cause a crash. You or otherscould be injured or killed. Do notgive extended attention toinfotainment tasks while driving.Limit your glances at the vehicledisplays and focus your attentionon driving. Use voice commandswhenever possible.

The infotainment system has built-infeatures intended to help avoiddistraction by disabling somefunctions when driving. Thesefunctions may gray out when theyare unavailable. Many infotainmentfeatures are also available throughthe instrument cluster and steeringwheel controls.

Before driving:

. Become familiar with theoperation, faceplate buttons, andscreen buttons.

. Set up the audio by presettingfavorite stations, setting thetone, and adjusting thespeakers.

. Set up phone numbers inadvance so they can be calledeasily by pressing a singlebutton or by using a single voicecommand if equipped withBluetooth phone capability.

Infotainment System

The infotainment system iscontrolled by using the touchscreen,the buttons below the touchscreen,steering wheel controls, and voicerecognition.

Power (On/Off/Mute)

. When off, press O (1) to turnthe system on. Press and hold toturn off.

. When on, press O to mute the

system. Press O again tounmute the system.

Retained Accessory Power (RAP)

The vehicle has RAP. When in RAPthe audio system can be playedeven after the ignition is turned off.See “Retained Accessory Power(RAP)” in the owner manual.

Volume

The black area above the chromebar (2) is used to increase ordecrease the volume. There arethree ways to adjust the volume:

. Slide a finger.

. Press.

. Press and hold.

Rear Seat Armrest ControlPanel (If Equipped)

There is a control panel in thecenter of the rear seatback. See“Armrest Storage” in the ownermanual.

1. O (Power): Press to turn thepower on or off for the sourcedaudio or media playback andsunshade control button (ifequipped).

2. S VOL T (Volume): Press theleft or right arrow to adjust thevolume of current playback.

3. Q (Sunshade Switch): Pressand release the switch tocontrol the rear windowsunshade.

4. PRESET: Press to go to asaved favorite.

5. S SEEK T: Press the left orright arrow to go to theprevious or next station on theradio or track on a mediasource.

6. SRCE (Source): Press tochange the source of playback.

Home Page

The Home Page is whereapplication icons are accessed.Some features are disabled whenthe vehicle is moving.

The Home Page can be set up tohave up to five pages with eighticons per page.

Touchu orv, or slide a finger left/right across the screen to accessthe pages of icons.

v (Next) : Touch to go to the nextHome Page.

u (Previous) : Touch to go to theprevious Home Page.

k (Interaction Selector) : Touch todisplay the favorites list.

Touch and hold a location within thefavorites area to begin the processof saving a favorite application.

Touch the application icon to storeas a favorite, and the name of theapplication will be shown infavorites.

Home : Press to go back to theHome Page to start a differentapplication.

Managing Home Page Icons

1. Touch and hold any of theHome Page icons to editthat icon.

2. Drag the icon to a new locationon the Home Page or to save itto the applications tray.

Steering Wheel ControlsThe infotainment steering wheelcontrols can be used to control theinfotainment features displayed inthe instrument cluster.

When in Valet Mode (if equipped),access to the infotainment functionsis disabled. See Settings 0 101.

i (End Call) : Press to decline anincoming call, or end a current call.Press to mute or unmute theinfotainment system when not ona call.

SEL : Press to select a highlightedmenu item.

C orB (Next or PreviousFavorite) : Press to go to the nextor previous favorite when listeningto the radio. Press to go to the nextor previous track when listening to amedia source.

x + or x − (Volume) : Press toincrease or decrease the volume.

Touch the AUDIO icon to display theactive audio source page. Availablesources are AM, FM, XM, CD (ifequipped), My Media, USB, SD,Bluetooth, and AUX Input.

Energy (If Equipped)

Applications Tray

The applications tray is at the topcenter of the screen. Theapplications tray can have three tofive applications.

To add an application from theHome Page to the applications tray:

1. Touch and hold any icon on theHome Page to enter edit mode.

2. Drag the icon to theapplications tray.

To remove an item from theapplications tray, drag the iconfrom the applications tray backto the Home Page.

Adding or removing applicationsfrom the applications tray will notremove them from the Home Page.

Touchscreen Buttons

Touchscreen buttons show on thescreen when available. When afunction is unavailable, the buttonmay gray out. When a function isselected, the button may highlight.

Proximity Sensing

The infotainment system usesproximity sensing. When enabled,certain screen buttons and featureswill become visible when a handapproaches the screen. When thehand is removed, these featuresfade. Proximity sensing can bedisabled in the Settings applicationsin the Display menu options.

Haptic Feedback

Haptic feedback is a pulse thatoccurs when a button is touched onthe screen or when buttons belowthe screen are pressed.

Infotainment Gestures

Use the following finger gestures tocontrol the infotainment system.

Touch/Tap

Touch/Tap is used to select a buttonor option, activate an application,or change the location inside a map.

Touch and Hold

Touch and hold can be used to startanother gesture, or to move ordelete an application.

Drag

Drag is used to move applicationson the Home Page, or to pan themap. To drag the item, it must beheld and moved along the screen tothe new location. This can be doneup, down, right, or left.

Nudge

Nudge is used to move items ashort distance on a list or a map. Tonudge, hold and move the selecteditem up or down to a new location.

Fling or Swipe

Fling or swipe is used to scrollthrough a list, pan the map,or change page views. Do this byplacing a finger on the screen thenmoving it rapidly up and down orright and left.

Spread

Spread is used to zoom in on amap, certain images, or a webpage. Place finger and thumbtogether on the screen, then movethem apart.

Pinch

Pinch is used to zoom out on amap, certain images, or a webpage. Place finger and thumb aparton the screen, then move themtogether.

Cleaning High Gloss Surfacesand Vehicle Information andRadio Displays

For vehicles with high glosssurfaces or vehicle displays, use amicrofiber cloth to wipe surfaces.

Before wiping the surface with themicrofiber cloth, use a soft bristlebrush to remove dirt that couldscratch the surface. Then use themicrofiber cloth by gently rubbing toclean. Never use window cleanersor solvents. Periodically hand washthe microfiber cloth separately,using mild soap. Do not use bleachor fabric softener. Rinse thoroughlyand air dry before next use.

AM-FM Radio

Playing the Radio

While on the audio main page theavailable sources are: AM, FM, XM(if equipped), CD (if equipped), MyMedia, USB, SD, Bluetooth, andAUX Input.

. Touch the RADIO screen buttonto scroll through AM, FM,or SiriusXM® (if equipped).

. Touch the MEDIA screen buttonto scroll through CD (ifequipped), My Media, USB, SD,Bluetooth, and AUX Input.

Infotainment System Settings

Touch the RADIO screen button toaccess broadcast sources.

Touch the MENU screen button todisplay the following menus:

Tone Settings:

. Bass, Midrange, and Treble:Touch + or − to adjust.

. Surround Control:

If equipped, press + or − toadjust the volume of the seatspeakers.

. Balance: Touch S or T for moresound from the left or rightspeakers. The middle positionbalances the sound between theleft and right speakers.

. Fade: Touchy orz for moresound from the front or rearspeakers. The middle positionbalances the sound between thefront and rear speakers.

EQ (Equalizer) Settings : Theavailable choices are Customor Talk.

DSP Modes (If Equipped):

. Bose® Studio Surround® andBose Centerpoint® Surroundsound system have four DSPmodes:

‐ Normal: Adjusts the audio toprovide the best sound for allseating positions.

‐ Driver: Adjusts the audio toprovide the best sound for thedriver.

‐ Rear: Adjusts the audio toprovide the best sound for therear seat occupants.

‐ Centerpoint: Turns on BoseCenterpoint® surroundtechnology. This settingcreates a surround soundlistening experience fromnearly any audio source;existing stereo, CD collection,satellite radio, and MP3players. For more informationon Bose Centerpoint®

surround technology, visitwww.bose.com/centerpoint.

Auto Volume (If Equipped) : Thisfeature adjusts the volume based onvehicle speed. Select the levelbetween off, low, medium - low,medium, medium - high, or high.Touch [ Back to go back to theprevious menu.

AudioPilot® noise compensationtechnology (If Equipped) : Thisfeature adjusts the volume based onthe noise in the vehicle and speed.When turned ON, AudioPilot®

technology detects ambient noiseand vehicle speed to continuously

adjust many aspects of the audiosignal so that your music will soundthe same at a set volume level.

The options are ON and OFF.

This feature is most effective atlower radio volume settings wherebackground noise can affect howwell you hear the music beingplayed through your vehicle‘s audiosystem. At higher volume settings,where the music is much louderthan the background noise, theremay be little or no adjustments byAudioPilot®.

Tag Song (If Equipped) : Touch totag song information, including artistand title, to transfer to an iPod®.If the iPod is not attached, theinformation will be transferred whenit is attached. Touch OK to go backto the Now Playing view.

Timeshift (If Equipped) : Timeshiftis the recording of a radio station forup to 25 minutes. See “Timeshifting”later in this section.

HD Radio (If Equipped) : For AMand FM only, touch to turn HDreception on or off. Touch [ Back togo back to the previous menu.

Update Station List : For AM andFM only, touch to update the stationlist. Touch [ Back to go back to theprevious menu.

Finding a Station

Seeking a Station

Toucht oru to search for theprevious or next strongest station.

Direct Tune (If Equipped)

Touch the TUNE screen button toswitch to Direct Tune for manuallysearching for a station.

If not equipped with Direct Tune,touch the SEEK screen button toswitch to TUNE. Touch again tochange back. Toucht oru tomanually search for a station.

Storing Radio Station Presets

Favorites are stored in the area atthe bottom of the screen.

Up to 60 preset stations can bestored under the following:

AM, FM, SiriusXM (if equipped),HD Radio Stations : Touch andhold a favorite button to save thecurrent station as a favorite. Touch afavorite button to recall a favoritestation.

Mixed-Audio Favorites

Favorites that can be stored includeradio stations, navigation,applications, contacts, tone settings,artists, songs, albums,podcasts, etc.

To scroll through the favorites:

. Drag up along the top of thefavorites. To close the favorites,drag them down.

. Slide a finger to the right or leftto scroll through each page offavorites. A V indicates whichpage is being viewed.

Tone Settings : While viewing thetone settings and lifting up thefavorite buttons, touch and hold tostore a tone setting. Touch a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite tone setting.

Pandora Radio Stations : Touchand hold a screen button to storethe Pandora application. Pandorafavorite stations work when Pandorais launched.

The number of favorites displayed isautomatically adjusted by default,but can be manually adjusted in theSettings menu under Radio andthen Number of Favorites Shown.

Timeshifting (If Equipped)

The audio system can record liveradio for up to 25 minutes. Whentuned to a station, the systemautomatically begins recording theaudio along with the associatedmetadata. Timeshift must be turnedon in the menu before recording cantake place.

Touch j to pause playback of theaudio and to initiate timeshift mode.Touch r to resume playback of thelive audio.

When timeshifting begins, a time isindicated on the right of the play/pause indicator. This time initiallyindicates the time of day at whichplayback is paused. This timecontinues to show as long as thesystem is in a paused mode and thebuffer continues to fill.

Buffer Reset

The buffer will reset anytime thebroadcast band or stations/channelsare changed. Changing to a mediasource while in pause mode will notreset the buffer.

Rewinding or Fast Forwarding aTimeshifted Broadcast

. Touch and hold thet indicatorto reverse playback at a rate of15 times the rate of normalplayback.

. Touch and hold theu indicatorto advance playback at a rate of15 times the rate of normalplayback. The timeshift buffercan be advanced up to the endof the timeshift buffer and returnto live mode.


Radio 13

Returning to Live Broadcast

If listening to timeshifted radio,touch the LIVE button to return tolive radio.

Timeshifting and Station/ChannelLists

If browsing a station/channel list isstarted while listening to thetimeshift content, the list content isshown in live time, notbuffered time.

Skipping Back in a Broadcast

For programs with metadata,touching the previous button lessthan five seconds into a programwill make the system skip to thebeginning of the previous program.If more than five seconds into thecurrent song/program, the systemstarts at the beginning of the currentprogram. If no metadata is available,the system skips back 25 seconds.

Reaching the End of the Buffer

If the audio is paused and the25 minute buffer is reached, thebuffer continues recording the latestcontent and will erase the oldest

content. When playback is started,the content played will be the last25 minutes in the buffer.

HD Radio TechnologyIf equipped, HD Radio® Technologyis a free service with features suchas static-free sound, more stationsbuilt onto the frequency such asHD2 and HD3, and on-screeninformation such as artist and songtitle.

Channel Access

To access HD Radio channels:

1. Tune the radio to the channel.If the channel is broadcastingHD Radio Technology, theradio will automatically switchto digital audio, indicated withan HD logo if HD Radio isturned on.

2. Toucht oru to tune to theprevious or next HD Radiochannel.

There may be a delay before thechannel starts playing.

The HD Radio channel number isindicated next to the logo.

For a list of all channels, seewww.hdradio.com.

Troubleshooting

Digital Audio Delay : Wait for thesignal to process. This can takeseveral seconds.

Volume Change, Audio Skip,Echo, Digital Audio Lost : Channelsignal strength may be weak or thechannel is out of range. Verifyproper reception on anotherchannel.

If the HD Radio signal losesreception while listening to channelHD1, the radio will go back to themain non-HD Radio channel.

If the HD Radio signal losesreception while listening to channelsHD2 to HD8, the radio mutes untilthe signal can be recovered or untilthe channel is changed.

HD can be disabled if driving in aweak signal area. Touch Menu fromthe AM/FM screens, then touch HDRadio to toggle HD on and off.

Satellite Radio

SiriusXM Satellite RadioService (If Equipped)

Vehicles with a valid SiriusXMsatellite radio subscription canreceive SiriusXM programming.

SiriusXM satellite radio has a widevariety of programming andcommercial-free music, coast tocoast, and in digital-quality sound.See www.siriusxm.com or call1-866-635-2349 in the U.S. InCanada, see www.xmradio.ca or call1-877-209-0079.

When SiriusXM is active, the stationname, number, category name,song title, and artist display on thescreen.

SiriusXM Menu

Pressing the MENU screen buttonmay display the following:

Tone Settings : Press + or − toadjust the tone settings. See AM-FMRadio 0 10.

Tag Song : Press the Tag Songbutton to save song information thatSiriusXM stations include in theirbroadcasts. You can then previewand purchase your tagged songs inthe iTunes® store

When connected to iTunes, theSync button on the device mayneed to be pressed to transfer thetags to iTunes.

Timeshift : Press to turn Timeshifton or off. See AM-FM Radio 0 10.

TuneSelect : For SiriusXM only, thisfeature allows alerts to be set forartists or songs that are played onany other channel. PressTuneSelect on the menu duringplayback of a desired song or artistto set an alert. Press ManageTuneSelect to turn the alerts On andOff or manage the saved selectionof Artists or Songs. To unselect an

alert, press the Song or Artist. Todelete an alert, press −. Press [Back to go back to theprevious menu.

Auto Volume : If equipped, thisfeature adjusts the volume based onthe vehicle speed. See AM-FMRadio 0 10.

Bose® AudioPilot® noisecompensation technology :If equipped, this feature adjusts thevolume based on the noise in thevehicle. See AM-FM Radio 0 10.

SiriusXM Travel Link (IfEquipped)

SiriusXM Travel Link is available onthe navigation system through aservice fee subscription.

From the Home Page, pressWEATHER. The system displaysthe current weather page.

Current Condition

The current weather page displays:

. Doppler Map with Weather

. Forecast Information

. Interaction Selector

. Applications Tray

Allow approximately 15 minutes forthe current weather in the area todisplay.

Weather Regions

When in the weather application,press the SEARCH icon to display asplit map. The list displayed on theleft of the split map allows changesto the location.

The Doppler map and forecastinformation display a preview of themap for the location selected. Theforecast information is for thecurrent weather or next availableforecast data.

Press the EXIT screen button toreturn to the main weather map.

Press one of the options displayedon the Interaction Selector along thebottom of the map screen to selectanother function or display anothertype of list.

Weather Screen Not UnderGuidance

The weather application uses thenavigation system to provide theappropriate information for theguidance route. When not underguidance, it defaults to the currentlocation.

Doppler Map : The Doppler map isshown with the vehicle location inthe center of the map.

City and State : The city and stateare displayed for the view currentlyshown. The default is the currentcity and state that the vehicle is in.

Forecast Information

. The map can be panned toanother location. The forecastinformation is updated to thenew location.

. The city and state update toreflect the current location.

. Press the RESET screen buttonto reset the map back to thecurrent vehicle location.

Weather Menu

Press MENU on the WeatherInteraction Selector along thebottom of the map screen to displaythe Weather Menu.

The options are:

. Weather Advisories: Anyweather advisories that are ineffect for the local area or whileon route are displayed in a list.Press on an advisory from thelist to display a screen that givesadditional details about theadvisory and shows the advisorylocation on the map.

. Configure Weather Alerts: Pressto access the Weather Alertsmenu. Press the Weather Alertsline item to turn the alerts On or

Off. Press to select any one ofthe other line items such asHigh, Low, or Informational tofilter the selected alerts fordisplay, while the others will besuppressed.

. Map Legend: Press to displaythe Map Legend.

Interaction Selector

The Interaction Selector at thebottom of the screen can be used toswitch between different viewswithin the weather screen.

These buttons are:

. ZOOM − or ZOOM +: Press tozoom the map in or out.

. RESET: Press to reset the mapback to its original location.

. SEARCH: Press to search for anew weather map location. Thelast destination screen displays.Press any button along thebottom of the InteractionSelector to help find a differentdestination. These are g, Cities,and Recent.

Press Recent to display a list ofrecent locations that wererecently viewed for weather.

Press g to activate voicerecognition. State a city andstate or ZIP code. Follow thevoice prompts to find the desireddestination.

Press Cities to enter a city andstate or ZIP code.

Type a city or state name on thekeyboard screen to find theweather. If the state is omitted,the system assumes a city isbeing searched for within thecurrent state. If the ZIP code istyped, the system displays thecity associated with thatZIP code.

‐ If one match results from aweather search, the systemreturns to the map. The mapand forecast informationupdates for that location.

‐ If there are multiple resultsfrom the weather search, a listof possible matches displays.The map shows the first match

in the list along with thecurrent weather information inthe lower right corner.

. HOURLY: Press to display thehourly forecast for the currentvehicle location. A forecast iconis shown for each periodavailable.

. 36-HOUR: Press to display thecurrent weather, six-hourforecast, and tomorrow’sweather. A forecast icon isshown for each period available.

. DAILY: Press to display a dailyforecast for the next five days.A forecast icon is shown foreach period available.

. MENU: Press to display thecurrent advisories, turn weatheralerts on or off, and view themap legend.

. ON ROUTE: Press to display theforecasted weather for the route.This feature is only availablewhile under route guidance.


Radio 17

SiriusXM NavTraffic (IfEquipped)

The infotainment system may haveSiriusXM NavTraffic®. It is asubscription service providedthrough SiriusXM Satellite Radio.A service fee is required to receivethe SiriusXM NavTraffic service.

Detailed traffic information isdelivered to the vehicle’s navigationsystem by the SiriusXM Radiosatellites. SiriusXM NavTrafficprovides continuously updatedtraffic information.

The service may be available inmore cities in the future. Seewww.siriusxmnavtraffic.com formore details on local coverage.

To access the traffic features, pressthe Traffic screen button on theMap Menu.

If traffic is not available becausethere is no valid SiriusXMsubscription, a pop-up displaysinformation on how to reactivate thesubscription and SiriusXM radio ID.

Traffic Alert While Under Guidance

If data is received about a trafficdevelopment on the route ahead, asearch for a better route isperformed. If a better route is found,information may be displayed in analert. This alert displays the routeinformation and how much time maybe saved. If the alternative route isaccepted, the current route will bealtered.

If the alert is not acknowledged, thealert automatically times out anddoes not modify the route.

The detail view of the incidentshows any data about the incidentas well as how much time could besaved by avoiding it. The map viewshows the incident, the originalroute, and the suggested route.If voice prompts are enabled, theincident information is spoken.Press the Take New Route screenbutton to change to the new route.

The information aboutthe incident or slow traffic isdisplayed as an alert when theincident is 5 km (3 mi) ahead. SiriusXM Travel Link MovieListings

A movie theater POI can besearched through a POI search orbrowsed through the POI categorystructure. When the details for amovie theater are shown, there is

additional information about thetheater. When SiriusXM Travel LinkMovie Listings information isavailable for the selected theater,this detailed information is shown inthe additional details area of thedisplay.

The details shown depend on thesource of the information.

Details shown include:

. Movie Names

. Parental Ratings (G, PG-13,R, etc.)

. Showtimes

. Runtime

SiriusXM Travel Link FuelPricing (If Equipped)

When SiriusXM Travel Link FuelPricing information is available for aparticular fuel station, the pricedisplays for regular unleaded ordiesel fuel, depending on the fueltype configured in the system.

This fuel station POI can either besearched for through a POI search,or browsed through the POIcategory structure.

. Press the Sort button to changethe sort method. The default sortmethod is based on distance,with the closest fuel stations atthe top of the list.

. Press the Sort button to cyclethrough the sorting options ofdistance, price, or name. Thelast viewed sorting method isdisplayed and is retained overignition cycles.

If the sorting method of price hasbeen selected, the fuel stations inthe list will appear from the lowest tothe highest price based on the fueltype selected. For gasoline, theprice shown is for regular unleaded.When diesel is selected as the fueltype, the diesel price is shown.

Radio ReceptionUnplug electronic devices from theaccessory power outlets if there isinterference or static in the radio.


Radio 19

FM

FM signals only reach about 16 to65 km (10 to 40 mi). Although theradio has a built-in electronic circuitthat automatically works to reduceinterference, some static can occur,especially around tall buildings orhills, causing the sound to fade inand out.

AM

The range for most AM stations isgreater than for FM, especially atnight. The longer range can causestation frequencies to interfere witheach other. Static can also occurwhen things like storms and powerlines interfere with radio reception.When this happens, try reducing thetreble on the radio.

SiriusXM Satellite RadioService

If equipped, SiriusXM SatelliteRadio Service provides digital radioreception. Tall buildings or hills caninterfere with satellite radio signals,causing the sound to fade in andout. In addition, traveling or standingunder heavy foliage, bridges,

garages, or tunnels may cause lossof the SiriusXM signal for a periodof time.

Cell Phone Usage

Cell phone usage, such as makingor receiving phone calls, charging,or just having the phone on maycause static interference in theradio. Unplug the phone or turn it offif this happens.

Backglass AntennaThe AM-FM antenna is integratedwith the rear window defogger in therear window. Do not scratch theinside surface or damage the linesin the glass. If the inside surface isdamaged, it could interfere withradio reception. For proper radioreception, the antenna connectorneeds to be properly attached to thepost on the glass.

If attaching a cell phone antenna tothe glass, attach it between the gridlines.

Caution

Using a razor blade or sharpobject to clear the inside rearwindow can damage the rearwindow antenna and/or the rearwindow defogger. Repairs wouldnot be covered by the vehiclewarranty. Do not clear the insiderear window with sharp objects.

Caution

Do not apply aftermarket glasstinting with metallic film. Themetallic film in some tintingmaterials will interfere with ordistort the incoming radioreception. Any damage caused tothe backglass antenna due tometallic tinting materials will notbe covered by the vehiclewarranty.

Multi-Band AntennaThe roof antenna is for OnStar,SiriusXM Satellite Radio (U.S. andCanada only), and GPS (GlobalPositioning System). Keep clear ofobstructions for clear reception.If the vehicle has a sunroof, and it isopen, reception can also beaffected.

Pandora Internet RadioIf equipped, Pandora® is a freeInternet radio service that streamspersonalized radio stations basedon artists, tracks, genres, andcomedians. Create stations usingthe Pandora website or Smartphoneapplication, then use- (thumbs up)

or, (thumbs down) to personalizestations. To set up an account, or formore information, go towww.pandora.com.

A phone or tablet with an Internetconnection and the Pandoraapplication installed is required.Personal cell phone data plans areused. Make sure the latest versionis installed on the device.

Launching Pandora

Connect the iPhone to the USBport, or connect Android™ orBlackBerry® through Bluetooth. SeeBluetooth (Overview) 0 93 orBluetooth (Infotainment Controls)0 94 or Bluetooth (VoiceRecognition) 0 97. For first time use,set up the stations beforeconnecting to the vehicle.

Using the iPhone

1. Plug the device into the USBport. The phone screen mustbe unlocked.

2. Launch Pandora directly fromthe Home Page by touchingthe Pandora icon.

If nothing happens when theavailable Pandora screen button istouched, download the latestPandora application and retry.

The login screen may display on thedevice.

Using an Android or BlackBerryPhone

The Android or BlackBerry phonemust be unlocked to launchPandora service.

1. Pair the phone using Bluetooth.

2. Touch Pandora on the HomePage to launch the service.

3. If nothing happens when theavailable Pandora screenbutton is touched, downloadthe latest Pandora applicationand retry.

Pandora Features

Pandora service has features to ratetracks, skip tracks, or changestations.

, (Thumbs Down) : Whentouched, Pandora stores thisinformation, changes to the nexttrack, and does not play this trackon this station again. This helpsPandora choose which tracksshould not play on this station. Thisfeature is only available on usercreated stations.

- (Thumbs Up) : When touched,Pandora stores this informationand- is highlighted for theremainder of the track. This helpsPandora choose which tracksshould play on this station.

u (Next Track) : When touched,Pandora changes to the next track.

r or j (Play/Pause) : Touch to playor pause playback.

Pandora Skip Limit

Pandora limits the number of skipsallowed on their service. When theskip limit is reached,, oru willnot skip the currently playing track,but the, feedback will berecorded.

Advertisements on Pandora

Pandora may displayadvertisements. The artist nameand track title will not be displayedand the skip track button will not beavailable.

Pandora Troubleshooting

Unable to Connect Device toVehicle

If the device is unable to connectthrough the USB or Bluetooth:

1. Turn the vehicle off.

2. Take the Remote Keyless Entry(RKE) transmitter at least 6 m(20 ft) away from the vehicle.

3. Wait about 30 seconds, and tryto connect the device again.See Bluetooth (Overview) 0 93or Bluetooth (InfotainmentControls) 0 94 or Bluetooth(Voice Recognition) 0 97.

Unable to Start Pandora

If the device is unable to launchPandora:

. Check that the latest version ofPandora is installed.

. Check that there is an activeaccount logged into Pandora.

. Have at least one stationcreated.

. For Android and BlackBerrydevices, check that the device ispaired with the vehicle, andwhether the device displays inthe Connected phone sourceslist under the Phone icon fromthe Home Page.

. For an iPhone, check that theUSB cable is connected to theUSB port and the screen isunlocked.

. Close Pandora on the deviceand launch again. Devices thatallow multitasking may requirean extra step to quit the Pandoraapplication. See the cell phonemanufacturer's user guide.

Thumbs Up or Thumbs DownError

If there is an error trying to rate atrack with the, or- buttons, themessage “Thumbs Down Error” or“Thumbs Up Error” will display.Touch OK to dismiss.

Loss of Audio

Loss of Pandora audio can happenin different ways:

. Weak or lost data connection.

. Device needs to be charged.

. Application needs to berelaunched.

. Connection between phone andradio was lost.

. An iPhone is connected to bothBluetooth and the USB port.

If there is a loss of audio, playbackcan be resumed by changing theaudio flow from Bluetooth to USBcable.

Common Pandora Messages

Pandora Error/Please CheckDevice : Not signed in or Pandorais down for maintenance.

No Stations Available : No stationsare available on the Pandora serverthrough the connected device.

No Internet Connection : A fewreasons for loss of Internetconnection are:

. The connected device loses itscellular connection.

. The device does not supportInternet connectivity.

. The device is not in the vehicle.

No Bluetooth Signal : TheBluetooth signal is lost.

CD PlayerIf equipped, the player can be usedfor CD and MP3 audio.

The system is capable of playing:

. Most audio CDs

. CD-R

. CD-RW

. MP3 or unprotected WMAformats

When playing any compatiblerecordable disc, the sound qualitycan be reduced due to disc quality,the method of recording, the qualityof the music that has beenrecorded, or the way the disc hasbeen handled.

There can be increased skipping,difficulty in finding tracks, and/ordifficulty in loading and ejecting.If these problems occur, check thedisc for damage or try a knowngood disc.

To avoid damage to the CD player:

. Do not use scratched ordamaged discs.

. Do not apply labels to discs. Thelabels could get caught in theplayer.

. Insert only one disc at a time.

. Keep the loading slot free offoreign materials, liquids, anddebris.

. Use a marking pen to label thetop of the disc.

Loading and Ejecting Discs

To load a disc:

1. Turn the vehicle on.

2. Insert a disc into the slot, labelside up. The player pulls it inthe rest of the way. If the discis damaged or improperlyloaded, there is an error andthe disc ejects.

PressX to eject a disc from theCD player. If the disc is not removedwithin a short period of time, it isautomatically pulled back into theplayer.

Playing an Audio MP3 or CD

Touch the MEDIA screen buttonuntil CD Audio icon Now Playingview is selected.

On the CD main page, a tracknumber displays at the beginning ofeach track, or Song, Artist, andAlbum information displays whenavailable.

Use the following controls to playthe disc:

t (Previous/Fast Reverse):

. Touch to seek to the beginningof the current or previous track.If the track has been playing forless than 10 seconds, it seeks tothe previous track. If longer thanfive seconds, the current trackstarts from the beginning.

When a Blu-ray® or DVD disc,if equipped, is loaded and the CDbutton is touched, a messagedisplays. Go to video application toplay DVD/BD.

Error Messages

If Disc Error displays and/or the disccomes out, it could be for one of thefollowing reasons:

. The disc has an invalid orunknown format.

. The road is very rough. Try thedisc again when the road issmoother.

. The disc is dirty, scratched, wet,or upside down.

. The air is very humid. Try thedisc again later.

. There was a problem whileburning the disc.

. The label is caught in the CDplayer.

If Disc Player Error displays, it couldbe for one of the following reasons:

. The player temperature istoo high.

. There are load or eject errors.

If the CD is not playing correctly, forany other reason, try a knowngood CD.

If any error continues, contact yourdealer.

MP3/CD Menu

Touch the MENU button while thatsource is active to access the menu.

Touch any of the following buttonson the MP3/CD Menu:

Shuffle: Touch to play the tracksrandomly. Touch again to stopshuffle.

Auto Volume: If equipped, thisfeature adjusts the volume based onthe speed of the vehicle. SeeAM-FM Radio 0 10.

Tone Settings: Touch + or − toadjust Bass, Midrange, Treble,or Surround. See AM-FM Radio0 10.

MP3 Guidelines. Sampling rate: 16 kHz,

22.05 kHz, 24 kHz, 32 kHz,44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz.

. Bit rates supported: 8, 16, 24,32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112,128, 144, 160, 192, 224, 256,and 320 kbps.

. Recorded on a CD-R or CD-RW.

MP3 Folder Information

Touch anywhere between the topapplications tray or the bottom menuto display the browse screen.

Root Directory : To access, touchthe screen anywhere in the centralarea of the screen. The rootdirectory is treated as a folder. All

files contained directly under theroot directory are accessed prior toany root directory folders.

No Folder : When the CD onlycontains compressed audio fileswithout any folders or playlists, allfiles are under the root folder.

File System and Naming : Thesong titles, artists, albums, andgenres are taken from the file's ID3tag and are only displayed if presentin the tag. If a song title is notpresent in the ID3 tag, the radiodisplays the file name as thetrack name.

USB PortAudio from videos stored on SD/USB cards may be listened to whilethe vehicle is in a forward gear.Videos can be watched while thevehicle is in P (Park). Use play/pause or next/previous to controlthe video or touch the browsescreen to display a list of the currentvideo filters.

This vehicle may have three USBports: one USB port in the centerconsole, one USB port in the

storage behind the climate controlsystem, and if equipped with RearSeat Entertainment (RSE), theremay be one USB port in the rearmedia console storage area.

Playing from a USB

A USB mass storage device can beconnected to the USB port.

Audio extensions supported by theUSB are:

. MP3

. WMA

. AAC

. OGG

. AIFF

. 3GPP

Gracenote®

When plugging in a USB device,Gracenote service builds voice tagsfor music. Voice tags allow artists,albums with hard to pronouncenames, and nicknames to be usedto play music through voicerecognition.

While indexing, infotainmentfeatures are available.

My Media Library

My Media is only available whenmore than one indexed device isconnected. It allows access tocontent from all indexed mediasources. Touch the MEDIA screenbutton to scroll through the optionsuntil My Media is selected. Touchanywhere in the central area of thescreen to browse the content.

USB MP3 Player and USB Drives

The USB MP3 players and USBdrives connected must comply withthe USB Mass Storage Classspecification (USB MSC).

To play a USB device:

1. Connect the USB.

2. Touch MEDIA until theconnected device is shown.

Use the following when playing anactive USB source:

r (Play) : Touch to play the currentmedia source.

The songs, artists, albums, andgenres are taken from the file’ssong information and are onlydisplayed if present. The radio

displays the file name as the trackname if the song information is notavailable.

Loss of Audio

Do not play music through Bluetoothof an iPhone that is connected byUSB. If an attempt to pair theBluetooth of the same connectedphone is made, the system willautomatically mute the iPhoneaudio.

If a phone currently paired overBluetooth is plugged in with a USBcable, the system will automaticallymute the phone audio. Playbackcan be resumed by changing theaudio source from Bluetooth to USBcable.

Source USB from the Audio MEDIAscreen button to resume playback.

Other phones such as the Androidphones may have a similar reaction.

Storing and Recalling MediaFavorites

To store media favorites, touch andhold an open favorite during mediaplayback to display a list of mediatypes. Select from this list.

The media types that maydisplay are:

Genres : Touch to store the currentgenre as a favorite. Touch a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite genre. The first song of thegenre begins to play.

Artists : Touch to store the currentartist as a favorite. Touch a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite artist. The first song in theartist list begins to play.

Albums : Touch to store the currentalbum as a favorite. Touch a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite album. The first song in thealbum list begins to play.

Playlists : Touch to store thecurrent playlist as a favorite. Toucha screen button in the favorite areato recall a favorite playlist. The firstsong in the playlist begins to play.

Songs : Touch to store the currentsong as a favorite. Touch a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite song.

Podcasts or Podcast Episode :Touch and hold a screen button tostore the current podcast as afavorite. Touch a screen button inthe favorite area to recall a favoritepodcast or podcast episode. Thepodcast or podcast episode beginsto play.

Audiobooks : Touch and hold ascreen button to save the currentaudiobook as a favorite. Touch ascreen button in the favorite area torecall a favorite audiobook; the firstchapter in the audiobook beginsto play.

Videos : Touch and hold a screenbutton to store the current video asa favorite. Touch a screen button inthe favorite area to recall a favoritevideo; the first episode in the videobegins to play. Not all formats aresupported.

SD Card ReaderIf equipped, this vehicle may havetwo SD card readers: one in thecenter console and one in the rearHVAC area, if equipped with RearSeat Entertainment (RSE).

The SD card reader is for audio andvideo playback and uses the samecontrols as the USB Port. Playbackfrom an SD card follows the samefile formats and restrictions definedunder USB Port 0 25. Not allformats are supported.

Set up the SD card while the vehicleis in P (Park). See “Audio” underIntroduction 0 2.

Place the card into the port.

If an SD card has already beenconnected, but a different source iscurrently active, touch the MEDIAscreen button to scroll through theaudio source screens until SD carddisplays.

Auxiliary JackThis vehicle has an auxiliary inputjack in the center console under thearmrest and in the rear mediaconsole if equipped with Rear SeatEntertainment (RSE). Possibleauxiliary audio sources include:

. Laptop computer

. Audio music player

This jack is not an audio output. Donot plug headphones into theauxiliary input jack. Set up anauxiliary device while the vehicle isin P (Park).

Connect a 3.5 mm (1/8 in) cablefrom the auxiliary device to theauxiliary input jack. When a deviceis connected, the system can playaudio from the device over thevehicle speakers.

If an auxiliary device has alreadybeen connected, but a differentsource is currently active, touch theMEDIA screen button to scrollthrough audio source screens, untilAUX Input source screen displays.

Bluetooth AudioMusic may be played from a pairedBluetooth device. See Bluetooth(Overview) 0 93 or Bluetooth(Infotainment Controls) 0 94 orBluetooth (Voice Recognition) 0 97for help pairing a device.

Volume and song selection may becontrolled by using the infotainmentcontrols or on the phone/device.If Bluetooth Audio is selected andno volume is present, check thevolume setting on both your phone/device and the infotainment system.

Music can be launched by touchingthe MEDIA screen button on theHome Page.

To play music via Bluetooth:

1. Power on the device, and pairto connect the device.

2. Once paired, go into the audioapplication from the HomePage or via the applicationstray. Select MEDIA untilBluetooth displays.

Bluetooth Audio Menu

Touch the MENU screen button todisplay the Bluetooth Audio menu.The following may be available:

When selecting Bluetooth audio, theradio may not be able to launch theaudio player on the connecteddevice to start playing. When thevehicle is not moving, use thephone to begin playback.

All devices launch audio differently.When selecting Bluetooth audio asa source, the radio may show as

paused on the screen. Press playon the device or touch r on thescreen to begin playback.

Rear Seat Entertainment(RSE) SystemIf equipped, the system includes aBlu-ray/DVD/CD player, USB, SD,audio/video jacks, wirelessheadphones, and a remote control.

The remote control is used to selectthe same or a different source foreach screen from the rear seats.

Video can be viewed from the frontby touching the Video screen icon,if the vehicle is in P (Park). Audiowill be heard over the speakers.If another screen icon is selected,the video on the rear screen willcontinue to play but the audio on thespeakers will change to the sourceselected.

To resume play of the video where itleft off, Pseudo Resume must beon. See “Player Setup BD/DVD"later in this section.

The RSE system may not operateproperly until the temperature isabove −20°C (−4°F) and below 55°C (131°F).

System Operation

The video screens are on the backof the driver and front passengerseats, or overhead in the second orthird row (if equipped).

Rear Seat Screens (As Equipped)

1. Press the release button on theseatback console or in front ofthe overhead screen. Do notpull on the sides of the screen.

3. Opening a screen will turn thesystem on. If the screens areopen with the system off, pressthe power button on the remoteto turn the system on.

The system can also be turnedon from the front infotainmentsystem by touching the Videoscreen button. After selected,another item can be selectedfrom the Home Page and thevideo and audio will continue toplay in the rear.

Select to display. To close, press4(Back) or MENU, wait for the menuto time out, or press the down arrowfrom the 0 or Done buttons. Thekeypad is disc dependent and mayhave no function.

The keypad input is limited to fourdigits.

Select Clear to clear one digit at atime. Touch and hold to clear allentered digits.

Player Setup BD/DVD

Player Setup may include:

. Default Menu Language: With nodisc inserted, select from a list oflanguages or enter alanguage code.

. Audio Channel (AVCREC,DBAV, DVD-VR only) contains:Stereo, Left Mono, and RightMono. Audio Channel isavailable from the Settingsmenu. Default will be determinedby the disc.

Errors

Errors can occur if the local storagearea has been broken or if theignition is turned off duringformatting. If the screen is closedduring formatting, this will notinterrupt the formatting. If the screenis opened again, the current state offormat will be displayed. If an erroroccurs, the Error screen will displaywhen the ignition is turned on.

Wired Headphones

Select from the Settings menu, thenselect the headphone audio for thewired headphone jack based onscreen 1 or screen 2 and pressENTER or the right arrow. Press4(Back) to exit.

The headphones are set to screen 1by default.

Title Search (CD-DA Only)

This displays a list of titles to selectby using the up and down arrows.

Disc Information (CD-DA Only)

If the inserted disc is a BDMV,BDAV, AVCHD, AVCREC,DVD-Video, or DVD-VR, the disctitle should display. If the inserteddisc is DVD-Audio, DTS-CD, CDDA,or Mixed-CD, the track number willdisplay.

DivX®

If supported, this indicates thevehicle is registered to play DivXmedia and explains how to obtainmore information.

Software Information

This allows access to VersionInformation, Save Vehicle Info toUSB, and View Open Source.

Save Vehicle Info to USB allows thecurrent version to be saved to ajump drive, which must be donebefore an update can be performed.

View Open Source indicates wheresoftware information can be found.



Changing Between SCREEN 1 andSCREEN 2

For single overhead screensystems only:

Although two audio sources can belistened to at one time, only onevideo source can be viewed on theoverhead screen at a time.

Press the SCREEN 1 or SCREEN 2button on the remote control tochange between which source willdisplay on the overhead screen.

When SCREEN 1 is being displayedand the SCREEN 2 button on theremote is pressed, the source forSCREEN 2 will be displayed. Theaudio for SCREEN 1 is available onchannel 1 of the headphones andthe audio for SCREEN 2 is availableon channel 2 of the headphones.Change the channel on theheadphones to the desired screensource.

One user can listen to the audiofrom SCREEN 1 and view thesource on the overhead displaywhile another user can listen to aseparate audio source by changing

the channel on the wirelessheadphones or setting their wiredheadphones to SCREEN 2 inthe MENU.

RSE Controls Available fromthe Front Screen

To access the RSE, select Videofrom the HOME screen. The Videoapp may also be selected from theapplications tray if it has beenstored in one of the five locations.

Sourcing to DVD/BD

This allows for watching a DVD/BDvideo on the front screen when thevehicle is in P (Park).

After a disc is inserted, it willautomatically begin playing. Toresume play of the video where itleft off, Pseudo Resume must beon. See "Player Setup BD/DVD"previously in this section.

With the vehicle in P (Park), iconsdisplay along the bottom of the frontscreen. When a DVD, VCD, USB,AUX, or SD is inserted:

Rear Media

This allows for transitioning betweenAUX, Disc, USB, and SD sourcesfor the rear screens. Sourcesselected will be automaticallysourced for both rear screens andwill begin playback from the firstavailable file.

The video will only appear on thefront screen with the vehicle inP (Park). In any other gear, the frontscreen displays the active mediasource.



DVD/BD Disc Menu

With the vehicle in P (Park), touchDISC MENU to access the DVD/BDdisc menu.

Next Track/Previous Track

Useu to skip ahead ort to skip

back chapters. Toucht less thanfive seconds into the current track tostart at the beginning of theprevious track. Toucht more thanfive seconds into the current track tostart at the beginning of the currenttrack.

Fast Forward/Fast Rewind

With the vehicle in P (Park), hold uort for approximately one andone-half seconds to fast forward orfast rewind. If u ort are held forapproximately six seconds, the rateof fast forward or fast rewind willincrease.

Play/Pause

touch r to play or j to pause,depending on the current selection.

Keypad for DVD/VCD/SD/USB

With the vehicle in P (Park), selectto display the DVD keypad. DVDkeypad functionality is discdependent and may not be availableon all DVDs. Up to four digits canbe entered. Select Clear to removeone digit in the entry field. Pressand hold Clear to remove all digitsin the entry field.

Pop Up Menu (BD Only)

This displays the pop up menucontents for the BD. Make aselection or use the InteractionSelector to exit pop up menu view.

Cursor

Use to navigate and select items inthe disc menu. Touch the up, down,right, or left arrows, or ENTER.Touch cursor to close the InteractionSelector and display a vertical menuof cursor buttons. The cursor willtime out and close.

Sourcing USB/SD/VCD/AUX withVideo

This allows for watching videos onthe front screen from devicesplugged into the rear module whenin P (Park).

With the vehicle in P (Park), iconsdisplay:

These features will function thesame as in DVD/BD sources, withthe following exceptions:

. KEYPAD is only available forVCD in P (Park).

. DISC MENU is only available fordisc sources such as VCD. Thesystem displays the menuprovided by the disc.

Rear Media

Use to select AUX, Disc, USB,or SD sources. Both rear screenswill be sourced and will beginplayback of the first available file.The video will only display on thefront screen if the vehicle is inP (Park). In any other gear, the frontscreen displays the active mediasource.

Previous Track/Next Track

Toucht oru to select theprevious or next track on the currentmedia.

Play/Pause

Touch r to play or j to pause,depending on the current selection.

Menu (DVD/BD/SD/USB/AUX/VCD)

Only available in D (Drive). PressMENU to display these options:

. Tone Settings: Use to set bass,mid, and treble on speakersonly. Once set, tone settings arefor all sources.

. Auto Volume Control: Adjuststhe volume of the audio basedon the speed or ambient noise ofthe vehicle. Some vehicles maybe equipped with the BoseAudioPilot system. In thesecases, the Auto Volume mainmenu item is replaced with theBose AudioPilot menu item. AVCor Bose AudioPilot is available touse with any source mode.

. Traffic Announcements: Displaystraffic alerts in the RSE system.The video will continue to playand the audio will mute,depending on the alert.

Closing the Menu (DVD/BD)

Touch Back or Exit to close a menu.This will return to the previouslyviewed screen.

Power

Press the power button on the frontscreen to turn the RSE screen on oroff. The front screen will continue tooperate when the overhead screenis turned off. A red lit power buttonindicates the rear screens are on.A white lit power button indicatesthe rear screens are off.



Headphones

RSE includes two or four 2-channelwireless headphones depending onthe vehicle model. The headphonesare used to listen to variousmultimedia. The wirelessheadphones have a power button,Channel 1 or 2 switch, and avolume control.

Press the power button to turn onthe headphones. A light on theheadphones comes on. If the lightdoes not come on, check thebatteries. Intermittent sound or static

can also indicate weak batteries.See “Battery Replacement” later inthis section.

Turn the headphones off when notin use.

Press the center of the right side ofthe headphone to change thechannel. Channel 1 will provideaudio associated with screen 1 andchannel 2 will provide audioassociated with screen 2.

Infrared transmitters are on the topof the left seatback video screen orin front of the second overheadscreen. The headphones shut offautomatically to save the batterypower if the RSE system is off or ifthe headphones are out of range ofthe transmitters for more thanthree minutes. Moving too farforward or stepping out of thevehicle can cause the headphonesto lose the signal or have static.

Use the volume control on theheadphones to adjust the volume.

For best audio performance, wearthe headphones as indicated withL (Left) and R (Right) on the earpads. Do not let anything cover theear pads.

Caution

Do not store the headphones inheat or direct sunlight. This coulddamage the headphones andrepairs will not be covered by thewarranty. Storage in extreme coldcan weaken the batteries. Keepthe headphones stored in a cool,dry place.

If the foam ear pads become wornor damaged, the pads can bereplaced separately. To purchasereplacement ear pads, call1-888-293-3332 or contact yourdealer.

Battery Replacement

To change the batteries:

1. Loosen the screw to the batterydoor on the left side of theheadphones.



2. Slide the battery door open.

3. Replace the two AAA batteries.

4. Replace the battery door andtighten the screw.

Remove the batteries if theheadphones will not be used for along time.

Auxiliary Inputs

Audio/Video (A/V) Jacks

Rear Media Connections (AsEquipped)

If equipped with RSE, featuresabove will be in the rear of thecenter console. These ports are forthe primary use of the rearpassengers and not all media isavailable to the front passengers.

The A/V jacks allow audio or videocables to be connected from anauxiliary device such as acamcorder, video game system,or Apple device. A cable from Appleis required.

The A/V jacks are color coded:

. Yellow for video input

. White for left audio input

. Red for right audio input

Power for the auxiliary devices isnot supplied by the infotainmentsystem.

To use the auxiliary inputs of theRSE system:

1. Connect the auxiliary devicecables to the A/V jacks.

2. Power on both the auxiliarydevice and the RSE videoscreen.

3. Press Media on the remotecontrol and use the left or rightarrows to change the sourceto AUX.

USB/SD

This allows for video and audioplayback of supported media.

Audio from these ports can only beheard and controlled by the rearseat passengers. Video can beheard, shown, and controlled by therear and front passengers.

To use the USB and SD:

1. Insert the device in theappropriate slot.

2. Select the source via the rearscreen menu with the remotecontrol MEDIA button.

3. Select the source via the frontby pressing on the Videoapplication on the homescreen.



Audio Output

Audio from a Blu-ray/DVD/CDplayer or auxiliary inputs can beheard through:

. Wireless headphones: Availablefor any source depending on theselected channel.

. Vehicle speakers: Touch theVIDEO screen button. Selectany other source to stop thespeaker audio.

. Vehicle wired headphone jack:See “Wired Headphone Jack”following.

The RSE system transmits theaudio signal to the wirelessheadphones if an audio signal isavailable. See “Headphones” earlierin this section.

Front seat passengers can listen toplayback from the A/V jacks throughthe vehicle speakers by selectingRear A/V as the source on the radio.

Wired Headphone Jack

Select MENU on the remote control,then select Settings and then WiredHeadphones to listen to audio on

the wired headphones. Theheadphone audio plays dependingon which screen is selected. Thedefault is screen 1 audio.

To use the remote control, aim it atthe transmitter window at eitherseatback console or at the secondrow overhead screen and press thebuttons firmly. Direct sunlight or verybright light could affect the ability ofthe RSE transmitter to receivesignals from the remote control.Check the batteries if the remote

control does not seem to beworking. See “Battery Replacement”later in this section. Objectsblocking the line of sight could alsoaffect the function of the remotecontrol.

If a CD, Blu-ray/DVD, or MP3 disc isin the CD slot, the remote control Obutton can be used to turn on thevideo screen display and start thedisc. The infotainment system canalso turn on the video screendisplay.

Caution

Storing the remote control in a hotarea or in direct sunlight candamage it, and the repairs will notbe covered by the warranty.Storage in extreme cold canweaken the batteries. Keep theremote control stored in a cool,dry place.

Battery Replacement

To change the remote controlbatteries:

1. Insert a coin or key to pull upthe rear cover on the remotecontrol.

2. Replace the two AAA batteriesin the compartment.

3. Replace the battery cover.

Remove the batteries from theremote control if it will not be usedfor an extended period of time.

RSE Troubleshooting

No power : The ignition might notbe in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY.

The picture does not fill thescreen. There are black borderson the top and bottom or on bothsides or it looks stretched out :Press the MENU button on theremote control to change the displaymode setting.

In auxiliary mode, the picturemoves or scrolls : Check theauxiliary input connections at bothdevices.

The remote control does notwork : Check to make sure theremote control is programmed to the



correct screen. Make sure there isno obstruction between the remotecontrol and the transmitter windowand check the batteries to makesure they are not dead or installedincorrectly.

There is no sound from theheadphones with the indicatorlight on : If the batteries are good,make sure the headphones areprogrammed to the correct screenand on the correct channel for thescreen being viewed.

The auxiliary source is runningbut there is no picture or sound :Check that the RSE video screen isin the auxiliary source mode bypressing the MEDIA button on theremote control. Check the auxiliaryinput connections at both devices.

Sometimes the wirelessheadphone audio cuts out orbuzzes : Check for obstructions,low batteries, reception range, andinterference from cell phone towersor from cellular telephone use in thevehicle. Check that the headphonesare on correctly using the L (Left)and R (Right) on the headphones.

Check that the headphones arepositioned properly with theheadband across the top ofthe head.

I lost the remote and/or theheadphones : See your dealer forassistance.

The Blu-ray/DVD is playing, butthere is no picture or sound :Check that the RSE video screen issourced to the Blu-ray/DVD playerby pressing the MEDIA button onthe remote control.

Video Display Error Messages

The video screen may display oneof the following:

Disc Error : There are disc load oreject problems, the disc is insertedwith the disc label wrong side up,the disc is damaged, or the disc isnot from the correct region.

No Disc Inserted : No disc ispresent.

Disc Player Error : Thetemperature is outside the operatingrange of the RSE system. If thetemperature is within range, seeyour dealer.

Video Distortion

Video distortion can occur whenoperating cellular phones, scanners,CB radios, Global PositioningSystems (GPS), two-way radios,mobile faxes, or walkie talkies.

It might be necessary to turn off thevideo player when operating one ofthese devices in or near the vehicle.

Rear Seat Entertainment(RSE) System (Platinum)

Caution

Use of controls or adjustments orperformance of procedures otherthan those specified herein mayresult in hazardous radiationexposure.



Vehicles with an RSE systeminclude two head restraint videodisplay screens with integrated DVDplayers, auxiliary inputs, two wiredheadphones, and remote control.This system works independentlyfrom the vehicle's Overhead DVDRSE system. See Rear SeatEntertainment (RSE) System 0 32or Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE)System (Platinum) 0 49 forinformation about the OverheadDVD RSE system.

The vehicle has a feature calledRetained Accessory Power (RAP).With RAP, the RSE system can beplayed even after the ignition isturned off. See “Retained AccessoryAccessory Power (RAP)” in theowner manual.

Video Display Screens

The video display screens arelocated on the back of each headrestraint.

Caution

Avoid directly touching the videoscreen, as damage can occur.See “Cleaning the Video Screens”later in this section for moreinformation.

RSE Overview System

The loading slot for the DVD playeris located at the top of the headrestraint. Insert the disc partially intothe loading slot with the printed sidefacing the rear of the vehicle. TheDVD player automatically draws thedisc in, “Loading” displays on thescreen along with a disc indicator,and playback starts. If the disc isinserted incorrectly, the DVD playerejects the disc and “No Disc”displays.

Some DVDs do not allow fastforwarding or skipping of thecopyright information or previews.If the DVD does not begin playing atthe main title, refer to the on-screeninstructions.

The DVD player can be controlledby using the buttons below thevideo display screen or by using thebuttons on the system’s remotecontrol. See “Remote Control” laterin this section.

The following discs are compatiblewith the DVD player:

. DVD-Video: A DVD that hasvideo.

. CD-DA: A CD that has music orsound content only.

. CD-Video: A CD that has amovie.

. CD-R/RW: A disc that has audiofiles such as CD-R withdownloaded MP3 files, MPEG,or JPEG files.

The DVD player and discs arecoded by global region. The DVDplayers are set to Region 1. Discswith other region codes will not workin the players.

If an error message displays on thevideo screen, see “DVD Messages”later in this section.



While the vehicle is moving,passengers should not unfastentheir safety belts to makeadjustments to the video screencontrol buttons. See “Safety Belts”in the owner manual. Use theremote control for any necessaryadjustments. See “Remote Control”later in this section.

1. Video Screen

. Located behind the frontseat headrest.

2. CD/DVD Slot

. The loading slot for theDVD player is located at thetop of the head restraint.

Insert the disc partially intothe loading slot with theprinted side facing the rearof the vehicle. The DVDplayer automatically drawsthe disc in, “Loading”displays on the screenalong with a disc indicator,and playback starts. If thedisc is inserted incorrectly,the DVD player ejects thedisc and “No Disc” displays.

3. Lever Lock and Release Latch

. The viewing angle of thevideo screen can beadjusted by releasing thelatch and gently moving thescreen. Then lock it into asecure position.

4. EJECTX. Press to eject a disc from

the DVD slot.

If a disc is ejected from theplayer, but not removed, itwill automatically reloadinto the player. Another wayto reload a disc that hasbeen ejected, but not

removed from the DVDplayer, is to press the ejectbutton or the play button.

5. STOP c. Press once to stop playing

a DVD.

There is a pre-stop featurefor DVD and video CD only.This feature resumesplayback of the disc whereit was stopped. Press thestop button once duringdisc playback and cdisplays on the DVD startupscreen. This icondisappears after a fewseconds. Press the stopbutton a second time,or eject the disc, to cancelthe pre-stop feature and toclear the disc positionmemory.

6. PLAY r. Press this button located

below the video displayscreen to start playback ofa disc. On DVDs and videoCDs with playback



control (PBC), menuscreens can displayautomatically. It might benecessary to press the playbutton again to begin play.There is a play positionmemory feature for DVDand video CD only. If theDVD player is turned offand then turned back on,the DVD player resumesplayback where the discstopped. The play positionmemory is erased if thedisc is removed.

7. 3.5 mm (1/8 in) Output Jack

. Wired headphones can beplugged in with a 3.5 mm(1/8 in) jack.

8. Right Audio Input

. The red connector is usedfor the right side audio.

9. Left Audio Input

. The white connector isused for the left side audio.

10. Video Input

. The yellow connector isused for video input.

11. USB Port

. Connect the USB drive tolisten to music or viewpictures. To charge devices,connect it to the USB port.Not all devices are able tobe charged. For playback,the formats available are:

Using the RSE On-ScreenDisplay (OSD) Menus

Not all DVDs support all of thefeature defaults in the setup menus.If a feature is not supported, thedefaults are provided by the DVDmedia.

General Setup Menu

To set the language for the OSD:

1. Press the SETUP button on theremote control.

2. Use the left/right navigationarrows to navigate the GeneralSetup Page, then use the downnavigation arrow to select theOSD language.

3. Press the ENTER button andthen use the right or leftnavigation arrows to selectEnglish, Simple/TraditionalChinese, French, German,Italian, Spanish, Portuguese,or Korean. Press the leftnavigation arrow to go back tothe previous menu.

The angle mark allows differentviewing angles on the DVD player.To set the angle mark:


2. Use the left/right navigationarrows to navigate the GeneralSetup Page, then use the downnavigation arrow to select theAngle Mark.

3. Press the ENTER button andthen use the right or leftnavigation arrows to select Onor Off. Press the left navigationarrow to go back to theprevious menu.

Audio Setup Menu

The Audio Setup Menu is availablewhen a disc is not loaded.

To set the speaker setup:

The Dolby Digital Setup Menuspeaker options are Stereo,L-Mono, R-Mono, and Mix-Mono.

Video Quality Setup Menu

To set up the video qualitysetup menu:

Contrast : Adjust to increase ordecrease the picture contrast. Usethe right or left navigation arrows tochoose from −16 to +16.

Hue : Adjust to increase ordecrease the color hue. Use theright or left navigation arrows tochoose from −9 to +9.

Saturation : Adjust to increase ordecrease color intensity. Use theright or left navigation arrows tochoose from −9 to +9.

To set the audio playback language:

If yes if selected, the six digitpassword must be entered for thedisc to play. If the wrong passwordis entered, the following messageappears:

This movie will not play due to theParental Setting of the player.

To create a six digit password, usethe numeric keypad on the remotecontrol. Press the ENTER button toconfirm. The default password is136900.

To change the Parental ControlPassword:


2. Navigate to the Passwordsub-menu under thePreference Menu and pressENTER.

3. At the Old Password option,enter the old password or thedefault password (136900).

4. At the New Password option,enter the new password (sixdigits) using numeric buttons.

5. At the Confirm PWD option,confirm the new password byentering the new passwordagain.

6. Scroll to the OK button andpress ENTER. The message“Your password has beenchanged” displays.

To reset the system back to thefactory default settings:

Vehicle Speakers

Audio from the DVD player or anauxiliary device can be heardthrough the vehicle speakers or thewireless/wired headphones, whilethe radio is tuned to one of themany frequencies selected on theSound Around portion of thesystem’s remote control. See“Remote Control” later in thissection.

Only one audio source can be heardthrough the vehicle’s speakers at atime. The audio source being used



is specified by the A/V (audio/video)source selected on the driver sidehead restraint video display screen.

To turn the RSE system audiooutput to the vehicle’s speakers,press Sound Around ON, on thesystem’s remote control. The audiofrom the RSE system can be heardthrough the wireless/wiredheadphones and the vehicle’sspeakers at the same time. Thevolume on the radio can vary whenswitching between the radio, CD,DVD, MP3, or an auxiliary device.

Wired Headphones

VOL0 (Volume) : Use to adjustthe volume on the headphones.

100 Channel FM-ModulationControl

For Monitor “A” Only:

To activate the FM modulationfeature, press the “Sound AroundOn/Off” button on the remote untilthe text “FM CH XX.XMH2” isdislpayed on the monitor.

On the remote, press the “SoundAround Select” button to cyclethrough a pre-established list of 6channels (88.3MHz, 88.7MHz,89.1MHz, 89.5MHz, 89.9MHz,90.3MHz.)

If none of these stations are suitablefor FM Modulation, use the “FineTune” Option. To “Fine Tune” themodulator to a specific target stationwhile the display is active, press the“Up” or “Down” keys on the remoteto change the channel by 0.2MHz.Hold down the “Up or “Down” keysto cycle quickly through the stations.When the end (107.9MHz) orbeginning (87.5MHz) of the FMband is reached, the channels willcontinue from the beginning(87.5MHz) or end (107.9MHz),respectively.

To deactivate the FM modulationfeature, press the “Sound AroundOn/Off” button on the remote untilthe text “FM OFF” is displayed onthe monitor.

Caution

Do not store the headphones inheat or direct sunlight. This coulddamage the headphones andrepairs will not be covered by thewarranty. Storage in extreme coldcan weaken the batteries. Keepthe headphones stored in a cool,dry place.

Remote Control

To use the remote control, aim atthe remote sensor on top center ofthe video display screen and pressthe desired button.

Objects blocking the line of sightcan affect the function of the remotecontrol. Direct or very bright lightcan affect the ability of thetransmitter to receive signals fromthe remote control. If the remotecontrol does not seem to beworking, the batteries might need tobe replaced. See “BatteryReplacement” following this section.



The remote control provided withthe Headrest DVD RSE system isnot a universal remote control andwill not control other equipment.

Caution

Storing the remote control in a hotarea or in direct sunlight candamage it, and the repairs will notbe covered by the warranty.Storage in extreme cold canweaken the batteries. Keep theremote control stored in a cool,dry place.

Remote Control Buttons

POWER : Press to turn theHeadrest DVD RSE system onand off.

SOURCE : Press to select betweenMonitor 3, Monitor 4, or AV INPUT.Any video equipment connected tothe AV inputs automaticallyoverrides the source selection.

SETUP : Press to change thedefault settings. See “Using theRSE On-Screen Display (OSD)Menus” earlier in this manual. Thereare four main menu screens. Eachscreen displays a menu to selectdifferent setting options. Thescreens are:

1. General Setup — adjustsscreen settings.

2. Audio Setup — sets thelanguage.

3. Preference Screen — sets thesubtitles and parental controls.

4. Password Setup — allows apassword to be set.

Press SETUP again to exit.

MUTE > (For DVD Only) : Press toturn off the headphone sound. Pressagain to turn the sound on again.

PIX (Picture Selection) : Press toadjust the picture’s On ScreenDisplay (OSD). Each time thisbutton is pressed, the pictureadjustment OSD cycles throughbars for BRIGHTNESS,CONTRAST, COLOR, and TINT.Use the right/left navigation arrowsto adjust the setting. This featureautomatically shuts off if anotherbutton is pressed or adjustmentsare not made within six seconds.

SOUND AROUND SELECT : Pressto select an FM transmitter channel.The SOUND AROUND SELECTlets the DVD audio play over the

vehicle’s sound system by tuningthe radio to one of the many FMfrequencies.

MENU : Press to enter the DVDdisc menu while the disc is playing.

Q, R, q, r (Navigation Arrows) :Press to navigate through menus.

CH + (Channel) : Press to changethe channel to a higher level insequential order.

CH − (Channel) : Press to changethe channel to a lower level insequential order.

VOL + : Press to adjust the soundlouder.

VOL − : Press to adjust the soundlower.

ENTER : Press to enter a selectedfunction or to begin playback ofthe disc.

REPEAT7 : Press to repeat partor all of a chapter, title, track, or theentire disc after using the A-Bbutton to setup repeat presetsections.

TITLE : Press to enter the disc titlemode. The title feature isdisc-specific, and may not beavailable on all discs.

SUBTITLE : Press to change thesubtitle language to anotheravailable language or to turnsubtitles off.

ANGLE : Press to select a differentviewing angle for discs that arerecorded with different cameraangles.

AUDIO : Press to select a differentlanguage for discs that are recordedwith different languages.

0-9 (Numbers) : The numberslocated on the lower left side of theremote control can be used to enternumbered menu options, channels,or track numbers.

DISPLAY : Press to scroll throughdisplay information on the upper leftcorner of the screen, such as title,chapter/track, time elapsed, andtime remaining, or to turn off thedisplay

RANDOM : Press to play titlesrandomly.



PLAY/ r : Press to start playback ofthe disc.

PAUSE j : Press to pause playbackof a disc.

PREVg (Previous) : Press to playthe previous chapter or track. Toreturn to previous chapters or tracksone at a time, press and releasemultiple times until the desiredchapter or track is reached.

NEXTd : Press to play the nextchapter or track. To go to the nextchapter or track one at a time, pressand release multiple times until thedesired chapter or track is reached.

Battery Replacement

To change batteries in the remotecontrol:

1. Turn the remote controlface down.

2. Press down on the ridged areaof the battery cover and slideit off.

3. Install two AAA batteries intothe battery compartment.

4. Slide the cover back on until itclicks.

If the remote control is to be storedfor a long period of time, remove thebatteries and keep it in a cool, dryplace.

Playing Audio CD

When an audio CD is playing, thedisplay shows the current track andthe amount of time that track hasbeen playing, the total amount oftime on the disc, and the currenttime running on the disc.

DISPLAY : Press to choose fromthe following display options:

1. Press DISPLAY once andSingle Elapsed appears alongwith the current track playingand the length of time for thattrack.

2. Press DISPLAY twice andSingle Remain appears alongwith the current track playingand the amount of time left onthe track.

3. Press DISPLAY three timesand Total Elapsed appearsalong with the current trackplaying and the total time thathas played on the CD.



4. Press DISPLAY four times andTotal Remain appears alongwith the current track playingand the amount of time left onthe CD.

REPEAT : Press to toggle betweenTrack and All. The default for repeatis OFF.

. Track repeats the track that isplaying.

. All repeats the disc that isplaying.

Playing MP3 CD

MP3 is the format for storing digitalaudio. An audio CD quality songcan be compressed into the MP3format with very little loss of quality,while taking up much less space.CD-R/RW discs that have beenencoded in MP3 format can beplayed on the DVD player.

Selecting Folders and Songs

When an MP3 disc is inserted in theplayer, the navigation screenappears. The folders and songs canbe changed by navigating through

the file system. The DVD playerplays the songs in the order theywere burned to the disc.

1. Press STOP if a disc isplaying. Press the up or downnavigation arrows on theremote control to go throughthe folder list on the left side ofthe screen.

2. Press ENTER when thedesired folder is highlighted.

3. Press the up or downnavigation arrows to gothrough the song list andhighlight the desired song.Press ENTER to begin theplayback of the selected song.

Skipping a Song

NEXT : Press to go to thenext song.

PREV (Previous) : Press to returnto the beginning of the song that iscurrently playing. Press PREV twiceto go to the previous song.

Selecting a Play Mode

The order the songs are played canbe temporarily chosen on a disc.The FOLDER play mode is thedefault. Press the REPEAT button toaccess the play mode options.

The play mode options are:

. Single — Play a selected song.

. Folder — Play the folder in theorder the songs were recorded.

. Shuffle — Play the songs inrandom order, from within theselected folder.

Using the REPEAT Feature

REPEAT : Press to change betweenRepeat One and Repeat Folder.

. Repeat One — Repeats thesong that is playing.

. Repeat Folder — Repeats thefolder that is playing.

Tips and Troubleshooting

IR Sensor Inoperative : Check thatthe batteries are good in the remotecontrol. Check that the remoteControl IR Sensor is not blocked.



Aim the remote control toward theIR Sensor being controlled. Selectthe correct screen, 3 or 4.

No picture : Check that the correctvideo input mode is selected. Checkthat the video cable is plugged intothe jack securely.

No Sound : Check that the correctaudio input mode is selected. Checkthat the audio cable is securelyplugged into the jack.

Cleaning the Video Screens

The video display screens are madeof a specially coated glass and canbe scratched or damaged byabrasive products, solvents,or ammonia-based windowcleaners. Clean with a soft, lint-free,cotton cloth that has been slightlydampened with warm water. Dry thescreens by wiping with a clean drycotton cloth.

Cleaning the Components

Use care when touching or cleaningthe components such as the DVDplayer or the discs.

Do not use DVD lens cleaners forDVD players because the lens ofthe DVD optics can becomecontaminated by lubricants.

Handle CDs and DVDs carefully.Store them in their original cases orother protective cases and awayfrom direct sunlight and dust. TheDVD player scans the bottomsurface of the disc. If the surface ofa CD or DVD is damaged, such ascracked, broken, or scratched, theCD or DVD may not play properly ornot at all. If the surface of a CD orDVD is soiled, take a soft, lint freecloth or dampen a clean, soft clothin a mild, neutral detergent solutionmixed with water, and clean it. Makesure the wiping process starts fromthe center to the edge.

Do not touch the bottom side of aCD or DVD while handling it; thiscould damage the surface. Pick upCDs or DVDs by grasping the outeredges or the edge of the hole andthe outer edge.

Using the NavigationSystemTouch the NAV button on the HomePage or the NAV icon in theapplications tray to access thenavigation application.

Touch MENU from the map view toaccess the Navigation Menu.Features displayed in theNavigation Menu can be selected toadjust navigation preferences.

To exit out of a list, touch the EXITscreen button in the top right cornerof the map to return to the mainmap view.

As the volume of the voice guidanceis being adjusted, a quick status bardisplays, showing the volumesetting.

Prompts During Phone Calls

When enabled, the system plays ashorter prompt while on a phonecall. This setting can be configuredas to whether a prompt would beheard during a phone conversation.

When this setting is OFF, only theshort alert tone is played whenapproaching the maneuver.

Current Location

Display Places of Interest Icons

Places of Interest (POI) icons canbe displayed on the map usingthis view.

. The POI icons can be turned ONand OFF. Touch the check boxnext to the POI icon to displaythe icon.

. Touch Clear All to reset theicons that are displayed onthe map.

. A subcategory can be selectedinstead of the entire category.Touch the list item itself ratherthan the check box. Thesubcategories will display. Selectany of those categories tonavigate down the hierarchy.

. When a higher-level categoryhas some of its subcategoriesselected, the checkmark next toit is grayed out. This indicatesthat only some of the categoriesbelow are shown. Touch thegrayed-out checkmark to turn allof the icons for that category onor off.

Map View

Touch to select the desired mapview. A checkmark appears toindicate a view has been selected.

3D View

The 3D View is a Heading Up Viewbut it includes perspective. Mapitems will appear larger as thevehicle comes closer.

Heading Up View

The Heading Up View keeps thevehicle's current heading at the topof the view. The vehicle icon alwaysfaces the top of the view as the maprotates.

North Up View

The North Up View keeps north atthe top of the view. The vehicle iconis placed in the center of the viewand rotates to indicate the headingfor the vehicle.

Audio Information On/Off

Touch to turn the audio informationview on or off from the mainmap view.

The audio status screen containsthe following elements:

. Automatic: Adjusts the screenbackground automaticallydepending on the exteriorlighting conditions.

Routing Preferences

Touch the Routing Preferences listitem to access the RoutingPreferences menu. Options on howthe routes are created for routeguidance are listed on this menu.

Route Style

Touch this list item to change theroute type preferences.

The options are:

. Fast (default)

. Eco Friendly (if equipped)

. Short

. Configure Eco Profile

The Edit Eco Profile can be used toconfigure two parameters for theEco Friendly route. Theseparameters are roof load and trailer.For each parameter, the options areNone, Small, Medium, and Large.Touch to scroll through the list. Thedefault for both is None.

These preferences are used for allroutes generated.

Route segment preferences areother options showing on theRouting Preferences menu.

These include:

Traffic (If Equipped)

Touch to browse the traffic in thearea as well as adjust the trafficsettings. Where traffic information isavailable, it is displayed on the map.

Where live traffic flow data isavailable, it is displayed as a solidline adjacent to the road. The roadis displayed in colors to show theflow rate as:

. Black – Stopped or Closed

. Red – Poor

. Yellow – Slow

. Green – Normal

There are several options on theTraffic menu:

. Show Nearby Traffic Incidents

1. Touch Show Nearby TrafficIncidents to access the TrafficList menu. This menu displaysthe incident symbol andhighway name, along with thedistance and heading to theincident.

2. Touch on the incident to displayadditional details about theincident as well as an option toavoid that particular incident ifit is along the current route.

Traffic Routing Preferences

The system can be configured as tohow it reacts when receiving trafficinformation. Touch Traffic RoutingPreferences to access the TrafficRouting menu.

When this setting is OFF, thesystem will never take trafficconditions into account whencreating routes. In addition, the twooptions below are grayed out. If oneof the grayed-out options istouched, it automatically turns thetraffic avoidance feature ON andperforms the desired selection.

The two options, Ask Me BeforeAvoiding and Automatically AvoidTraffic, will adjust the system asfollows:

. If the Automatically Avoid Trafficlist item is touched, the systemwill automatically adjust theroute based on traffic withoutnotifying the driver.

. If the Ask Me Before Avoidinglist item is touched, the systemwill always use Alerts to showwhen there is an incident andallow it to be avoided bytouching the avoid button.

If the Traffic list item is touched fromthe Map Menu and Traffic is notavailable because the SiriusXMsubscription is not valid, a pop-up

will display with information on howto reactivate the subscription alongwith the SiriusXM radio ID.

Traffic Types

Touch to access the TrafficTypes menu.

The system can be configured tofilter out certain types of trafficevents. If a particular type has beenturned off, the system does notdisplay it on the map, and does notalert the driver.

Upload Saved Locations: Touch toupload any saved locations such asdownloaded POIs and all entries inthe vehicle address book to theUSB device.

. Touch Upload Saved Locationsto save the Vehicle Contacts listand any My POIs that have beensaved to the vehicle.

. Once saved locations have beenuploaded to a USB, they can betransferred to a different vehicleor restored to the currentaddress book.

Map Adjustments

ZOOM −/+ can be used to adjustthe scale of view on the map. Whenthe end of the zoom level isreached, ZOOM −/+ will gray out.

Use the pinch/spread hand gestureto zoom the scale of view onthe map.

. ZOOM − (minus): Pinch fingerstogether to zoom out.

. ZOOM + (plus): Spread fingersapart to zoom in.

The zoom scales can be configuredfor English or metric units. Tochange from English to metric, see“Instrument Cluster” in the ownermanual.

Scroll Features

. To scroll within the map, touchanywhere on the map screen.

. Nudge or slide a finger on themap; the map moves in thedirection of the finger.

. Fling a finger on the map; themap will start scrolling in a shortcontinuous scroll.

. Touch a finger on the location onthe map; the map recenters tothe location that wastouched on.

. Touch a finger twice on alocation on the map; the mapzooms in one level to thelocation that was touchedtwice on.

. When the map is recenteredaway from being locked to thevehicle position, the crosshairswill show in the center of themap. As the map continues tobe recentered, the crosshairswill remain on the screen. Whenthe crosshairs are shown on thescreen, a callout with moreinformation displays. If the mapis moved from the currentlocation, the crosshairs willdisappear along with the callout.

. Touch a finger on the calloutnext to the crosshairs and thedestination details view displays.From this view, route guidancecan be received or saved to thevehicle's contact list.

. When the map is recentered, thestraight-line distance from thevehicle to the selected point isdisplayed in the callout. Inaddition, a heading direction inthe form of an arrow is displayedto indicate the direction. Thearrow is shown in relation to thecurrent vehicle heading.

. Touch a finger on a POI iconshown on the map; the name ofthe POI is shown in the addresscallout, along with the city nameand state. If the callout isselected, the destination detailsview for the POI is shown.

. After panning the map awayfrom the vehicle, touch RESETto return the map to the currentposition.

. Touch the Overview button toquickly get a view of the entireroute. The route Overview buttontakes the place of the RESETbutton while under routeguidance. Touch the RESETbutton to return the map to thecurrent position.

MapsThe map database is stored in theinternal flash memory that is used inthe navigation system.

Detailed Areas

Road network attributes arecontained in the map database fordetailed areas. Attributes includeinformation such as street names,street addresses, and turnrestrictions. A detailed area includesall major highways, service roads,and residential roads. The detailedareas include Places of Interest(POIs) such as restaurants, airports,banks, hospitals, police stations,gas stations, tourist attractions, andhistorical monuments. The mapdatabase may not include data fornewly constructed areas or mapdatabase corrections that arecompleted after production. Thenavigation system provides fullroute guidance in the detailed mapareas.

Navigation SymbolsFollowing are the most commonsymbols that appear on a mapscreen.

The symbol indicates the currentposition and heading direction of thevehicle on the map. When underroute guidance, a circle with anarrow is added to the symbol whichindicates the direction to thedestination.

Vehicle Address Callout

Tap on the vehicle icon to overlaythe current address of the vehiclenext to the vehicle icon in a callout.Tap again to tap hide theinformation on the map.

Any address information about thevehicle’s current location will beshown, including the street, city, andstate names.

Tap on this callout to save thecurrent address to the vehicleaddress book.

The destination symbol marks thefinal destination after a route hasbeen planned.

The waypoint symbol marks one ormore set waypoints.

A waypoint is a stopover destinationpoint added to the planned route.

The estimated time to thedestination displays. Touch theArrival button to toggle to durationand to the distance of thedestination.

This symbol indicates therecommended maneuver thatshould be performed. Touch it todisplay the turn list or waypoint list.

The No GPS symbol appears whenthere is no Global PositioningSystem (GPS) satellite signal. Whenthe GPS is gone, the vehicleposition on the map may not beaccurate.

Autozoom

As a maneuver is beingapproached, the map automaticallyzooms in to give greater detail.

If lane guidance is available for themaneuver, this is also shown.

When the system begins toautozoom, it zooms in to itsminimum level. After the maneuveris performed, the system slowlyzooms back out.

DestinationIf route guidance is not active, touchthe NAV screen button on the HomePage to access the map view.Touch the Destination icon from themap view to enter a destination.Available methods of entering adestination are Voice Recognition,Address, Recent Destinations,Contacts, and POIs. Several optionscan be selected to plan a route.Some destination items may begrayed out if no destination waspreviously entered or saved.

Another way to enter a destinationis to connect to the OnStar® systemand ask an OnStar Advisor todownload a destination into theembedded navigation system. SeeOnStar® System 0 80.

Navigation Next Turn ManeuverAlert

The navigation system may need toget the attention of the driver incertain situations.

If not in the navigation applicationwhen a near maneuver prompt isgiven, it is shown as an alert. Thealert contains the turn indicator andbutton to display the mainnavigation view or dismiss the alert.

The alert also contains the name ofthe street to turn on and acountdown bar.

Alpha-Numeric Keyboard

The keyboard is used in multiplelocations throughout the system andcan be used with many features.The navigation system uses the

alpha-numeric system keyboardwhich includes 1 through 0, Athrough Z in QWERTY layout,hyphen, comma, period, Space, andSym which would show additionalcharacters needed.

The keyboard can also be modifiedto include characters appropriate forthe region configured in the vehiclesettings.

@ GO : Touch to search for thedestination details of an address orplace of interest entered in the textfield. Once the@ GO screenbutton is touched, the activityindicator displays in the list ofpossible matches.

| (Dropdown Arrow) : Touch todisplay a list of matches.

When there are multiple matches, adropdown arrow is shown after theautocomplete text. This dropdowndisplays an entire list of matches.Touch the appropriate match withouthaving to enter more text.

z (Delete) : Touch to delete the lasttyped character. Touch and hold thisscreen button to clear the entire text

field. If the entire text field has beendeleted, this screen button becomesan Undo button. Touching Undo willrestore the deleted text.

EXIT : Touch to return to theprevious Map view.

Sym : Touch to show the symbolkeyboard.

Space : Touch to enter a spacebetween characters or the words ofa name.

Q (Up Arrow) : Touch to display theInteraction Selector.

E : Touch to switch betweenAlpha-Numeric Keyboard andCharacter Recognition.

Special Characters

As the characters are typed on thekeyboard, a pop-up of the lettertouched displays above the key thatwas touched.

Continue to touch and hold, and anyadditional special charactersassociated with that letter aredisplayed around the current letter.To select one of the special

characters, slide a finger left or rightto adjust the highlight of the specialcharacter.

Special Character List

The following characters havespecial characters beneath them:

Character HandwritingRecognition

Character handwriting recognition isoffered as an alternative to using akeyboard. This character inputmethod allows the drawing out ofcharacters instead of picking themout from the keyboard. Characterhandwriting recognition has twomain modes, Upper Case andMixed Case. The Upper case modeis used for Destination Entry whileMixed Case is used for all other

character entry modes. This featureis available by touching the globebutton from the keyboard screen.

The Handwriting Recognition screenis split into different zones:

. Drawing Pad

. Prioritized Guess List

. Character Entry

. Drawing Pad: This is the areato draw a character. Draw acharacter in the display area.

When the first character iscomplete, a representation ofthat character can be seen, andthere is an audible response.If the character is correct, thenext character can be startedimmediately.

‐ To delete the last enteredcharacter, draw a line from leftto right across the characterfield.

‐ To create a space, draw a linefrom right to left across thecharacter field.

. Prioritized Guess List: Thisarea displays a list of guessesfor the character drawn.If character recognition displaysthe incorrect character, look atthis list and see if the desiredcharacter is available to select.Scroll up or down the list, thenhighlight the desired character.Selecting a character from thelist will replace the incorrectcharacter with the desiredcharacter. The character isdisplayed in the character entrysection of the screen.

. Character Entry: This is thearea across the top of thescreen. This section can lookdifferent depending on whichfeature is being used.

Option Settings

This section is an area on the rightside of the Character Recognitionscreen. This section will only lookdifferent if the characters displayedon the screen are in upper case ormixed case.

. k (Draw Speed Setting):Select from the touch screen.The draw speed setting willadjust the speed of the characterrecognition feature. The settingsare: Faster, Default, and Slower.

. Audio Feedback: Touch to turnAudio Feedback On or Off.

Audio feedback is an audibleresponse to an action that hasoccurred while using theCharacter Recognition.

. ABC/abc (Character Set):Select from the touch screen toview the available charactersets. Select a character set tochange. Multiple character setsmay not be supported by someregions. This button alsodisplays the sentence case ofupper or lower case charactersthat are currently active in amixed case mode. If only onecharacter set is available for thedesired region, touching thecharacter recognition will onlyopen and close the characterrecognition window.

If mixed case character mode issupported, the last buttons ofcharacter recognition will beupper and lower case.

Creating and DownloadingPredefined POIs (My POIs)

In addition to the POIs alreadystored in the infotainment system,predefined POIs can be created.

While creating a predefined POI, theGPS coordinates for longitude andlatitude of the POI’s location and adescriptive name will need to beentered.

After creating the predefined POIs,they can be downloaded to theinfotainment system from either aUSB stick or SD card.

Once downloaded, the POI databecomes a selectable destination inthe My POIs menu.

Creating a Text File withInformation

Create a text file by using a simpletext editor software. Save this filewith a name and extension of .csv,for example, “TomsPOI.csv.”

Enter the POI information into thetext file in the following format:

. Longitude coordinate, Latitudecoordinate, “Name of POI,”“Additional information,” “Phonenumber.”

Example: 7.0350000,50.6318040, “Michaels Home,”“123 Maple Lane,”“02379234567.”

. The GPS coordinates must beexpressed in decimal degreesand can be taken from ageographical map. Theadditional information and phonenumber strings are optional.

. The POI name and theadditional information string maynot exceed 60 characters.

. POI information for eachdestination address must beentered in a single separate line.

Storing the POI on a USB Drive

In the root directory of a USB drive,create a folder name “myPOIs”; forexample, “F:\” is the root directory ofthe USB drive.

In the “myPOIs” folder, store the textfile with your POIs; for example, “F:\myPOIs\TomsPOIs.csv.”

Downloading the POI to theInfotainment System

Connect the USB drive or SD cardcontaining the POI information tothe USB port or SD card slot of theinfotainment system. A messagedisplays prompting whether or not todownload the POI information fromthe USB stick. All POIs found aresaved even if they are in multiplefolders.

Subfolders can also be created toorganize the POIs into categories;for example, “F:\myPOIs\Restaurants\TomsPOIs.csv.”

If the message is dismissed orignored, no POI information isdownloaded. This prompt will notreoccur for the current ignition cycle.

When the system is finisheddownloading, a pop-up displaysasking to specify a category for thenew POIs, if desired.

Importing and OverwritingCategories

When POIs are found on a mediadevice, the date of the file isexamined and compared to the datefor the files already in the system.If the file being downloaded isnewer than the one in the system,that particular category of POIs is

overwritten. Any other POIs that hadpreviously been saved in othercategories are not affected.

Address Book Download

If an Address Book is found on theconnected USB device, the samealert is used to indicate thatlocations have been found and theycan be downloaded. If there isalready content in the vehicleAddress Book, the system promptsif the stored content should beoverwritten. Select Save tooverwrite the existing Address Bookinformation. Select Cancel to abortthe import of information.

Browsing Downloaded POIs

Access the downloaded POIs byselecting the My POIs list item in thePOIs list.

Edit My POIs

Downloaded POIs can be edited ata category level. These POIs caneither be deleted as an entirecategory or reassigned as anothercategory. To edit the categories:

. Select the EDIT button at themain category view to edit thePOIs. EDIT buttons display nextto each category name. There isno POI browsing in this mode;only edit functions are available.

. Once an action such as deletingor reassigning has beenselected, the changes are savedimmediately.

Changing POI Categories

POI categories can be assigned to adifferent category by using the samemethod as assigning a category foran Address Book entry. Whenediting, the right side of the screendisplays the current category name.

Deleting POI

POI categories can be deleted byselecting Edit and then Delete.A pop-up displays to confirm thedeletion.

Saved Destinations

Select a saved destination from theContacts or Recent Destinations.

Contacts

Select the Contacts button to viewthe vehicle’s contact list or aconnected Bluetooth device. Touchthe Change Contacts List screenbutton to switch between thevehicle’s contact list and theBluetooth device’s contact list. If aparticular contact has a singleaddress associated with it, thatcontact has a Quick Route list itemfunction button next to it. Contactswithout this Quick Route buttoneither have multiple addresses or noaddress at all. Press the QuickRoute button to go to theDestination Details view.

Touch on an address, either fromthe Quick Route on the contact listor a specific address from the

contact detail list, to go to thedestination view showing thataddress on the map.

Trips from Contacts can be savedand recalled. The order is based onwhen the trip was last used. Whenthe trips are saved, they are given adefault title of the final destinationname. If there are no saved trips,this list item is hidden.

Favorite Destinations

. Destinations can be saved asFavorites for recall later.Depending on the favorite, whenan address or POI favorite isrecalled, the Destination DetailsView is shown.

. When a favorite address is beingrouted to, it is shown active.Touch on the active favorite tosuspend that route.

. Save locations as Favorites forrecall later in the DestinationDetails View.

. Save trips from theAddress Book.

Storing Favorites from the ContactDetails List

A contact name or any of thecontact’s information such as phonenumber, e-mail address, or addressfrom Contact Details can be storedas a Favorite.

. Touch and drag up on the row ofInteraction Selector buttons toreveal the Favorite buttons.

. Touch and hold on the favoritelocation while viewing a contacton the Contact Details List. Thecontact name and all contactinformation can be stored.

. Touch to save as a favorite. Thefavorite label will be the name ofthe contact.

. Touch on the Favorite to displaythe destination view.

Storing Favorites from Map

Favorite locations can be storedfrom the Map View.

If not under route guidance, thecurrent vehicle location will besaved as a Favorite. If under routeguidance, the final destination willbe saved.

Touch and drag up on the row ofInteraction Selector buttons toreveal the Favorite buttons. Touchand hold on the favorite locationfrom the Map View to save it.

Route Guidance

. Touch GO to go to the mainnavigation view and to startroute guidance.

. If the system has an activeroute, a pop-up will display,“What would you like to do withthis destination?” The optionsare: Add As Waypoint, Set NewDestination, or Cancel.

. If a waypoint is added, it isplaced in the location that leadsto the most efficient route.

. There is a maximum number ofwaypoints that can be added tothe system. When the maximumnumber of waypoints has beenreached, a pop-up displaysindicating that a waypoint must

first be deleted before a new onecan be added. The system willhold this waypoint into aPending Waypoints list and willautomatically be added to theroute once a position isavailable, either by arriving at awaypoint, or by deleting one.

. To save a location, tap on the Qto display the Favorite buttons.Touch and hold on a favoritelocation to save the shownlocation as a Favorite.

Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)and Distance

. When under route guidance, thesystem shows the ETA or traveltime, or the driving distance.

. The ETA and travel time arecalculated using any availabletraffic information.

. If in a waypoint trip, the ETA,travel time, and driving distanceare all shown relative to the finaldestination.

. The final ETA is shown takinginto consideration any time zonecrossings that the route hastraveled through.

. Touch the ETA information areato switch between the estimatedarrival time, total driving timeresulting, and driving distance.

Turn List

Touch on the next turn indicatorshown on the map to display theturn list or waypoint list. TheInteraction Selector is minimizedautomatically. Touch Q to reveal thefollowing options:

Destination

Touch the Destination screen buttonto add a waypoint or change thedestination while viewing the turnlist. When the Destination screenbutton is touched, the display showsthe Destination screens.

End Guidance

Touch the End screen button tosuspend the current route in the turnlist. When the End screen button is

touched, the turn list is exited andthe display returns to the mainmap view.

Avoid Areas

Touch the Avoid Areas screenbutton to select the highway namethat is to be avoided. The systemshows a pop-up asking how manymiles or if the entire road should beavoided.

Turn List

. When under a waypoint trip,touch on the Turn List InteractionSelector button to show the turnlist. When entering a turn list, thenext maneuver instruction isspoken.

. The turn list title is the name oraddress of the destination.Touch on the information buttonnext to the name of thedestination to display thedestination information.

. The turn list is sorted in orderwith the next maneuver at thetop of the list and thesubsequent maneuvers listedbelow it. The next maneuver isalways highlighted upon entryinto the Turn List to quickly showwhat the next maneuver is.

. Each maneuver indicates thedistance between it and theprevious maneuver or thevehicle’s current location. Thenext maneuver at the top willcount down until the maneuveris reached, and then the nextmaneuver will begin tocount down.

. Each maneuver has anestimated time of arrival basedon the current driving conditions.

Saved Trips

Waypoint trips can be saved forlater recall. Touch the Add button inthe waypoints list to save the trip tothe Saved Trips list in the vehicle’scontacts list. When trips are saved,they are given a default title of thefinal destination. Saved trips can beedited by selecting the Edit list itembutton to access the edit screen forthe saved entry. The only field thatcan be edited is the name field.Touch on the name field to accessthe keyboard view. Type the namechange. This change isautomatically saved when executedby the keyboard.

The saved trip can also be deletedfrom the edit mode. Touch thedelete button and a deleteconfirmation pop-up will display.

Waypoints

. When under a waypoint trip,touch on the next turn indicatorto bring up the waypoint list. Thelast waypoint view is shown,which could be Waypoints, TurnList, or Edit.

. The waypoint list is sorted inorder with the next waypoint atthe top of the list. Each waypointis indicated with a numberedicon, starting with the nextwaypoint.

. To indicate what segment of theroute is for the next waypoint,and what is for the remainder ofthe route, they appear indifferent colors.

Optimized Route

. Touch the Optimize screenbutton to optimize the currentwaypoint trip.

. The optimization is doneaccording to how thepreferences are set for newroutes; for example, fastestroute, shortest distance, or ecofriendly.

. While the system is optimizingthe route, the waypoint trip hasthe activity indicator displayedover top of it. If the system iscalculating the ETA and traveldistance for a waypoint, theactivity indicator is displayed inthe list header.

. If a destination is alreadyplanned and a waypoint isadded, it is either added before

or after the current destination,whichever leads to the mostoptimal route.

. If under an existing waypoint tripconsisting of two or moredestinations, any additionalwaypoints are added in thelocation that would lead to themost optimal route.

Edit Route

. Touch the Edit screen button tomodify the order or remove awaypoint from the route. Touchthe delete screen button toremove a waypoint from theroute.

. A pop-up displays asking forconfirmation of the waypointdeletion.

OnStar® SystemWith an OnStar® subscription, anOnStar Advisor can download adestination to the vehicle or into thebuilt-in navigation system. If anOnStar Turn-by-Turn route is in

No Active Route

There is no active route if:

. The vehicle does not have abuilt-in navigation system andthe navigation application isselected from the Home screen.

. If the system receives theindication that there is an activeOnStar subscription, the helptext is displayed with instructionson how to set up a route.

Cancel a Route

If a route is in progress using eitherthe vehicle navigation system or theOnStar Turn-by-Turn route, and anew route is requested, the currentroute in progress will be canceled.

An OnStar Advisor can cancel thevehicle navigation system route.Route guidance can be resumed byselecting the Resume To screenbutton in the Map Menu.

Settings

Touch SETTINGS on the HomePage to adjust features andpreferences, such as Time andDate, Sport Mode, Language, ValetMode, or Radio. For setting options,see Settings 0 101.

A few of the setting options changethe way the navigation systemdisplays or reacts while in use.

1. Touch the SETTINGS screenbutton on the Home Page.

2. Touch the scroll bar until thedesired option displays. Selectthe desired settings to change.

Voice

Low Fuel Alert

If the vehicle reaches a low fuellevel, the system displays an alertabout the low fuel condition. Touch

the More Info screen button to viewnearby gas stations and startguidance, if desired.

If the remaining driving distance isavailable from the system, this isincluded in the alert.

Global PositioningSystem (GPS)The position of the vehicle isdetermined by using satellitesignals, various vehicle signals, andmap data.

At times, other interference such asthe satellite condition, roadconfiguration, condition of thevehicle, and/or other circumstances

can affect the navigation system'sability to determine the accurateposition of the vehicle.

The GPS shows the current positionof the vehicle using signals sent byGPS satellites. When the vehicle isnot receiving signals from thesatellites, a symbol appears on themap screen. See NavigationSymbols 0 70.

This system might not be availableor interference can occur if any ofthe following are true:

. Signals are obstructed by tallbuildings, trees, large trucks,or a tunnel.

. Satellites are being repaired orimproved.

Vehicle PositioningAt times, the position of the vehicleon the map could be inaccurate dueto one or more of the followingreasons:

. The road system has changed.

. The vehicle is driving on slipperyroad surfaces such as sand,gravel, or snow.

. The vehicle is traveling onwinding roads or long, straightroads.

. The vehicle is approaching a tallbuilding or a large vehicle.

. The surface streets run parallelto a freeway.

. The vehicle has been transferredby a vehicle carrier or a ferry.

. The current position calibrationis set incorrectly.

. The vehicle is traveling at highspeed.

. The vehicle changes directionsmore than once, or the vehicle isturning on a turn table in aparking lot.

. The vehicle is entering and/orexiting a parking lot, garage, or alot with a roof.

. The GPS signal is not received.

. A roof carrier is installed on thevehicle.

. Tire chains have been installed.

. The tires are replaced or worn.

. The tire pressure for the tires isincorrect.

. This is the first navigation useafter the map data is updated.

. The 12-volt battery has beendisconnected for several days.

. The vehicle is driving in heavytraffic where driving is at lowspeeds, and the vehicle isstopped and started repeatedly.

Problems with RouteGuidanceInappropriate route guidance canoccur under one or more of thefollowing conditions:

. The turn was not made on theroad indicated.

. Route guidance might not beavailable when using automaticrerouting for the next right orleft turn.

. The route might not be changedwhen using automatic rerouting.

. There is no route guidance whenturning at an intersection.

. Plural names of places might beannounced occasionally.

. It could take a long time tooperate automatic reroutingduring high-speed driving.

. Automatic rerouting mightdisplay a route returning to theset waypoint if heading for adestination without passingthrough a set waypoint.

. The route prohibits the entry of avehicle due to a regulation bytime or season or any otherregulation which may be given.

. Some routes might not besearched.

. The route to the destinationmight not be shown if there arenew roads, if roads have

recently changed, or if certainroads are not listed in the mapdata. See Maps 0 69.

To recalibrate the vehicle's positionon the map, park with the vehiclerunning for two to five minutes, untilthe vehicle position updates. Makesure the vehicle is parked in alocation that is safe and has a clearview of the sky and away from largeobstructions.

If the System NeedsServiceIf the navigation system needsservice and the steps listed herehave been followed but there arestill problems, see Problems withRoute Guidance 0 84.

Map Data UpdatesThe map data in the vehicle is themost up-to-date informationavailable when the vehicle wasproduced. The map data is updatedperiodically, provided that the mapinformation has changed.

Database CoverageExplanationsCoverage areas vary with respect tothe level of map detail available forany given area. Some areas featuregreater levels of detail than others.If this happens, it does not meanthere is a problem with the system.As the map data is updated, moredetail can become available forareas that previously had limiteddetail. See Map Data Updates 0 85.


86 Voice Recognition

Voice RecognitionVoice recognition allows forhands-free operation within thenavigation, audio, phone, andweather applications. This featurecan be started by pressing eitherthe g button on the steering wheel

or touch g on the touchscreendisplay.

However, not all features withinthese areas are supported by voicecommands. Generally, only complextasks that require multiple manualinteractions to complete aresupported by voice commands.

For example, tasks that take morethan one or two button presses suchas selecting a song or artist to playfrom a media device would besupported by voice commands.Other tasks, like adjusting thevolume or seeking up or down, areaudio features that are easilyperformed by pressing one or twobuttons, and are not supported byvoice commands.

Voice recognition can be used whenthe ignition is on or when RetainedAccessory Power (RAP) is active.See “Retained Accessory Power(RAP)” in the owner manual.

Using Voice Recognition

Voice recognition becomes availableonce the system has beeninitialized. This begins when theignition is turned on. Initializationmay take a few moments.

1. Press g on the steering wheelcontrol to activate voicerecognition, or touch g on theinfotainment touchscreen onthe center stack.

2. The audio system mutes andthe system plays a promptfollowed by a beep.

3. Wait until after the beepcompletes, then clearly speakone of the commandsdescribed in this section.

A voice recognition systemprompt can be interrupted whileit is playing by pressing gagain.

For example, if the promptseems to be taking too long tofinish, press g again and thebeep should happenright away.

There are two voice prompt modessupported:

. Long verbal prompts: The longerprompts provide moreinformation regarding thesupported actions.

. Short prompts: The shortprompts provide simpleinstructions about what can bestated.

If a command is not spoken, thevoice recognition system says ahelp prompt.

Prompts and Screen Displays

While a voice recognition session isactive, there will be correspondingbuttons on screens displayed.Manual interaction in the voicerecognition session is permitted.Interaction during a voice sessionmay be completed entirely usingvoice commands, or someselections may expedite a session.

If a selection is made using amanual control, the dialog willprogress in the same way as if theselection was made through a voicecommand. Once the system is ableto complete the task, or the sessionis terminated, the voice recognitiondialog stops.

An example of this type of manualintervention is pressing on an entryof a displayed number list instead ofspeaking the number associatedwith the entry desired.

Canceling Voice Recognition. Press the Home screen button.

Pressing this button willterminate the voice recognitionsession.

. Press or say “Cancel” or “Exit” toterminate the voice recognitionsession and display the screenfrom which voice recognitionwas initiated.

. Pressi on the steering wheelcontrols to terminate the voicesession and display the screenfrom which voice recognitionwas initiated.

Most languages do not supportnatural language commands insentence form. For thoselanguages, use direct commandslike the examples shown on thedisplay.

Helpful Hints for SpeakingCommands

Voice recognition can understandcommands that are either naturallystated in sentence form or directcommands that state the applicationand the task.

For best results:

. Listen for the prompt and waitfor the beep before saying acommand or reply.

. Say “Help” or look at the screendisplay for example commands.

. A voice recognition systemprompt can be interrupted whileit is playing by pressing g again.

For example, if the promptseems to be taking too long tofinish, to speak the command

without waiting for the prompt tocomplete, press g again andwait for the beep.

. Speak the command naturally,not too fast, not too slow. Usedirect commands without a lot ofextra words.

. Usually Phone and Audiocommands can be spoken in asingle command.

For example, “Call Dave Smithat work,” “Play” followed by theartist or song name, or “Tune”followed by the radio stationnumber.

. Navigation destinations are toocomplex for a single command.First, state a command thatexplains the type of destinationneeded, such as I wantdirections to an “Address,”“Navigate to an intersection,” “Ineed to find a Place of Interestor POI,” or “Directions to aContact.” The system respondswith requesting more details.After saying “Place of Interest,”only major chains are availableby name. Chains are businesses



with at least 20 locations. Forother POIs, say the name of acategory like “Restaurants,”“Shopping Malls,” or “Hospitals.”

Most languages do not supportnatural language commands insentence form. For thoselanguages, use direct commandslike the examples shown on thedisplay.

There is no need to memorizespecific command words. Directcommands might be more clearlyunderstood by the system. Anexample of a direct command wouldbe “Call 555-1212.” Examples ofthese direct commands aredisplayed on most of the screenswhile a voice session is active.If “Phone” or “Phone Commands,” isstated, the system understands thata phone call is requested and willrespond with questions until enoughdetails are gathered.

If the phone number has beensaved with a name and a place, thedirect command should includeboth, for example “Call Dave Smithat work.”

Using Voice Recognition forList Options

When a list is displayed, a voiceprompt will ask to confirm or selectan option from that list. A selectioncan be made by manually selectingthe item, or by speaking the linenumber for the item to select.

When a screen contains a list, theremay be options that are availablebut not displayed. The list on avoice recognition screen functionsthe same as a list on other screens.Scrolling or flinging can be used tohelp display other entries fromthe list.

Manually scrolling or paging the liston a screen during a voicerecognition session suspends thecurrent voice recognition event andplays the prompt “Make yourselection from the list using themanual controls, touch the Backscreen button to try again.”

If manual selection takes more than15 seconds, the session terminatesand prompts that it has timed out.

The screen returns back to thescreen where voice recognition wasinitiated.

The Back Command

Say “Back” or touch the Backscreen button to go to the previousscreen.

If in voice recognition, and “Back” isstated all the way through to theinitial screen, then “Back” is statedone more time, the voice recognitionsession will cancel.

Help

Say “Help” on any voice recognitionscreen and the help prompt for thescreen is played. Additionally, apop-up displays a text version of thehelp prompt. Depending on howvoice recognition was initiated, theHelp pop-up will either display onthe instrument cluster or theinfotainment touchscreen. Touch theDismiss button to make the pop-upgo away.



Pressing g while the help prompt isplaying will terminate the promptand a beep will be heard. Doing thiswill stop the help prompt so that avoice command can be used.

Voice Recognition for theRadio

All audio screens have a voicerecognition button (g) to launchaudio voice recognition. If the voicebutton is pressed in a radio screen,the voice commands for radio andmedia features are available.

“Switch to AM” : Switch bands toAM and tune to the last AM radiostation.

“Switch to FM” : Switch bands toFM and tune to the last FM radiostation.

“Switch to XM” : Switch bands toSiriusXM and tune to the lastSiriusXM channel.

“Tune to <AM frequency> AM” :Tune to the radio station whosefrequency is identified in thecommand (like “nine fifty”).

“Tune to <FM frequency> FM” :Tune to the radio station whosefrequency is identified in thecommand (like “one oh onepoint one”).

“Tune to <AM frequency> AMHD” : Tune to the HD Radio stationwhose frequency is identified in thecommand.

“Tune to <FM frequency> FMHD” : Tune to the HD Radio stationwhose frequency is identified in thecommand.

“Tune to <FM frequency> FM HD<HD channel number>” : Tune tothe HD Radio station whosefrequency and HD channel isidentified in the command.

“Tune to XM <XM channelnumber>” : Tune to the SiriusXMradio station whose channel numberis identified in the command.

“Tune to XM <XM channelname>” : Tune to the SiriusXMradio station whose channel nameis identified in the command.

Voice Recognition for AudioMy Media

If browsing My Media when thevoice button is selected, the voicerecognition commands for My Mediafeatures are available.

“Play Artist” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific artist name.

“Play Artist <artist name>” :Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.

“Play Album” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific album name.

“Play Album <album name>” :Begin playback of the identifiedalbum name in the command.

“Play Song” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific song name.

“Play Song <song name>” : Beginplayback of the identified songname in the command.

“Play Genre” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific genre.

“Play Genre <genre name>” :Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.



“Play Playlist” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific playlist name.

“Play Playlist <playlist name>” :Begin playback of the identifiedplaylist in the command.

“Play <device name>” : Playmusic from a specific deviceidentified by name. The devicename is the name displayed on thescreen when the device is firstselected as an audio source.

“Play Chapter” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Chapter <chapter name>” :Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.

“Play Audiobook” : Begin a dialogto enter a specific name.

“Play Audiobook <audiobookname>” : Begin playback of themedia selection identified in thecommand.

“Play CD Track <tracknumber>” : Begin playback of theCD at the track identified in thecommand.

“Play Episode” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Episode <episodename>” : Begin playback of themedia selection identified in thecommand.

“Play Podcast” : Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Podcast <podcastname>” : Begin playback of themedia selection identified in thecommand.

Handling Large Amounts of MediaContent

It is expected that large amounts ofmedia content will be brought intothe vehicle. It may be necessary tohandle large amounts of mediacontent in a different way thansmaller amounts of media. The

system may limit the options ofvoice recognition by not allowingselection of song titles by voice atthe highest level if the number ofsongs exceeds the maximum limit.

Voice command option changesthrough media content limits are:

. Song files including otherindividual files of all media typessuch as audiobook chapters,podcast episodes, and videos.

. Album type folders includingtypes such as albums andaudiobooks.

There are no restrictions if thenumber of song files and albums isless than 4,000. When the numberof song files connected to thesystem is between 4,000 and 8,000,the content cannot be accesseddirectly with one command like“Play <song name>.”

The restriction is that the command“Play Song” must be spoken first;the system will then ask for the songname. The reply command would beto say the name of the song to play.



Similar limits exist for albumcontent. If there are more than4,000 albums, but less than 8,000,the content cannot be accesseddirectly with one command like,“Play <album name>.” Thecommand “Play Album” must first bespoken; the system will then ask forthe album name. The reply wouldbe to say the name of the albumto play.

Once the number of songs hasexceeded approximately 8,000,there is no support for accessing thesongs directly through voicecommands. There will still beaccess to the media content byusing commands for playlists,artists, and genres.

The access commands for playlists,artists, and genres are prohibitedafter the number of this type ofmedia exceeds 4,000.

The system will provide feedbackthe first time voice recognition isinitiated if it has become apparentthat any of these limits are reachedduring a device initializing process.

Voice Recognition forNavigation

“Navigation” : Begin a dialog toenter specific destinationinformation.

“Navigation Commands” : Begin adialog to enter specific destinationinformation.

“Destination Address” : Begin adialog to enter a specific destinationaddress, which includes the entireaddress consisting of the housenumber, street name, and city andstate.

“Destination Intersection” : Begina dialog to enter a specificdestination intersection.

“Destination Place of Interest” :Begin a dialog to enter a destinationPlace of Interest category or majorbrand name (if equipped).

Not all brand names of businessesare available for voice entry. Mostmajor chains, such as chains withmore than 20 locations, should beavailable to search for by name, butthe name must be precisely spoken.Nicknames or short names for the

businesses will not likely be found.Lesser known businesses mighthave to be located by category,such as fast food, hotels, or banks.

“Destination Contact” : Begin adialog to enter a specific destinationcontact name.

“Cancel Route” : End routeguidance.

Voice Recognition for thePhone

“Call <contact name>” : Initiate acall to an entered contact. Thecommand may include location ifthe contact has location numbersstored.

“Call At Home <contact name> ,”“At Work,” “On Mobile,” or “OnOther” : Initiate a call to an enteredcontact and location at home, atwork, on mobile device, or onanother phone.

“Call <phone number>” : Initiate acall to a standard phone numberseven or 10 digits in length, andalso 911, 411, or 611.



“Pair Phone” : Begin the Bluetoothpairing process. Follow instructionson the radio display.

“Redial” : Initiate a call to the lastdialed number.

“Switch Phone” : Select a differentphone for outgoing calls.

“Voice Keypad” : Begin a dialog toenter special numbers likeinternational numbers. The numberscan be entered in groups of digitswith each group of digits beingrepeated back by the system. If thegroup of digits is not correct, thecommand “Delete” will remove thelast group of digits and allow themto be re-entered. Once the entirenumber has been entered, thecommand “Call” will start dialing thenumber.

“Voice mail” : Initiate a call to voicemail numbers.

Voice Pass-Thru

Voice pass-thru/Siri® Eyes Freeallows access to the voicerecognition commands on the cellphone, for example, Siri or VoiceCommand. See the cell phone

manufacturer's user guide to seewhether the cell phone supports thisfeature. To activate the phone voicerecognition system, press and holdg on the steering wheel for a fewseconds.

This enhances the normal use ofSiri. Siri allows access to textmessages, calendars, and audiosources such as Pandora or iTunes.

Voice Recognition for OnStar(If Equipped)

“OnStar” : Begin OnStar VoiceRecognition.

Voice Recognition for Weather(If Equipped)

Bluetooth (Overview)The Bluetooth-capable system caninteract with many cell phones,allowing:

. Placement and receipt of calls ina hands-free mode.

. Sharing of the cell phone’saddress book or contact list withthe vehicle.

To minimize driver distraction,before driving, and with the vehicleparked:

. Become familiar with thefeatures of the cell phone.Organize the phone book andcontact lists clearly and deleteduplicate or rarely used entries.If possible, program speed dialor other shortcuts.

. Review the controls andoperation of the infotainmentsystem.

. Pair cell phone(s) to the vehicle.The system may not work withall cell phones. See “Pairing” inthis section.

Vehicles with a Bluetooth systemcan use a Bluetooth-capable cellphone with a Hands-Free Profile tomake and receive phone calls. Theinfotainment system and voicerecognition are used to control thesystem. The system can be usedwhile in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY. The range of theBluetooth system can be up to 9.1 m(30 ft). Not all phones support allfunctions and not all phones workwith the Bluetooth system. Seewww.gm.com/bluetooth for moreinformation about compatiblephones.

Controls

Use the buttons on the infotainmentsystem and the steering wheel tooperate the Bluetooth system.

g (Push to Talk) : Press to answerincoming calls and start voicerecognition.

Audio System

When using the Bluetooth phonesystem, sound comes through thevehicle's front audio systemspeakers and overrides the audiosystem. Press just above thechrome volume bar during a call tochange the volume level. Theadjusted volume level remains inmemory for later calls. The systemmaintains a minimum volume level.

Pairing

Pairing Information

. A Bluetooth phone with musiccapability can be paired to thevehicle as a phone and a musicplayer at the same time.

. Up to 10 devices can be pairedto the Bluetooth system.

. The pairing process is disabledwhen the vehicle is moving.

. Pairing only needs to becompleted once, unless thepairing information on the cellphone changes or the cell phoneis deleted from the system.

. If multiple paired cell phones arewithin range of the system, thesystem connects to the pairedcell phone in the order that theywere last used in the system. Tolink to a different paired phone,see “Linking to a DifferentPhone” later in this section.

Pairing a Phone

1. Touch the PHONE screenbutton.

2. Select PHONES and selectPair Device.

3. A four-digit PersonalIdentification Number (PIN)appears on the display. ThePIN, if required, may be usedin Step 5.

4. Start the pairing process on thecell phone to be paired to thevehicle. See the cell phonemanufacturer's user guide forinformation on this process.

5. Locate “Cadillac CUE” on thedisplay. Follow the instructionsprovided in Step 3 on the cellphone to enter the PIN orconfirm the six-digit codeshown on the display. After thePIN is successfully entered orthe code is confirmed, thesystem responds with “<Devicename> has been successfullypaired” when the pairingprocess is complete.

6. If “Cadillac CUE” does notappear, turn the phone off orremove the phone battery andretry.

7. If the phone prompts to acceptconnection or allow phonebook download, select AlwaysAccept and Allow. The phonebook may not be available ifnot accepted.

8. Repeat Steps 1−7 to pairadditional phones.

Making a Call Using Contactsand Recent Calls

Calls can be made through theBluetooth system using personalcell phone contact information for allphones that support the PhoneBook feature. Become familiar withthe phone settings and operation.Verify the cell phone supports thisfeature.

When supported, the Contacts andRecent Calls menus areautomatically available.

The Contacts menu accesses thephone book stored in the cell phone.

The Recent Calls menu accessesthe recent call list(s) from your cellphone.

To make a call using theContacts menu:

Three-Way Calling

Three-way calling must besupported on the Bluetooth phoneand enabled by the wireless servicecarrier to work.

To start a three-way call while in acurrent call:

1. In the Call View, select Add toadd another call.

2. Initiate the second call byselecting from RECENT,CONTACTS, or KEYPAD.

3. When the second call is active,press the merge icon toconference the three-way calltogether.

4. Once all calls are merged, themerge icon button becomes anunmerge icon button. Press tounmerge the calls.

Some wireless service carriersmay not allow a merged call tobecome unmerged.

Ending a Call


. Press End on the center stackdisplay to end all existing calls,or touch End next to a call toend only that call.

. Press End on the instrumentcluster using the select button.

Dual Tone Multi-Frequency(DTMF) Tones

The in-vehicle Bluetooth system cansend numbers during a call. This isused when calling a menu-drivenphone system.


2. While in the Call View, touchthe up arrow to raise theInteraction Selector.

3. Select KEYPAD and enter thenumber.

Voice Mail

The default voice mail number is thephone number of the outgoingphone source. The voice mailnumber can be changed inBluetooth settings.

Text MessagingIf equipped, the infotainment systemmay allow text messages to bereceived and replied to. Receivedmessages can also be read aloud.

The messages can be deleted or anew message can be added.

2. While in the predefinedmessages list view, select AddNew Predefined Message anda keyboard displays.

3. Type a new message andtouch NEW MSG when done toadd the message. Touch the [Back screen button to go back

to the predefined messageslist. Touch z to delete onecharacter at a time.

Memory Full

This message may display if there isno more room on the phone to storemessages.

Text Settings

Text Alerts : When on, this featurewill display an alert when a new textmessage has been received. Touchto turn on or off.

SettingsThe Settings menu allowsadjustment of different vehicle andradio features. The menu maycontain the following:

Time and Date

See “Clock” in the owner manual.

Language

This will set the display language inthe radio, instrument cluster, andvoice recognition. Touch Languageand select the appropriatelanguage. Touch the [ Back screenbutton to go back to theprevious menu.

Valet Mode (If Equipped)

This will lock the infotainmentsystem and steering wheel controls.It may also limit top speed, power,and access to vehicle storagelocations (if equipped).

To enable valet mode:

1. Enter a four-digit code on thekeypad.

2. Touch Enter to go to theconfirmation screen.

3. Re-enter the four-digit code.

Touch LOCK or UNLOCK to lock orunlock the system. Touch [ Back togo back to the previous menu.

Radio

Touch to display the Radio Menuand the following may display:

. Manage Favorites: Touch adisplayed Favorite to select thatfavorite to edit. Touch Renameto rename the favorite or Deleteto delete it. Touch and hold thestation to drag it to a newlocation. Touch Done to go backto the previous menu.

. Number of Favorites Shown:Touch to set the number offavorites to display. Select Auto,5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45,50, 55, or 60. Auto willautomatically add or hideadditional Favorite pages basedon the number of Favorites

stored. Touch the [ Back screenbutton to go back to theprevious menu.

. Auto Volume (If Equipped): Thisfeature adjusts the volumebased on the vehicle speed. SeeAM-FM Radio 0 10.

. Bose® AudioPilot® noisecompensation technology:If equipped, this feature adjuststhe volume based on the noisein the vehicle. See AM-FMRadio 0 10.

. Maximum Startup Volume: Thisfeature sets the maximumstartup volume. If the vehicle isstarted and the volume isgreater than this level, thevolume is adjusted to this level.To set the maximum startupvolume, touch + or − to increaseor decrease. Touch the [ Backscreen button to go back to theprevious menu.

. Audio Cue Volume (If Equipped):This feature adjusts the startupand shutdown sounds. To adjustthe volume, touch + or − to
