CTS materials used:• CTS Machine shop• CTS Strand Anchor hardware

Thanks to the new addition of CTS Machining, Con-Tech Systems Ltd.’s machine shop, all machining of hardware was able to be done in-house. This was a huge benefit in time, cost, and design.

The anchor heads were machined from a billet piece of 1045 grade steel primarily on a CNC mill. The machining process in-volves drilling all required holes for the strand to pass through, as well as holes for grouting operations and tapped holes for lifting and restrainer plate bolts. After the basic head was machined, it was externally threaded with a 14”-4 TPI ACME thread so that, should the need ever arise, it could be re-stressed using the CTS supplied Re-Stressing Tube Assembly. The stressing head re-quired was machined from a billet piece of 4140. The original block of steel weighed over 350 pounds and it took over 40 hours to complete the machining. In addition to common parts such as the anchor and stressing head, this project also required CTS to supply some less common parts such as load cell platens and a relatively new design - organizing fingers. This product is use-ful for anchors with a lot of strand and a long tail length. It al-lows the contractor to install the organizer and use it to install the stressing head on the strands, and then be able to remove the organizer, so that it may be re-used again on the next anchor.CTS was honored to work on such a special project and would like to send a special thank you to both Daniel Lees and Gavin Edmunds of Geo Foundations for the opportunity.

Con-Tech Systems Ltd. would like to sincerely thank Geo-Foundations Contractors Inc. for awarding CTS this project.
