (e.g., non-whites and women), are regarded as being different with respect to

a dominant group (e.g., white men).

culture in a specific region,or in the world as a whole.

As well as more obvious cultural differences that exist between people, there are significant variations in the societies organise themselves.

Societies are increasingly diverse or are increasingly capable of admitting the

diversity which has always existed within their national boarders

varied, plural and dynamic identities

Cont……Culture takes diverse forms across time and space. This diversity is embodied in the uniqueness and

plurality of the identities of the groups and societies making up humankind.

As a source of exchange, innovation and creativity, cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as

biodiversity is for nature.In this sense, it is the common heritage of

humanity and should be recognized and affirmed for the benefit of present and future generations.
