One of the biggest problems faced by the Pakistaniyouth.

There is a need to identify our original culture so as toclose the gap between conflict produced by the various

    cultures.

A state of dissonance prevails. Example, Valentines day.

Nowadays, with the changing trends in fashion andlifestyle, youngsters have become too influenced bymedia and their surroundings that their interests havediverted elsewhere.

For example, they are more enthusiastic about functionslike Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Halloween, and New Year.

These celebrations are not forbidden in Islam, but clearlythey denote the priorities we have set for ourselves.

Analysis and DiscussionWe have inherited a culture of some great people but atsome points fail to learn what they had set out to do.

    We have allowed two extremes to develop in oursurroundings;

1 st extreme is the people with extremist Islamic views 2 nd extreme comprises those who have shunned

Islamic values and adopted a culture well suited to theirneeds and requirements.

Individual belief systems seem to be disrupted and it will take time sincechange is rarely immediate.

A quote by Hazrat Ali (A.S) explains the plight of our nation when he saysthat:a society can survive with kufr but not if injustice is present. This word,Injustice, has done uncountable destruction in our society; it has widenedthe distance between classes and this has been the root cause of discord.

The distance between the classes leads to a further distortion of culturalvalues that the people of a society hold.

A great deal of power to the media has also been the root to this culturalconfusion in young minds.

A difference in the educational systems is also a reason.

    Conclusion & Recommendations

The culture we live in today incites us to be curious about gossip, fiery politics and other spicy news instead of seeking knowledge.

Anyone who attempts to pursue knowledge is actually ostracized bythe rest of his group and often is left with a choice i.e. to follow hisinterest or crawl back.

Hence, awareness becomes extremely important at the very basiclevels initially so that it becomes part of their everyday lives.

Children should be taught about the basic morals and ethics and

most importantly they should be practiced by the households theygrow up in and the institutions they attend.

To learn and from time to time to applywhat one has learned, isn't that a

pleasure? ... Learning without thought islabor lost; thought without learning is

    perilous.
